PRAYER DIARY1. O God of Bethel our God and Father, thank you for your faithfulness that brought us to this ember months. Let us thank Him for all that we have enjoyed since the beginning of 20152. Let us pray that the Almighty God of Bethel would journey with us throughout the ember months.3. When Jacob reached a certain place in his journey, he encountered the God of Bethel and his story began to change. Pray that you will not be in a hurry as to miss your own certain place that will change your story in this holy convocation.4. It was in that divine encounter that the God of bethel unfolded his plan to Jacob for a destiny fulfillment. Hold on to God in prayer now for him to unfold his plan for you.5. The stairway connecting heaven and earth signify the relationship that must exist between you and God. Pray that nothing would disconnect you from the God of Bethel.6. It was only one dream and the divine agenda for Jacob was released. Pray that you too would have your own dream that will give direction to your life.7. Your descendants will be like the dusts of the earth that signify fruitfulness and multiplication. Pray that every trace of barrenness in you will turn fruitfulness.8. Gods agenda for Jacob was that he will be an agent of blessing to his generation. Pray that the God of Bethel will make you an agent of blessing to your generation.9. The God of Bethel says; I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. As you and your family move around in this ember months, pray for God's word of his protection be fulfilled. vi
10. Pray that every satanic arrows that has been programmed for these ember months will backfire, and the people of God shall remain victorious11. There is the promise of heritage to Jacob. Pray and ask the Lord to fight those who want to Robb you of your heritage and disgrace them.12. In this ember months pray that the mighty hand of God will be upon every genuine business. Whatever may want to slow it down let the fire of God consume them.13. Let us pray for all our children as they return to school pray that the spirit of God will prepare them for their learning. Pray for their teachers that God will refresh them.14. Pray and bind every spirit that may want to manipulate, bewitch or corrupt them. All satanic strategy at destroying them will fail.15. Let us pray for God’s provision for parents to be able to pay their children fees and any other financial involvement16. Let us pray for the government to create an enabling environment for learning thereby lifting standard of education in the country.17. Psalm 121:3, the Lord says; 'He will not let your foot slip' decree and declare that anybody or any power that want your foot to slip these ember months, let the thunder of God locate them for destruction18. INTRODUCTIONWelcome to Ephphatha 2015 with the theme: THE GOD OF BETHEL (Genesis 31:13). God at different times in the Old Testamentrevealed Himself to different people and in differentplaces. His self-disclosure to Abraham was a newbeginning that will birth a nation (Israel) throughwhich the entire world would come to know Him.His revelation of Himself did not stop with Abraham, itcontinued to Abraham's grandson called Jacob. God'srevelation of Himself to Jacob culminated in our theme- God of Bethel. Jacob's encounter with God is aninteresting one that anyone who will patiently studythis theophany would desire to have an encounter withthe God of Bethel. It is the story of this divineencounter that the Almighty God is giving us theprivilege to study in this holy convocation. The God ofBethel has assured us that if we sincerely seek Him inthis spiritual journey we shall have our ownoutstanding experience of Him and the abundancethat follows. DAY 1 UNFOLDING HIS AGENDA FOR OUR LIVES“When he reached a certain place, he stopped forthe night because the sun had set. Taking one ofthe stones there, he put it under his head and laydown to sleep” Gen. 28:11Welcome to another exciting moments of the year called Ephphatha. Ephphatha this year promises glorious things for all who willearnestly and passionately seek the God of Bethel.One thing that must be noted at this onset is that theGod of Bethel can always reveal Himself where we leastexpected. This has being His nature from creation.From nothing comes all that we see today. Apostle Paulalluded to this in 1 Corinth. 1:27 that, “But God chosethe foolish things of the world to shame the wise; Godchose the weak things of the world to shame thestrong”.Jacob never knew that where he would have regardedas an ordinary place was the very place where the Godof Bethel dwells. While David was pursuing with a viewto overtake and recover, it was an abandoned slave thatshowed him the way (1 Sam. 30:11-14). The stone thatJacob put under his head depicts Jesus Christ who isthe solid rock with whom you have an encounter andthere will be a change. It was that same night thatJacob had a wonderful dream where the God of Bethelunfolded His agenda for his life. It is a season of divineencounter where like Jacob; God will unfold His 1
