FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS Fundamental rights are the basic rights guaranteed by the constitution for the welfare of the common people. UNITY IN DIVERSITY Unity is the sense or state of not being multiple ; The sense of considering everyone as one,single,whole. In the words of first PM Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, the diversity of India is tremendous;it lies on the surface and anybody can see it. Ever since after the 12 year global slide,113 countries have seen a net decline,and only 62 countries have seen a net improvment.

if rights violate, then? \" To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity, \"said Nelson Mandela\" REALITY CHECK Being a resident of a democratic country, it is quite obvious that all of us must have come across such statements indicating and stressing the very importance of democracy but, we hardly get to hear about the statements and articles that shed some light on the possible actions and steps we can take in case any of our rights is violated. GOVT. OF INDIA ENSURES GUARANTEE OF HUMAN RIGHTS It is quite important to note that every fundamental right is subject to the Constitution of India. Thus, the Constitution has set up certain departments which develop complaint mechanism for the common people. NHRC is an example of one such department which guarantees the smooth and active functioning of the rights.

FUNCTIONS OF NHRC To investigate complaints regarding the violation of human rights . To investigate the failure of duties on the part of any public official in preventing the violation of human rights. To intervene in any judicial proceedings involving any allegation of violation of human rights. To review the safeguards provided under the constitution or any law for the protection of the human rights and to recommend appropriate remedial measures. To undertake and promote research in the field of human rights. To encourage the efforts of the non- governmental organisations working in the field of human rights. To review all facts related to the activities of the terrorists which obstruct the way of the Protection of human rights .
