POEM The Door of Success We all wish to open the door of success. But before that we have to move through the path of hard work, and find the key. We will have a lot of traps on the path... but that should not force us to look at the footprints that we left behind. We should work like a Trojan, to find the key. Like a snake and ladder... we fail at the first try, But we should not give up and let out a cry. Try again and again until you find the key. Remember, you are finding the key more precious than gold. We are not finding success for others sake, but it›s for our future needs. Veda Vimble Grade 5A POEM A Good Book A good book can make you wonder, Has words that strike like thunder. A good book is a treasure, Filled to the brim with pleasure. A good book can inspire, And end desire. A good book can light you from the ground, And take you all around. A good book can fill your mind, With subjects of every kind. A good book can make you strong, Just by singing a little song. A good book is a great friend, Who’ll stay till the end. Karen Sarju 8A 51 SPANDAN - BHAVANS WISE INDIAN ACADEMY

POEM 52 The Sky The sky has a handsome Sun and a handsome Moon. The Sun Appears in Morning and the Moon Appears at the night. The Sky has clouds. The clouds make rain and help the crops grow. The sky curiously asked the clouds “Why are you making Rain?” “The cloud said because I can help farmers.” ‘Good’ Said the sky. ‘Thanks’ said the clouds. Now the sky said You’re looking Beautiful in the night. I mean the stars make you Look nice. ‘Thanks’ said the sky ‘The sky’ ‘The sky’ ‘The sky’ is like a wonderland. It has a lot many things to do. POEM POEM Silver Dotted Threads Behind Bars I crave that I was the rain, Have you ever perceived Rolling from the sky like a chain.. Animals being caged Bestowing all its drops, All alone in the zoo To grow all the crops... Slightly silent too Rain are the pearls on earth, Their world was once They whistle with a breeze, Enjoyment with their loving ones That gives life from its birth..... Celebrating the family tree The cold making us freeze... Roaming around, free When living beings starve, In the world we have now They arrive to solve... People are being caged somehow Thinking how to begin, The enclosed world of covid And sprightly starting to blow in... Recalling memories which are vivid Rain crop up with a hope, Remember those innocent creatures That they›ll always give us a drop.. Mind full of fractures They›ll arrive when in need. Scanning their home from far To assist us in beads... Remember there›s a life behind bars They are the silver dotted threads, -Siya Parveen In the way they spread… And clear off with a pain... They go off in a chain, - Siya Parveen 53 SPANDAN - BHAVANS WISE INDIAN ACADEMY

POEM Perhaps the universe seeks it›s silence back, Because the noise has become deafening Perhaps the planet seeks it›s peace back, Since man›s impact has left it shuddering. But why, that›s an insult For man bestowed heaven upon earth, He killed and jailed to feed the hearth He ruled, and so did he hail He left sparkles in his trail As he promptly carved his fate And led oneself to one›s own end. POEM It is unknown, after death, if we do transcend Into a realm devoid of love or hate A Poem Where fulfillment is purely spiritual And mere existence is a holy ritual. I read them and recite them, And now I must write them, But until then it›s still our duty to fend I pray before the start, For the planet and its inhabitants For inspirations and for words, Every night, I fall asleep greatly disturbed To flow from my heart. Fearing if this is the night, When it all comes to an end. Still worried and I have a fright About who and what to write? -Samiksha, The few lines that I have written 9A are, but my feelings and thoughts. I hope they read like poetry. And not a note. A poem, a poem, I am glad I have written one. It was easier than I thought, And real nice Fun, I hope by now, You’ve learned the art, After learning your thoughts, From better into verse, Just say your prayers, And you›re ready to start. -Ridhima Rangesh 9A 55 SPANDAN - BHAVANS WISE INDIAN ACADEMY

ARTICLE WHAT IS THE FASTEST TICKECT TO HAPPINESS? Humans strive to be happy. We want health, wealth, love, prosperity, peace; aren’t they all contributing to our end goal? Happiness? What if there was an easy way to happiness? Where you don’t need to work hard, nor do you need to chase anything. There is one way. Romanticizing life itself. Life. This one-syllable holds more meaning than the deepest trench, the highest mountain and the vast universe. It’s strange how life has many sides to it, threatening to shatter for one while being the genie in a lamp for the other. Life can be the cause of your death, your hopelessness, your weakness. Life can be the cause of your success, your prosperity, your strength. What is it that makes life, life? Why is it a hard concept for many philosophers to deduce? Is it life’s versatility? Or maybe it›s many ways? We can’t know for sure, but I know that life is our very tool that’ll guide you to eternal happiness. romanticize deal with or describe in an idealized or unrealistic fashion; make (something) seem better or more appealing than it is. Romanticizing life is the easiest way to get to your goal. It’s not easy for many, mind you. It’s difficult for many to look on the positive side because the grass on the other side is always greener. But there’s always positivity in the air. Maybe it’s us who’s too blind to see the various colours life has to offer. Maybe we’re the ones, who’re too busy to notice the small things that make life, life. Once we pay attention, once we open our eyes, and once we fully accept life, who knows, we might just be happier. Pause to appreciate the small things in life, however small they may be. How every sip of your coffee was neither too hot nor too cold. Just perfect. How you folded your blanket almost close to perfect not for the first time, but still worthy of your attention. How you found the motivation to even get up in the morning. How you completed your homework 1 min earlier than the deadline. How your morning walk felt tiresome, but the surroundings made it better. How your favourite songs played on the radio. How your mother made food like any other day, but still as delectable. How you stood in your balcony contemplating on life. How you only thought of positive things throughout the day. SPANDAN - BHAVANS WISE INDIAN ACADEMY 58

