the hero's journey THE KNOWN

PHASE ONE. CALLING TO ADVENTURE. Once upon a time there was a school called the Academy of Resilience, where teachers and students were recognized for their courage and willingness to venture into the world of learning. One day, in a vibrant classroom, teacher Edu was telling the students about the brave story of a young hero named Vital. Vital was an ordinary student of the Resilience Academy who felt a strong calling, deep in his heart. He had a burning passion for exploration and was eager to discover the world beyond the school area. Every night his dreams took him to faraway lands with fantastic creatures and thrilling adventures. One day, when the school's geography teacher, Mr. Geo, presented them with a topic about famous explorers, Vital felt that the moment of his calling had arrived. As he listened to the stories of brave explorers who blazed new trails and discovered unknown lands, his heart began to tremble. He knew it was time to start his own journey as an explorer. That evening, Vital hatched his plan to venture on a voyage of discovery. He prepared a backpack with supplies, a map and a compass and wrote a letter to his teachers and classmates, sharing his passion and desire to explore the world around him, the world beyond the school area. The wait until morning was full of excitement and anticipation... The next day, when the sun rose, Vital set out on his adventure full of confidence and courage. Walking on unknown paths, he discovered amazing landscapes and met people with fascinating life stories. Every step he took was a new lesson and an attempt to overcome his fears and limits. As his journey progressed, Vital realized that exploration was not only about discovering new places, but also about discovering his own inner resources. For he felt something, there, in his heart... He learned to listen to self intuition and trust its powers. Every challenge he encountered along the way offered him a chance to grow and develop. During his adventure, Vital discovered a secret community hidden deep in an enchanted forest. There, he was welcomed by a wise teacher named Maia, who was known for her wisdom and ability to guide brave souls on their path. 12 Hero's Journey for building Resilience. ACTIVITY TOOLKIT

Maia revealed to Vital that the Resilience Academy was in reality a special place, but it was a place where students and teachers only learned from books, and not from their own experiences as well. It was a place where courage and exploration were still undiscovered, though each member of the Academy had a story of adventure and learning to share. With Maia's wisdom and guidance, Vital began the real adventure. He set out to find new places and discover the inner realm of his own soul. Maia told him that every challenge or trial that man encounters in life is an opportunity to grow, learn and become a better version of himself. Ultimately, Vital returned to the Resilience Academy, sharing his story and learnings with his teachers and peers. From his experience, he understood that the adventure never ends and that there are always new paths to explore and discover. Thus, the Resilience Academy has become a place where teachers and students encourage each other to follow their call to adventure, explore their limits and develop their courage and resilience. Their stories of courage and exploration continue to inspire and transform, building a powerful school of heroes of hearts and minds. This is just the first step - story in the \"Hero's Journey for Building Resilience\" Toolkit for Academy teachers and students. Each story that follows will reveal new lessons, challenges and wisdom, contributing to the growth and development of those involved in this journey of courage. Students and teachers couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen in the next step of their personal and professional development journey. One sunny morning, as the students gathered in the classroom, a wise and mysterious presence appeared in their class. He was the Mentor, a person with extensive experience in education, prepared to guide and inspire young people in their search for themselves. The mentor, with his gentle look and smile, told students and teachers about the importance of a guide in their journey to courage and personal development. He emphasized that a mentor is not only someone who teaches others, but also someone who gives them support, inspiration and confidence to reach their full potential. As part of the second stage of their journey, students and teachers were encouraged to identify their own mentors, experienced persons who can provide valuable guidance and advice in their personal and professional development. Each member of the Resilience Academy was encouraged to share their story with their chosen mentor and establish an authentic and valuable connection. Within this step, students were encouraged to meet their own mentors, share experiences and receive guidance in their development. Teachers, in turn, were encouraged to seek mentors and expand their networks of support and experience sharing. During mentor meetings, students and teachers were encouraged to ask questions, discuss their challenges and aspirations and receive valuable guidance to develop their skills and potential. PHASE THREE. CROSSING THE THRESHOLD. With the emotional charge of the mentor meetings just over, the students and teachers of the Resilience Academy were looking forward to the next story of their journey: Crossing the Threshold. In it, each participant would face a personal fear, step outside their comfort zone and take action to achieve their personal and professional development goals. On the first day of the Crossing the Threshold phase, the students and teachers of Resilience Academy gathered in the school's courtyard. There they were met by an experiential guide who would lead them through their adventure of courage and self- discovery. The guide explained that this part of their journey would be the most challenging and exciting as they would face their own fears and test their personal limits. In this phase, it was not only about theoretical learning, but also about putting into practice their knowledge and skills in a real and personal context. And they didn't know how to do that... The guide invited students and teachers to set their own personal and professional development goals and identify the fears that were holding them back. Each participant was given a paper and pencil and encouraged to write down this information. After identifying their personal fears and goals, students and teachers were divided into small groups and given a series of tasks and challenges. Tasks involved facing personal fears and making brave decisions to achieve their goals. Some of these tasks included public speaking, trying new activities such as climbing a wall or dancing in front of a group, or making important decisions such as choosing a career. During tasks and challenges, students and teachers were encouraged to give each other support and encouragement, to share experiences. As groups completed their challenges and tasks, participants gathered in a circle and shared their experiences. This was an important moment of reflection and learning where each participant was able to reflect on their fears, successes and lessons learned during this phase of their journey. By sharing their experiences, students and teachers discovered they were not alone in their struggle with fears and journey to courage and personal growth. The guide encouraged participants to reflect on the challenges they had overcome and how they felt after these experiences. Students and teachers realized that crossing the threshold and facing personal fears brought with it a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. Hero's Journey for building Resilience. ACTIVITY TOOLKIT 21