agenda for all who dare trust Him. All who will turn tothe rock of ages, they too will have their own dream thatwill give them a guaranteed future. The God of Bethelsays; I know the plans I have for you ... of prosperity notto harm you, to give you hope and future (Jer. 29:11).Is your dream suffering delay? This is the season offulfillment. Ephphatha is the certain place you havereached now for your breakthrough and greatermanifestation.PRAYER POINTS1. We thank you O Lord for this season. Let us begin to praise Him for this programme.2. DAY 2 AWESOME GOD “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, this is the gate of heaven” Gen. 28:16.Before we begin to examine the divine agenda handed down to Jacob for his life and how it is applicable to us, it is important we take a look atJacob's response to his dream. Dreams are one of thechannels through which our God speaks to Hischildren. What is the state of your dreams? Do youdream while you sleep? We have encountered severalpeople who complained that they do not dream.Others would complain of horrible dreams they aresuffering from. To some other people, their dreams arealways the opposite. Our dreams are suppose to bepositive and a medium through which God speaks toHis children. Anything short of this would requiredeliverance. It means the devil had already highjackedyour dream. It should be your desire that in this holyconvocation, you would experience total freedom. Oneof the reasons why some may not realize their destinyfulfillment is because they have no idea of it.God never hide His purpose for our lives, hence Hedisclosed His plan to Jacob. In this holy season God isready to unfold your dream to you so that you can live alife with purpose. Jacob declared, this place isawesome, so to us this programme can be awesomeand a life changing arena that would open the gate of agreater life to you. The God of Bethel is ready to do it inspite of your shortcomings, only one encounter woulddo it in your life. Therefore, I implore you to putyourself together for a divine encounter with the God ofBethel. 3
PRAYER POINTS1. Let us thank God for the gift of dreams as a channel of divine communication.2. Raise a battle cry if this aspect of your life is docile as you begin to pray that the good Lord will heal your dream.3. Jacob's dream unfolded the divine agenda for his life. Let us call upon God to grant us this same privilege in this holy convocation for a definite change.4. Jacob's dream gave him a direction and a focus in his life's journey. DAY 3 AWESOME GOD“And this stone that I have set up as a pillar willbe God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth'” Gen. 28:22Jacob's response to his experience of the God of Bethel went beyond words into action. He raised an altar as evidence of a covenant relationshipbetween the God of Bethel and himself. Whenever aman encounters God, the story must change. Such anexperience cannot be forgotten in hurry. Jacob'sencounter gave him an assurance that his journey willbe successful and he knew that God would grant hisheart desire hence he made a pledge to the God ofBethel.Just as Bethel became a place never to be forgotten sowill Ephphatha 2015. God is prepared for themiraculous in our lives. No one who looks up to Himwill be neglected in this divine arrangements. Jacobtook a step of faith and he raised an altar that wouldcontinually speak for him while the journey last.Today is a day for you to raise an altar if you have notdone so. As you raise your altar, place your prayerrequest alongside with it and you would experienceGod as never before. Jacob raised a stone and set it upas a pillar. That stone is a rock and that rock is JesusChrist, whoever that called upon him shall be saved.If Jacob was saved in the Old Testament, then yoursalvation cannot be compromised. Arise, prepare yourseed and your request and lay it at the altar by faith,you will have a testimony. For it is your turn to declareHis praises. 5
PRAYER POINTS1. Heavenly Father, in this holy convocation, I sincerely desire a divine encounter that will change me for good all the days of may life.2. Jacob raises a stone which represent you my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. As I lift you up in this programme, may you draw my miracles to me and may you save us all.3. My Father My Father, by faith I lay my seed and prayer request at your altar, answer me speedily O Lord.4. As Jacob made a promise of given his one tenth, let me see your goodness that I may do more than Jacob.5. Ephphatha 2015, it is my turn to be a pillar to the Gospel. DAY 4 UNFOLDING HIS AGENDA: A RELATIONSHIP “... I am the Lord, the God of your grand father Abraham and the God of your father, Isaac.” Gen. 28:13aWhen the Almighty God encountered Jacob, it was not enough for him to continue under the grace of his grandfather or his immediatefather. Certainly such grace would be exhausted. Heneeded to lay his own personal foundation that wouldkeep grace running in his life. God's covenant promiseto Abraham and Isaac was offered to Jacob as well.But it was not enough to be Abraham's grandson; itwas a necessity for Jacob to establish his own personalrelationship with God in order to keep the promise.God deals with individuals, He does not havegrandchildren. It is not enough to have Christianparents who may be standing the gap, better still apastor or 'man of God' who is interceding for you. Yourrelationship with God is a necessity to keep theseadvantages working in our lives. The Prodigal Sonrelied on the grace of his father, because he lacked apersonal relationship, that grace got exhausted.Whenever the Almighty God, the God of Bethel locatesa man, this is usually where He starts because He isnot prepared to waste His grace on any man. Men maychose to waste the grace they inherited but the God ofBethel will never increase it (Rom. 6:1). Your futureand the future of all that God has bestowed on you canonly be safeguarded if only you will resolve this matter 7
