MARCH 26, 2019 VOL. 1, ISSUE 3 Fellow Tigers, Andrew and I are humbled and excited to be serving as the Student Body President and Vice President for the 2019-2020 school year. During our upcoming term, we will continue to focus on advancing the Student Body in the three areas that we believe are core to every Clemson student's experience: academics, school spirit, and community. We believe these three pillars are what makes Clemson student's so unique and highly valued. As we move towards becoming a Top 20 University, we want to make sure Clemson stays true to its heart - the students who attend our great University. We are looking forward to furthering our relationships with Administrators and advocating on behalf of the Student Body. In addition, we are looking forward to the advancement of CUSG. We confidently believe in all three branches of CUSG to unite and ensure our Student Body is the top priority in all areas of campus. Lastly, it is often said that the value of the tiger paw has never been higher. In a similar fashion, this year's election has shown us that the value of our seats in CUSG has never been higher; let us not take them for granted. With You, For Clemson.

MARCH 26, 2019 VOL. 1, ISSUE 3 RESOLUTION REVIEW The inspiration for Senate resolution 5 came about in light of multiple public bias incidents in the Clemson community that negatively affected Clemson students, faculty, and staff, particularly in the 2018-2019 school year. The purpose of Senate resolution 5 is to encourage Clemson’s Executive Leadership Team to respond to public bias incidents against Clemson students, faculty, and staff. The scope of the resolution covers bias incidents both on campus and in the surrounding Clemson community as well as in-person or on social media. Overall, this resolution aims to encourage Clemson to take its current response system to bias incidents one step further by encouraging the release of public statements from the University, when deemed appropriate, condemning bias incidents that are inconsistent with the University’s core values and with the ClemsonForward Strategic Plan. By encouraging the University to release powerful statements against these types of incidents, this resolution aims to promote inclusion on campus by demonstrating the University’s unequivocal support of its students, faculty, and staff in light of bias, discrimination, racism, or hate directed towards anyone in the Clemson Family. The next steps include speaking with and encouraging both faculty and graduate senate to debate and vote on this resolution within their respective legislative bodies and to continue conversations with administrators on campus about increasing the University’s public responses to bias incidents when deemed necessary and appropriate to better campus climate and the Clemson experience for all students.