The next part of the Crossing the Threshold storyline involved creating a personalized action plan for each participant. Students and teachers were encouraged to determine their next steps of their personal and professional development. They considered the lessons learned and successes achieved during the challenges and set realistic and achievable goals. Participants were encouraged to tap into their inner resources and seek support in their community. Students and teachers were encouraged to continue connecting with their mentors and support each other on their journey to courage and personal growth. As the story stage drew to a close, the atmosphere in the Resilience Academy was filled with energy and confidence. All of them felt encouraged to take on new challenges and explore their potential further. With each step they took to face their fears and achieve their goals, Resilience Academy teachers and students grew stronger and more confident in their own ability to build resilience and follow their passions. Thus, the story of the Academy of Resilience continued to unfold, and students and teachers entered the next stage of their journey of personal and professional development, ready to face new challenges and discover new aspects of courage and resilience. 22 Hero's Journey for building Resilience. PHASE FOUR. TESTS AND TRIALS. With excitement growing and curiosity piqued, the teachers and students of Resilience Academy were preparing for the fourth story in their journey of personal and professional development. It was called \"Tests and Trials\" and promised them new challenges and learning experiences. On a sunny morning, teachers and students gathered in the classroom, eager to find out what was going to happen on this new road of their journey. The mentor, always present at key moments, appeared in their midst, emanating a calmness and wisdom that immediately captivated them. The mentor began his story by talking about the importance of challenges and trials in the process of personal growth and development. He highlighted that while it can be intimidating to face challenges, they are an opportunity to learn and test one's limits. To really understand the lessons these challenges may offer, teachers and students were invited to choose their own \"proofs\". These could be different for each person, depending on their personal interests and desires. Each participant was encouraged to set a personal goal and a challenge to overcome in the next period. This could be related to learning, developing a skill, exploring a new field or any other experience that helped them develop personally and professionally. Teachers and students were encouraged to share their goals with the rest of the group, creating an environment of mutual support and encouragement. The mentor pointed out that during these trials and tests, it is important to provide support and constructive feedback to other members of the Resilience Academy. Understand what Constructive feedback is a process where constructive feedback is someone gives you honest and helpful feedback to help you improve. It's like getting tips and suggestions to help you do things better. It is oriented toward finding solutions and growth, not toward criticism or blame. The goal is to get information to help you understand how you can improve and get an objective perspective on what you can work on more. It's important to receive feedback in a respectful way and see it as an opportunity to learn and grow, because constructive feedback can help you become better at what you do. 26 Hero's Journey for building Resilience. ACTIVITY TOOLKIT

During this storytelling step, teachers and students made a commitment to confront their personal challenges and learn from their experience. Each person was encouraged to develop their resilience and use their inner resources to face obstacles and achieve success. As time went on and each participant progressed toward their personal goals, the excitement and energy in the Resilience Academy grew. Students and teachers began to share their experiences and support each other during these challenges. In these tests and trials, teachers and students experienced successes and failures, and the mentor highlighted the importance of learning from the moments when things didn't go as expected. The mentor's wisdom and experience were invaluable in these situations, providing guidance and encouragement to overcome obstacles and continue to learn from experiences. At the end of this phase, the Resilience Academy organized a presentation of the results obtained by each participant. Each person had the opportunity to share their chosen challenge, the obstacles they faced and the results. This presentation was a moment of inspiration and encouragement for the entire Resilience Academy community, demonstrating everyone's strength and potential. The \"Tests and Trials\" story proved that by pushing one's own limits and accepting challenges, teachers and students can discover new capacities and inner resources. They learned to face fear and follow their passions, becoming stronger and more confident in their own journey of personal and professional development. With the learnings and experiences gained during this phase, the teachers and students of the Academy of Resilience were preparing to ascend to the next step of their becoming, in search of deeper purpose and personal fulfillment.