of relationship so that you will have a smooth sail inyour life's journey. Jacob settled his own hence we aretalking about him. You too must settle it today -RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD through Jesus Christ.PRAYER POINTS1. Let us thank God for the grace we may have inherited and how far it has improved our lives.2. Raise a passionate cry to the Lord for an encounter that would keep this grace running in your personal life.3. Perhaps you have behaved like the prodigal Son, therefore what would have set your feet on the pedestal of success had been wasted. Pray that the mercy of God would restore you today.4. A relationship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ is a redefinition, a new beginning that brings about a complete turn around. Pray that it will be your personal experience.5. DAY 5 HIS AGENDA: BEING IN THE RIGHT PLACE“... The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants…”.” Gen. 28:13bIf you are fortunate to be counted worthy to be a part of any divine project or agenda, make sure you do not alter what God may have put in place. AlteringGod's agenda because of personal ambition or desire isa common sight in our generation. Leaders are facedwith this hell-bound temptation. God has raised manyto some specific positions but because the powers thatmay be never like their faces denied these persons whohave been raised by God, thus altering God's agenda.This is one reason that will keep many from heaven.It is obvious to us that Jacob was leaving the land neverto return considering the generational enmity that hasensued between him and his brother Esau. His planwas that if the place he was going to is favourable as faras his wisdom could carry him, he would settle downthere to live his life. The few years he lived with Labansupports this view. But unknown to him, he wasalready planning against God's agenda which istantamount to alteration. The God of Bethel had tointerrupt him and clearly declare to him that the landon which he was lying belongs to him. To go elsewhereis to be in a wrong place and he would perpetually misshis miracles. 9
This is the bane in the life of many Christians who arein the wrong place, therefore far away from the dews ofheaven hence their story is pathetic and it is obviousthat their head lacks oil of salvation, oil of gladness, oilof prosperity, etc.PRAYER POINTS1. My Father, my father, give me the dream that will unfold your agenda and purpose for my life that I may not continue in ignorance.2. Too many people are suffering because household enemies have altered God's agenda for their lives. Let us raise a battle cry for deliverance..3. Father every of my divine allocation that I have wondered away from, O Lord, restore me and let it manifest in my life in this holy convocation.4. Thank you Father for your agenda for my life that also included my descendants. Let my obedience to you and your word never be in doubt in Jesus name.5. DAY 6 HIS AGENDA: BEING IN THE RIGHT PLACE He was headed for the land of Canaan, but hestopped at Haran and settled there.” Gen.11:31bOur God remains a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for anything else. For those who are obedient to Him, He would lavishHis unfailing love on them. The Almighty God, the Godof Bethel is ever faithful to His WORD even when we areunfaithful. When He begins a project He neverabandons it. God will not give up on His counsel but Hecan give up on the man He plans to use if such a persondisobeys.From our text we saw that it was Terah the father ofAbraham that started the journey to Canaan, but ongetting to Haran, he stopped and settled there. We maynot be precise on the reason why he altered his planbut obviously, he settled out of his divine destination.We are told that he lived and died there. What atragedy! To have ended his journey half way therebydied in a wrong place. It seems to be hereditary as weshall come to see.If we fail to be in the right place, we stand to lose ourdivine allocation. From the onset, God began to dealwith this problem in the life of Jacob so that Hispurpose will not be truncated. 11