How water feels so refreshing to drink. How the way you type on your keyboard seems aesthetic. How you got one more like on that Instagram post. How you updated your status after a long time. How a certain quote on Pinterest inspired you. How your vision board looks just as aesthetic as those YouTubers. How you found another good profile pic for your social media. How you completed one task on your to-do list. Every little thing can bring you happiness. It can something as small as almost falling because of being clumsy but regaining balance just as quickly, or something really big as achieving the best grade out of your entire class. Don’t let life give you a reason to be happy, find reasons to be happy yourself. I assure you, there are many. Nivedita Sailesh Grade 10A 59 SPANDAN - BHAVANS WISE INDIAN ACADEMY

STORY CROSSROADS The small light bulb had in it the strength to illuminate my large study room. It was past bedtime, but the books kept me awake. I grazed my fingers on the many books I’d owned, hoping to find something to keep me occupied when my insomnia had taken over me. The minutes ticked by, and with every one of them, my eyes started drooping. “Oh boy-” I slightly whispered and sat down to rest my head on the table, catch a few minutes of sleep and get back to reading. I must have been pretty sleepy, because the far edge of the corridor had a small light, almost like a wisp of fairy dust. I reminded myself I’m not at Hogwarts nor Narnia, I’m just alone in my very huge house or rather, mansion, and there’s no way there’s fairy dust in here. Hours passed by, and I had accidently slept at least a dozen times. I got up and willed myself to get going to my bedroom. A sudden movement in the corridor caught my eye. And this time, I was sure there was some fairy dust in there. I shook my head and made it clear I wasn’t going to venture in there, but I wanted to. Fairy dust or not, I’m going there. Just as I began walking, out the study room and towards the end of the corridor, a slow but audible growl echoed. The halls were empty and huge and it was almost impossible to guess where the growl came from. But I knew. I knew where it was from, and this gave me more the reason to walk towards the end of the corridor. As I neared a dead end, I realized the fairy dust was just a fragment of my imagination. The corridor was too dark and the light switch seemed to always disappear when I need it the most. SPANDAN - BHAVANS WISE INDIAN ACADEMY 60

You could say, I was at a crossroad, but I had a clear choice in mind. The first door was the door to the storage room my aunt never let me in to. She used to say it had all sorts of mysterious antique stuff, ranging from artefacts to her personal diary. The second door, however was where I would wait outside when I was a -4year old, for my aunt to come out of. The room behind that door was one my aunt always seemed to visit. My choice was pretty clear. It was the second door. I reached out to the doorknob, and there it was. The slow and audible growl again. I smiled at myself. This time too, I knew where it was coming from. I opened the door. I walked in. And took out the leftovers of the pie from the refrigerator. My stomach’s growls were very desperate but I had seemed to tone it down with the blueberry pie. You could say the growls didn’t come back for a few solid hours. Why wasn’t the room all mysterious? Why didn’t it have a portal to another dimension? Why wasn’t anything in the room dangerous? Why wasn’t the growl from a huge tiger? Because, sometimes, life can be simple. There’s no need of fantasy and adventures when you can enjoy a slice of blueberry pie. -NIVEDITA Grade 10A 61 SPANDAN - BHAVANS WISE INDIAN ACADEMY

Climate change \" We have a single mission : to protect and hand on the planet to next generation.\" - Francois Hollande President of France Climate Change has become a reality much faster than all scenarios predicted. Climate change is not just an environmental issue, as too many people still believe. It is an all-encompassing threat, to health, to agriculture, to peace and security, to the very ground millions of people live on, to the global economy. We are now at a point where even the last government has given up denying this reality. Storms, droughts and rising sea levels are bleak signs of what we are facing. Large regions will become uninhabitable because they will be either flooded or get hardly any rainwater at all. Developing countries are going to suffer disproportionately if the global community continues the game that almost everybody waits for someone else to take action. Rising temperatures in the air and in water are literally destroying the habitat of the iconic glaciers . Between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250 000 additional deaths per year, from malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea and heat stress. If we do not do anything and things continue to go on like right now then a day in future will come when humans will become extinct from the surface of the earth. But instead of neglecting these problems we start acting on then we can save the earth and our future. Although humans mistake has caused great damage to the climate and ecosystem. But, it is not late to start again and try to undo what we have done until now to damage the environment. And if every human start contributing to the environment then we can be sure of our existence in the future. Done by : Sanjana Shaju Grade : 9 A SPANDAN - BHAVANS WISE INDIAN ACADEMY 64
