From Our Honorary ChairsTerry & Zulema Bassham Welcome and thank you for joining us for believe 2017, formerly known as Hope & All That Jazz. While the name of the event has changed, its purpose and mission remain the same – to inspire transformation for those who have been affected by domestic violence. In 1983, Independence Mayor Barbara Potts recognized the community needed to provide safe refuge for women and children whose lives were in danger. Thirty-four years later, the organization she helped found continues to be a beacon of hope in our community at-large. We are honored to be a part of this event that will raise the funds needed so survivors can find a safe refuge and take advantage of the support services provided by Hope House. As we gather tonight in the iconic Union Station, let us all go forward as strong ambassadors for the mission and work of Hope House because everyone deserves to live a life free of abuse. Hope House continues to strive for Mayor Potts’ wish to end domestic violence. With your support tonight you can make a life-saving difference. On behalf of our family and the KCP&L team, thank you for joining us and supporting Hope House in its relentless pursuit to bring prosperity and hope for all.