At the beginning of Chapter 12, we see an element ofreluctance on the part of Abraham. Thank GodAbraham eventually left to the right place. His divineagenda requires that you and all that concerns youshould be in the right place.This is the stress many are going through withoutknowing. As God spoke to Jacob in a dream, so He isready to speak to you while this programme last and torelocate you to your right place.PRAYER POINTS:1. Heavenly Father, thank you for your calling upon our lives, help us to be obedient to you at every stage of our calling.2. Let us raise a battle cry to the Lord, whatever will make us to end our journey half way. Pray for God's deliverance.3. Let us intercede on behalf of all who have settled and they are living in the wrong place, that the mercy of God would bring restoration.4. It is a declaration that I will not died in the wrong place, all that concerns me will not be in the wrong place.5. DAY 7 HIS AGENDA: BEING IN THE RIGHT PLACE“The Lord appeared to Isaac and said; Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you.” Gen. 26:3We cannot deny the fact that there are forces that can push us from our right place but if Christ Jesus is in our lives, we are able toresist those forces. The Bible speaks of God orderingthe footsteps of a righteous man. In Psalm, 121, Hesays, He will not allow your foot to be moved…(v3).If we allow God to take full control of our lies, no poweris capable of moving us from our right place.The forces of famine were set to move Isaac from theland of his inheritance. He was almost going tosuccumb when the God of Bethel appeared to him andsaid do not go down to Egypt. It was the same thing hisfather suffered and that brought a further delay tofulfilling God's agenda in his life. Abraham went toEgypt as a result of famine. It was there he liedfollowed by the adultery he committed. Theconsequence of this setback the world is sufferingtoday. It is imperative at this juncture to askourselves, what may have forced you out of yourrightful place?God specifically told Isaac, “do as I tell you”, Isaacobeyed without argument and he remained there.Because of this singular obedience we are told thatwhile famine was doing its havoc in the lives of people,God blessed Isaac. In that same year that he planted 13
his crops, he harvested a hundred times more than heplanted. Heavenly dews will not look for you but theywill fall on the place you ought to be. That was thestory of Isaac. If you are outside where you ought to be,let it be known to you that your heavenly dews arefalling there. Go back there and enjoy what is yours.PRAYER POINTS:1. O Lord my God every satanic power, household enemy poised to push me out of my rightful place, let your thunder locate them in Jesus name.2. Father you intervened in the case of Isaac and he was obedient to you. Intervene today in the lives of those whose foot is about to slip.3. My Father, my Father, in the midst of drought and harsh weather, your heavenly dews fell on Isaac and his work, may our testimony be better.4. Through obedience to your word, Isaac planted his crops and he harvested a hundred times and his wealth continued to grow. May we in this programme learn to be obedient to you.5. DAY 8 HIS AGENDA: BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY “Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth…” Gen. 28:14aGod's agenda for our lives is in sequence graduating from one to another. The God of Bethel does not break protocol in it and nobodyis allowed to jump the guns, the process must take itscourse. The first thing as we have mentioned is toestablish a relationship. The God of Bethel is fullyready for all who seek relationship with Him. The nextis for you to be where He has positioned you and thedews of heaven will fall on you so that you may be ableto fulfill the purpose for your life and destinyfulfillment.Having secured the above, the first result is that youwill experience increase in your life. The power ofmultiplications comes on you, hence you becomefruitful and you multiply so that you can fill the earthand govern it (Gen. 1:28). God told Jacob, yourdescendants will be numerous as the dust of the earth.God of Bethel is the God of abundance; He does bigthings and greater things. If we are His children, wemust be like Him in the way we talk, in the way we actand do things. If your mindset struggles to achieve oraccept big things, then you must settle it in this HolyConvocation. 15
From the time Jacob encountered the God of Bethel,the agenda for his life was set before him so as to guidehim in everything. This is what Jesus does to anyonewho has a relationship with Him. Those who knows thedivine agenda for their lives would strive to fulfill thepurpose for their lives. While this hour of mercy last, beencouraged because increase is your portion. And thatyour life abhors stagnancy and the likes.PRAYER POINTS:1. Let us thank God for the grace of increase and multiplication in our lives and in everything we do. Thank God that limitation is not your portion.2. The God of Bethel says “your descendants shall be numerous as the dust of the earth.” Begin to claim it as your portion. Your life must be an evidence.3. Raise a battle cry against the forces that are opposed to your fruitfulness and multiplication. Let God arise and scatter them by fire and thunder.4. Every form of barrenness to be banished from our lives for fruitfulness to manifest gloriously.5. DAY 9 HIS AGENDA: EXPANSION UNLIMITED “…They will spread out in all directions to the West and the East, to the North and South.” Gen. 28:14bIf we carefully examine the call of God upon any man it is always a universal call. God's purpose is that the call would affect everyone for good. Anyone callof God must possess this orientation in order to deliveron the mandate. Jacob and his descendants willspread in all directions and God would plant themeverywhere, from West to East and from North toSouth. It is the same agenda that God has for us all ifonly we can come out of our naïve way of thinking anddoing things and begin to live by faith and that all thesethings are possible if the God of Bethel becomes ourGod in everything concerning our lives. 17
