I received my first Phoenix grill for Father’s Day in 1998. It was the best grill I’d ever had and I had had several at that point. On some built-in grills, the model number tag wll be on the underside of the grease tray. M aterial Peeling Inside Top Casting There is no paint applied on the inside of your grill lid. What you are seeing is a carbon build-up. It does resemble peeling paint, but it is simply grease/food residue that can be scraped off. You can use a wadded up ball of aluminum foil, or a plastic flat blade putty knife to scrape off the majority of the food build-up. The loosened material can then be removed with a shop vac. Which way do you put in a battery in my ignitor? Positive side goes down. Flames have come out the front of my grill by my knobs This is called a Flashback. Flash backs are caused from an obstruction in either your venturi tubes or in the orifice’s. T he inside of my grill paint is peeling; can I repaint the inside of my grill? Weather conditions such as heavy winds and rain will factor in to the life expectancy of the mantles due to their delicate nature. As a general rule you should expect them to last 3 to 4 months. What if the ceramic ring on the MTL2 mantle is a bit too small because of the ceramic tabs and will not fit on the burner tip? A small file can be used to file down each of the tabs on the ceramic ring to make them hang properly on the burner tip. Do you offer a wall mount gas lamp option? No, unfortunately the wall mount versions of the lamps were discontinued several years ago. Can you have the electronic start on a lamp with dual inverted mantles? No, due to the delicate nature of the mantles they are prone to breaking and are intended to be lit 24/7. Which lamp burner style creates the brightest light? The dual inverted burner option offers the brightest light followed by the upright burner option. The open flame burner option is for more of an ambiance rather than light. Are the torches UL or CSA approved? Unfortunately we are not able to have the torches UL or CSA approved because currently there are no standards set for them to test against for this type of product.96
