Playing sports is fun, but getting hurt is not. Follow these steps to prevent injuries! Wear protective gear Helmets, pads and other gear helps keep you from getting hurt. Make sure you are wearing the right equipment for your sport and that everything fits snugly and comfortably. Talk with your parents or coach to see what gear you need for your sport! Warm up and cool down Do stretches to get loosened up and ready to play. If your muscles are warmed up and ready to go, you are much less likely to get hurt. Know the rules of the game If you know and follow the rules of the game, fewer injuries happen because you and the other players know what to expect from each other. Watch out for others Some rules are just there to protect other people and about being courteous. For instance, communicating on the field can help keep you safe. Don’t play when you are injured It’s tempting to jump right back in the game after an injury, but playing when you are hurt is a bad idea. It can lead to an even worse injury. Follow a doctor’s advice about how and when to return to practice and play! Under the guidance of the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), each school has established procedures to help keep campuses safe from COVID-19 outbreaks. Everyone is asked to follow guidelines. 342 Cox Blvd. • Sheffield • 256-383-4473 • shoalsprimarycarellc.com September 2020 www.kidsvillenews.com/shoals Kidsville News! 9

Well, it depends on the reason for the museum's establishment. It might be organized to celebrate the life of a given person. The Helen Keller home in Tuscumbia and the Frank Lloyd Wright and W.C. Handy homes in Florence are examples. It might be established to honor may people in a given field such as the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in Tuscumbia. Its purpose might be to portray the history of an institution, such as the Memorabilia Room for the Florence City Schools. The museum from which the items for this month's scavenger hunt was taken appears to have been organized to display items that were old, whether they represented the military or lives of local families or documents of local interest. 18 Kidsville News! www.kidsvillenews.com/shoals September 2020