Today the descendants of Jacob dots everywherewherever human beings are found. Hitler the strongman of Germany made every effort to destroy the Jewsbut the word of God stands. Israel since 1947 had beenwaxing stronger on the land given to their patriarchs.We need this same favour in our lives while this HolyConvocation lasts.PRAYER POINTS1. DAY 10 HIS AGENDA: YOUR CHILDREN AGENT OF BLESSING …”And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants.” Gen. 28:14cIt is interesting to note that God was re-enacting the covenant relationship He had with Jacob's grand father, Abraham. The first challenge facing usespecially parents is that how we live our lives is ofutmost importance; it will determine the speed of graceupon the lives of our children. If they establish arelationship with the God of Bethel, our children wouldever praise God for the quality of life that we lived andhow we pointed them to God. As parents how are weliving our lives? Remember it will surely affect yourchildren.God's agenda for Jacob as it affects us is that thefamilies of the earth would find their blessing in ourdescendants. Beloved, we need to share this with ourchildren in order to give them focus in life. At one timeor the other, Jacob must have shared this profoundstatement with his descendants. Without any fear ofcontradiction such a promise would inspire ourchildren to be more diligent and committed to theirendeavours. This is a great future that lies ahead ofour children, with our passionate prayers for them,they will excel far above us. 19
How awesome is the God of Bethel whose agenda forour lives goes beyond us to our children. The onus lieson us to bring them up in the fear of the Lord in themidst of an adulterous generation of ours. DAY 11 HIS AGENDA: PROMISE OF SECURITY“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go…” Gen. 28:15aSecurity had turned an essential commodity in the world today; Nigeria inclusive. One of the reasons that accounted for the fall of PresidentGoodluck Jonathan administration is security. Thethreat of Boko Haram insurgency to the sovereignty ofNigeria is an issue that had gulped a lot of moneysufficient enough to build our ailing infrastructures.Besides what happens at the national level, is thesecurity of individuals that is being threatened by theactivities of robbers, kidnappers and other incessantattacks that we are exposed to.The God of Bethel who knows the end from thebeginning knows that man would eventually plungehimself to the various security challenges. All theseare not peculiar to Nigeria. The activities of terroristsgroups with their various name poses a greatersecurity risk in different part of the world. In America, ayoung boy could walk into a church where services wasgoing on and decided to shoot nine persons who werebubbling with life thus ending their lives abruptly.His divine agenda for our lives guarantees our security.No matter the risk we may be exposed to, He says I willprotect you wherever you go. We have nothing elseother than to pray that we may be beneficiary of Hisprotection. Many are tempted to seek refuge 21
elsewhere. Let it be known to you that God is our refugeand strength, an ever present help in trouble.Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way.PRAYER POINTS1. DAY 12 HIS AGENDA: RESTORATION …”Ad I will bring you back to this land…” Gen. 28:14cJacob was actually running for his dear life because his elder brother Esau was after him. Jacob may have decided not to return in the nearfuture, hence the encounter with the God of Bethel.Circumstances surrounding some people have ledthem to running away from their heritage. Perhapscircumstance surrounding you at this moment isgiving you some concern and you are contemplatingotherwise. In this Holy Convocation, the God of Bethelis speaking to you as he spoke to Jacob. What is it thatis about pushing you here and there?The God of Bethel is the God of restoration. Even if youhave been a victim, God is more than enough to bringback your glory. The God of Bethel assured Jacob ofbringing him back to the land of promise. Even ifenemies are pursuing him out, the promise is for himand nobody will take away what the Lord has given tohim. The same promise is being renewed in our lives.No matter where the enemies have pushed you, yourfamily, your job or your business, restoration is comingyour way as you willingly surrender to the God ofBethel who says to you, I will bring you back.It does not matter the forces that may be at work. TheBible says; when the ways of a man are pleasing to God,his enemies would be at peace with him. At the timeJacob was being restored, his brother Esau who was 23

