The aim of this highly interactive workshop is to develop skills and confidence in meeting the essential requirements of the Final Examination. Included are exercises in case analysis, diagnosis and treatment planning. It forms a unique preparation program for the essentially clinical nature of the Final Examination. The workshop provides participants with the opportunity to practise presenting cases and discussing treatment options. It has previously demonstrated very successful outcomes and attracted positive responses. Some feedback from participants: • It provided a realistic viewpoint of how to prepare for exams, while encouraging us to do so. • The interaction with other candidates and lecturers offered an extra dimension to my thinking. • The workshop was very helpful to understand the exam process and pointed out current issues in the profession. It was an excellent tool to prepare for the exam and bring participants together. The workshop is facilitated by a number of Final Examiners and comprises whole group lectures, focusing on how to succeed in written papers and how to prepare for a clinical examination; as well as small group exercises. Small groups work together analyzing sample cases and generating treatment plans from group discussion. Attendance at the workshop attracts 14 CPD hours/points, and even if you are unsure about registration for examination you might appreciate the opportunity for collegial and informal communication with like-minded candidates. The 2012 workshop will be held on 23 & 24 June 2012 at Westmead Centre for Oral Health, Westmead Hospital, Sydney. Registrations close on 1 May 2012.
