MEET LARRY BETLEJEWSKI PHCC OHIO PRESIDENT-ELECT A fter 27 years in the industry, Master Plumber Larry Betlejewski surprised himself a few months ago when he opened his own shop, Beetles Plumbing Solutions. “I never really wanted it until recently,” he said. “I think some of my motivation is my 19-year-old son’s passion for plumbing and the recent passing of my younger brother. These put my priorities in a better perspective of what I want to leave to this world when its my time to go.” So Larry went big with a full-service plumbing company serving primarily residential and commercial service and repair servicing most of Northeast Ohio. “We do everything from fixing a dripping  faucet, snaking a drain, or adding a bathroom in a basement or addition. I take a lot of pride in my workmanship and sense of accomplishment in knowing I made someone’s day a little better. I also really enjoy teaching our newer techs in this industry.” But not every plumbing situation is solved easily, Larry noted. “The most challenging situations I have found myself in are typically a hoarder house where there is little to no room to move or be able to diagnose a problem due to all the ‘stuff’ in the house. THE VALUE OF ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP “PHCC membership has meant a lot to me and the relationships I have developed over the years. I feel the best of the best belong to the PHCC and it has been great knowing all of us contractors go through the same problems with jobs, clients, employees, etc. There is a wealth of knowledge at our monthly meetings and for that brief time we don’t look at each other as competitors but as colleagues in the plumbing field. ACCO Past Presidents Seven contractors got together because of threats to the mechanics lien law. Mike Callahan from Columbus agreed to chair the organization. With seed money from Cincinnati, Columbus and the now defunct Ohio Valley Sheet Metal Association, the group was able to get all the trades involved in the “battle” and ultimately the group won. A convention was held in Columbus in 1977 where officers were elected and the vision was to get contractors involved from every section of the state. W. Michael Callahan, Columbus 1976-1977 Robert A.
