There are various ways to perform what-if analysis in electronic spreadsheets such as applying scenarios, goal-seek etc. Scenario is a way to define a set of values which can be applied on an existing data-set. The original data-set is substituted by the scenario data-set and user can analyse the changes. Goal seek feature is used when we need to assess the impact of change in a data value on another data value. Using goal seek we can determine the input for a desired output. For example, how many marks are needed to score total percentage 90% 13. What problem does relative hyperlinking overcome? Explain with a small example. Ans. Source document (that contains hyperlinks to other files) and the linked files are often stored in different folders. We often move and copy files into different folders. Due to this, linked files become inaccessible through hyperlink as their location gets changed. To avoid this problem, we need to determine the common folder path between the source file and the linked files. If we do not change the common folder path the relative hyperlinking remains intact. For example: Source file path: D:\\myreports\\2021\\Main.xls Linked files are on the path: D:\\myreports\\2021\\Quarters\\Quarter1 Relative hyperlink: \\Quarters\\Quarter1 14. Which limitation of flat file system is resolved by relational database model? Ans. Flat file system such as spreadsheets are good to store smaller data sets for analysis but they cannot take care of redundant data and storage of invalid data as compared to databases. Managing data (update, delete, insert) also becomes difficult and may lead to data redundancy and accidental loss of data. Relational databases take care of these problems through multiple tables related on common fields (primary key value matching with foreign key) and applying suitable referential integrity. 15. How WWW is different form internet? Ans. Internet is the worldwide network composed of computers and digital devices sharing information over various communication channels such as telephone lines, satellite and wireless protocols. A table of contents (ToC) contains the numbered list of topics in a document and the page number on which they are located. In the soft copy of the document, each entry in the ToC functions as an internal hyperlink to the topic content. A ToC can be created automatically in any word processor by applying various styles on the headings in the documents which are needed to include in the ToC. It is necessary that document contains adequately defined standard headings such as Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3 etc. To create a ToC in the document, first place the cursor where you need the ToC to appear (usually in the beginning of the document), then go to Reference tab. Click on Table of Contents drop-down in Table of Contents group. Choose any automatic style. 18. Write a brief note on the significance of sharing worksheets in an online work environment stressing on the advantages of sharing. Ans. Sharing means use of a resource by multiple users either simultaneously or on need basis. The same is true for worksheets. Worksheets help in storing data in a symmetrical and tabular form, perform calculations using various formulas and functions and analyse the data. For multiple users, as many copy need to be created and then update of all such worksheets is a difficult task which leads to errors and data loss. To avoid such problems, it is a good practice to share the same worksheet among all the users by keeping it at a public location such as cloud drive or a shred drive. Sharing eliminates the need of maintaining multiple copies of same data and helps in easy track of who made what changes in the data by using another feature called tracking and reviewing. This necessary step comes under preparing the sheet for sharing. 19. What is an RDBMS? Why do we need a database to manage data of any enterprise? Ans. Organised arrangement of data is called a database. A relational database management system is a software application that stores data in one or more tables called relations. These tables are related with each other through common fields to retrieve complete information whenever needed. Databases are indispensable for all kinds of industries. A scenario is a set of assumed but realistic values that are applied on the original data-set to analyse different situations predicted in the scenario. For example, to observe how the average percentage of students will change by applying different marks we can create desired scenarios to be applied on the actual data set shown below: STUDENT ACADEMICS COCURRICULAR SPORTS AVERAGE PERCENT ANU 78 98 67 81 RAVI 89 78 87 85 AMIT 93 89 88 90 RAJ 59 88 93 80 Various scenarios can include different marks for each column for each student. Goal seek allows us to determine the input for a desired output. In the following example, teacher needs to know how much should have been the percentage marks in ACADEMICS (cell A3) to achieve the AVERAGE (D3) of 75% (output value). The goal-seek has shown that in cell A3 value 68 will bring average of 75 in cell D3. 19. Various scenarios can include different marks for each column for each student. Ans.
