For James, Whenever you tell me about the things you admire, I can see your eyes twinkle—like that of the stars on a clear night sky. And it always makes my heart flutter— like that of the wings of a butterfly; every time.
Introduction Since the moment I learnt how to write poetry and prose, I have had the urge to make a book with my writings in it; but never really made it happen until now. What One’s Heart Speaks Of is the beginning of something I’d continue doing in the next days of my existence. Like a well-fermented wine that you’d want to drown in so frequently. It is a book of prose, poems, and quotes that are inspired by a bottle of gin, life experiences, books, nature, poets and authors I admire, and the people I dearly love. All these were made mostly in the afternoons where one would be bathed in the setting sun’s golden beam and nights where one would be under the shining moon’s captivity. I progressively found myself drifting across the sea of serenity while letting my thoughts flow like that of the current. I hope you enjoy being carried off in the sea. —Celine C. vii
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Different Places We’re in two different places, yet I always feel that you’re here. You fill up the empty spaces, in my heart, in my room, here and there. We’re in two different places, yet I can see you everywhere. The space between our faces, it would vanish; if only I was there. 1
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Her Smile Like how a rainbow wonderfully arch over the seemingly calm blue sky makes me feel such great delight, her smile could make me feel just as dreamy as the rainbow would—her lovely smile undeniably makes my seemingly somber day a radiant one. 3
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of At Long Last There is not a single thing that I dream of you; but your gain, merriment, with peace of mind. And all the other things you mean to find—at long last. 5
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Find Ourselves Hopefully, we’d find ourselves in the same place; smiling brightly as our hearts race. Gradually, we’d find ourselves breathing the same air; kissing so softly as you tug my hair. Eventually, we’d find ourselves in our own paradise; wandering happily as I get lost in your eyes. 7
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Alike I unfalteringly know the difference between right and wrong. But whenever I feel your warm palms upon my bare skin, different unexpectedly becomes alike. 11
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Wonderful Mess Found myself waking up from last night’s mess, I felt a soft tug on the hem of my shirtdress, He asked where I was going then lets out a sigh, trying hard not to groan as he was grasping my thigh, The messed up place got even more messed up, the next thing I knew he was already on top, His loud piercing grunt matched my plangent purr, he took a grip on my neck and whispered on my ear, “You’re staying here. I will be wanting you every fucking day. I’m not even joking.” 13
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Adore You I adore you like how I adore the sun: shining so radiantly through the curtains every morning; make me feel sunny. I adore you like how I adore the moon: beaming so brightly on the window pane every night; make me feel ecstasy. 15
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Soberly Intoxicated There’s certainly something in her words that intoxicates me. Every time she asks, I’d go all the way down to answer him. I’d draw circles in response—not with a pen but with my tongue. 17
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Ivory One’s safe place is not always somewhere, it’s sometimes someone. And mine is called Ivory. Her eyes as bright as the stars, heart as soft as silk sheets, and tongue as sweet as honey. When all is said and done, she will always be my safe place—will always remain as a marvy memory. 19
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Captivated Whenever I gaze right into your eyes, they do exhibit so many feelings. There’s something I could not deny: often feeling a tug at my heartstrings. I very much know I’m in too deep— truly, captivated. 21
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Ruminating How I just love the sound of the sea rushing to shore. And I’m here sitting alone; thinking of that time you said, “I love you more.” 23
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Every Time Whenever you tell me about the things you admire, I can see your eyes twinkle—like that of the stars on a clear night sky. And it always makes my heart flutter—like that of the wings of a butterfly; every time. 25
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Pleasure From muffled groans to yelping cries, deep lust and love present in your eyes. To feel your warmth against my skin, those dally touch deeply sinking in. A very pleasure— always been. 27
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Thoughts of You The very thought of you whip up a fervent feeling— like the mad sea offshore; violently rushing. The very thought of you creates a sad sentiment— like a weeping cloud up in the sky; so eminent. The very thought of you foster a euphoric emotion— like that one bluebird soaring carefree; out in the open. 29
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Unbosoming I found myself quivering; the beat of my heart gradually intensifies as I wipe off the sweat breaking out on my temple. I never knew unbosoming your admiration for someone could be this tense. Even so, all the nervousness vanished when she finally responded. “So do I. Not forcefully or because you confessed but I do like you too, err, not platonic,” she uttered. And that’s when everything suddenly felt like heaven. 31
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Under the Moon Just lying down upon the grainy sand; stealing glances and holding hands. Speaking about nothing at all but life. As so it happens, you make me feel alive. Underneath the grand moonlit night; wholly glistening in Selene’s silvery light. 33
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Cloud Nine Perhaps it’s the way you let your hair down or the way you goof around; how you look great in any style or how your dimple appears when you smile— anywise, it makes me feel like I’m on cloud nine. 35
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Sunset I have always adored watching the sun— as it slowly goes down, till skies are golden. Still and all, I’ll never see a sweet sunset— that is unmistakably as lovely as you; I bet. And when you’re there under the afterglow, looking back at me— love persists to overflow. 37
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Spring Heartbreaks Springtime has finally come: The weather is warmer, Flowers have begun to bloom, And the days are longer. The season is here at last: Unlikely acts are yet to happen. Like how it is from the past, All my ships have sunken. Waves over me crashing: I’m drowning—getting in trouble. Blood on my cheeks rushing, Everything is left in rubble. Now I go somewhere the vodka reeks. Oh, my sweet spring heartbreaks. 39
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Befuddled The alcohol flowing through my veins could never make me feel as befuddled as she makes me. Now it’s just her and I on soft velvet covers: mouths converging hungrily, thighs spread out for my liking, and eyes too enticing for words. 41
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Can’t Make You As raindrops race to roll down on a blue-tinted glass window, an angel’s face evinced a frown; keenly imprinted with sorrow. As my tears flow, realizations arise: we should just let everything be. I mourn you and let out sighs; for I just can’t make you love me. 45
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Thy Eyes So, we have met: nine years ago, thy eyes were filled only with stars that glow, which made me feel thrilled. Now, we meet again: nine years later and, thy eyes now hold a galaxy that’s far greater than the universe can uphold. 51
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Your Photograph Every time I see your photograph, the jolt of happiness and excitement that once overpowered my soul suddenly vanished. It’s now replaced by a sharp pang of misery and indifference. 61
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Nostalgically New Kissing you was like getting off from a really pleasant train ride. I can’t even make up the faces that the people around me made, But, oh boy—their smiles. Their smiles are all I can clearly see. And it has evoked a nostalgically new feeling deep inside me; I’m so glad—I’ve never felt this much of an emotion before. And this gladness is now something I seriously, very much adore. 63
zWhat One’s Heart Speaks Of Better Burning bridges and cutting ties, with toxic people that I find vexatious—just full of lies; and with all the places that I won’t ever miss when I look at the skies; It’s the least thing I can do for me. Because I love me; I deserve better, and I know that I’m very worthy of much love and peace—not any lesser. 83