DAY 13 HIS AGENDA: FULFILLING HIS PROMISE “…I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you”…” Gen. 28:15cThe God of Bethel is irrevocably committed to fulfilling His promise to all who have established a relationship with Him. We may wish to reflectover the divine agenda unfolded to Jacob; the firstthing you observe is that it is all-inclusive. The God ofBethel always adopt a holistic approach towards Hisown. He is perfect, He never forgets anything thatconcerns you. Our Lord says; “And even the veryhairs of your head are all numbered” (Matt. 10:30).If there is any area of our lives that looked abandoned,it may be that we are yet to surrender.His divine agenda says, “I will not leave you.” This isone promise that guarantees the security we need in aporous society of ours. The promise goes beyondsecurity, it portray the God of Bethel as the helper youhave been longing for. Therefore, do not despair butput your hope in God. The Psalmist says to his soul;“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why sodisturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for Iwill yet praise my Saviour and my God.” (Ps. 42:11).If it appears you are alone, be encouraged by His word.The God of Bethel says; “until I have done what Ihave promised you”. This is a statement of hope to allwho put their trust in Him. “And we know that in all 25
things God works for the good of those who lovehim, who have been called according to Hispurpose.” (Rom. 8:28). God never gave you time, youare the one who gave God time, if that time has failed,then start waiting for His timing because one thing issure, “For the revelation (promises) always awaitsan appointed time; it speaks of the end and willnot prove false. DAY 14 HIS PRESENCE WITH YOU“The Lord replied, my presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14.When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he realized that the place he slept was awesome and he concluded, “This is none other than thehouse of God, this is the gate of heaven.” In hisworship of God, he requested the Lord God of Bethel tolead him, avail him of His presence. Indeed after theencounter, he continued on his journey to the land ofthe eastern peoples.As we read the story of his arrival in the subsequentchapters, we saw the favour of the God of Bethel uponhim. Shepherding him to the right place and the rightpeople. This is our desire for everyone in this embermonths. It is no news that this part of the year alwaysdrive fear into the spine of some persons from differentdirections. Whatever may be your feelings, the goodnews is that with the God of Bethel, we are overcomersand more than conquerors.When Jacob arrived, the first set of person that he metwas of the family of Laban his uncle. God delivered himfrom bandits, 419, kidnappers and other agents of thedevil. In this part of the year, the God of Bethel willdeliver his own from all evils that characterized theland. On our part we must cherish our relationshipwith our God through our Lord Jesus Christ so that Hisdivine agenda will remain our portion. When Labansaw Jacob, having embraced and kissed him, brought 27
him to his home by offering him hospitality andcomfort, he declared to him, “You are my own fleshand blood.” I declare over your life, your helpers forthis season will not be lacking and you will find rest asa result of his presence with you.PRAYER POINTS:1. DAY 15 THE NEED OF A HELPER “Laban said to him, just because you are a relative of mine, should you work for me for nothing?” Gen. 29:5We ended yesterday with a declaration that your helpers for this season will not be lacking. May the God of Bethel cause them tolocate you, work for your good, champion your course,put smile on your face, take you from joblessness to therealm of employment, recommend you for promotion,take your welfare to their hearts and bless you beyondmeasure. May your concern be their concern andpursue your well-being vigorously.Uncle Laban became a helper to Jacob an instrumentto empower him as to realize his life objectives. Labanwished that Jacob should be empowered in order thathe may be independent and be able to help others. Ifonly many of us will learn from Laban who desire theprosperity of others. Laban realized that a workerdeserves his wages and that you do not muzzle on Oxwhen it is treading the ground. Jacob is working; heneeded to be paid so that he could be blessed. What isyour attitude towards that person working with you?What could be your reason why you may have deniedhis privileges partially or out rightly? If people work foryou in obedience to God's word that we must work andyou disregard their salaries and wages. You fail to paythem as at when due, remember the God of Bethel is acompassionate God, therefore be compassionate likeHim so as to further open the door of blessings to you in 29
this season of the year. Do not withhold what belongsto others so that your own can be released as at whendue.PRAYER POINTS:1. My Father, my Father, in this season of the year we plead with you to raise helpers for your children and your children as helpers.2. Let us pray that God will come to the aid of our government and private sectors to pay salaries and wages as at when due in Jesus name.3. Many of our pensioners are yet to receive their gratuity and some other entitlements. Pray that this yoke be broken.4. DAY 16 TIME TO RETURN “I am the God of Bethel where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.” Gen. 31:13The Scripture reported that the man Jacob “grew exceedingly prosperous and came to own large flocks, and maidservants and menservants, and camels and donkeys” (Gen. 30:43).This is what the God of Bethel is prepared to do in ourlives especially as the year is running to an end. Evenwhen there seems to be some lull in business, somewould keep smiling to the Bank. This is our prayer forall those who have made the God of Bethel their God.The wealth that Jacob had acquired became a reasonfor Laban to be envious of him. The children were notleft out of it. They claim that Jacob had takeneverything their father owned. These are the reality ofour age. Somebody somewhere had poisoned the mindof Laban. Laban and his children would have preferredseeing Jacob begging or at most look up to them beforehe can achieve anything. They seem to forget thatwhile Jacob had relationship with the God of Bethel,they had a relationship with idols. Our prayer is thatat no time will our head lack oil. The oil of prosperity,the oil of breakthrough, the oil that places you aboveyour contemporaries (Ps. 45:7). 31
The negative attitude of this people paved the way forJacob to return to where he rightfully belong.Admittedly, some of the things you may beexperiencing now may be negative but like Jacob theymay be a reminder to you of what you needed to do. Itwas at this point God through an angel spoke to Jacob;I am the God of Bethel, do not forget our covenant. Iimplore you to go into prayers and the Lord wouldcertainly speak to you and give you the direction to go.PRAYER POINTS:1. It is true that a good number of Christians have become enemies because of the favour of God upon their lives, let us pray that the Lord will fight for them.2. The Psalmist says; nations conspire, the people plot in vain against the anointed one. Pray that the one enthroned would arise and scatter their plans.3. My Father, my Father, as many that are plotting the downfall of your children, arise O Lord and put them in disarray as the angel of the Lord pursue them.4. DAY 17 DIVINE WARNING “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad” (Gen. 31:24b).In obedience to the Lord, Jacob with his family started their journey back to the land of promise. When Laban learnt that Jacob left without tellinghim, he took his relations with him and began topursue Jacob. After seven days, he caught up with himin the hill country of Gilead. While pursuing him,Laban nursed some evil plan against Jacob, but Godfrom whom no secrets are hidden and all desire knownhad to confront Laban in his dream and issued him adivine warning.God said to him, “be careful not to say anything toJacob either good or bad.” Making the God of Bethelyour God is the best thing that could happen in yourlife. He takes over your battles and fight for you.Enemies are called to order while your peace is keptintact. God cannot lie; His word must come to pass.He promised to be with Jacob and to bring Jacob to theland He has given to his fathers. Perhaps enemies havebeen pursuing you and you believe they will overcomeyou. While we may not know why they are after yourlife, if you surrender to the God of Bethel through ourLord Jesus Christ, He will fight for you and take you tothe pinnacle of success. By the time Laban saw Jacob,all his evil intensions, none he could execute. As manythat make the Lord their refuge would always find Himto be a present help at all time. 33

DAY 18 DIVINE CHANGE “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.” (Gen. 32:28The anxiety of how Jacob would meet with his brother Esau was already eating him up. In other to survive his perceived attack by hisbrother, that night he had to send his family ahead ofhim and decided to be alone. This may not beunconnected with his experience at Bethel where Godbecame real to him. For Jacob, it was an opportunityto meditate and it paid off. This is one gift that we canmake use of and our story in this convocation willchange for better. Always create some quiet time forpersonal reflection.That same night Jacob wrestled with a man till daybreak. One major reason for this encounter is thechange that must take place in the life of Jacob beforestepping back to the land of promise - Canaan.Jacob needed a change before he could fit in into God'sagenda. He left as a supplanter, a chit, a liar, quiet butdangerous. God had to encounter him again for achange.Beloved, God is preparing you through this programmefor the very place and position He had prepared for you.Until you experience the necessary change, you cannotoperate on the same wave-length like the one whomade you. This change brings a total transformation 35
the renewal of your mind so that the heart of God canbe connected with your heart. What is your name? Inother words, what is your identify? Because Jacob wasready that same night everything about him changed.We too can experience this change in this holyconvocation.PRAYER POINTS:1. Begin to pray and bind every spirit responsible for fear and anxiety in your life.2. The God of Bethel has not given us the spirit of timidity but of power and sound mind. DAY 19 BE DETERMINED “…Because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.” Gen. 32:28bDetermination brought about the change that the soul of Jacob had always yearned for., Determination is very important in our dailywalk with God in this holy convocation. Ourdetermination should be rooted in faith - faith in theGod of Bethel that is able to do all things. For Jacob itwas another divine encounter with God and his soulwas thirsty for a change, thus the Bible described theencounter as wrestling with God. He held on to God fora change that leads to transformation and brings abouta transitions to a higher dimension in life. I perceived inmy spirit that this is what God is about to do in your lifein this season of unusual miracles and testimonies.Jacob fought with God and with men and he won. Itmeans you too can win if you are determined. Whatdoes it mean to fight with God? It was not a fightoccasioned by quarrel or that God became an enemy.This fight with God simply means that God's will mustbe done in my life. His purpose for my life must come topass come what may. The life of many Christianstoday is characterized with what the devil is doing withthem. That night Jacob declared that, the devils workmust be terminated in his life so that the peace of Godwhich passes all understanding could envelop his life.That same night, Jacob declared that man's activitiesarising from adamic nature in him must come to anend. This is the struggle that we should engage 37
ourselves so that we can truly be the overcomers andmore than conquerors of our generation. Certainly allthese other things that are for our good would followus.PRAYER POINTS1. Ask the Lord to grant you the same privilege that Jacob had so that you too would undertake your own fight.2. Pray that in this your holy fight, God's purpose for your life for destiny fulfillment shall come to pass.3. DAY 20 El-BETHEL “Then God said to Jacob, go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God…” Gen. 35:1Christianity as it is always having a beginning in a man's life. Thus every Christian must be able to give a vivid story of how it all began. Thisbeginning was the encounter with the Lord wherebythe power of transformation became real in our lives. Ifthis issue is not clear yet, certainly Christianity is yet totake off. This beginning is always a place to fall back toin order to receive fresh anointing from the Holy Spirit.It was at this beginning that a clean break from sintakes place. Thus if the devil wants to lure you back tosin, the events of the beginning reminds you of thefinished work on the Cross of Calvary. Today thetwentieth day of this holy convocation, hope yourencounter with the Lord is not in doubt.God said to Jacob, “Go up to Bethel where it allhappened and settle there, and there build (raised)an altar there to God” (emphasis mine). That wasthe meeting point where the relationship started. AtBethel will the purpose of your life be fulfilled. At Bethelmany more would join you to worship me, only atBethel would your sacrifice be accepted. It is only atBethel you will worship me in truth and in Spirit. Bethel experience is a necessity for all those pantingafter God and until you have it, it may be a waste oftime. This whole effort is to help you to have your ownpersonal experience, and your life will never remain thesame God is saying back to Bethel.PRAYER POINTS1. DAY 21 GET RID OF THOSE gods “Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you and purify yourselves and change your clothes…Let us go up to Bethel.” Gen. 35:2-3The call to return to your Bethel would always spark the fire of revival in the heart. This is why Bethel experience cannot be waved aside. It isthis experience that helps to sustain us in our dailywalk with God. Bethel experience at anytime is anopportunity for more of Jesus in our lives because it isthe secret of personal discovery, it gives meaning to ourfaith and by it our faith is exposed to greater exploits.Jacob all along has been living with a household thatwas deep necked in the worship of foreign gods. Beforethe call to return to Bethel, he was very muchcomfortable with what his household members weredoing. This is the tragedy that has befallen a goodnumber of Christian families. In some cases the fatherof the home has his own brand of foreign godsrepresented by the ungodly things that the fathercherishes. This same with the mother of the homeparading her foreign gods by the things she likes to do.The children are not left out who are the photocopy ofthe ungodly society in their various homes.When God called Jacob to go up to Bethel, it was onlythen that he remembered that the foreign gods cannotaccompany them to Bethel. Not only to get rid of thegods, it was also demanded of them to purifythemselves and the clothes that were not fit for Bethel. 41
