I am a graduate of MA (Hons) InteriorArchitecture atUniversity of Arts in Poznan,Poland.Interior design interests me the most for its influenceon psyche, feelings and behaviour of people who areentering the space. Interior arrangement enforcescertain ways of behaviour, encourages some activitiesand eliminates others. It is a way of communicationbetween the space users and the rest of the world,a manifestation of their values, goals and lifestyle.I still look for new challenges and opportunities toengage in interesting projects, which could developmy consciousness as a designer. My previousexperience in interior architecture I gained workingat KREACJA PRZESTRZENI, an interior designstudio in Poznan, as well as during the internship atASTOUNDING INTERIOR DESIGN in Maidstone,Kent, and at STUDIO DAVID THULSTRUP inCOPENHAGEN.I presented my projects both in Poland, during ArenaDesign at Poznan International Fair, and abroad, during Italian MILAN DESIGNWEEK,ZonaTortona. My free time I often spend drawing or painting, whichI consider to complement my design activities.Let me show you some of my works... - Monika Idziak // 03

.... .... .... LOCATION: + Wełna river bankWATER SEEDS FLOUR + village Ruda near Rogoźno + Greater Poland CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MILL: + built in the 30s of the 20th century + stands on a small island at the bend of the river + originally powered by a water turbine + specific building construction with dark bricks, light oak and dark painted wood as dominants + contains well preserved old mill machines MAIN DESIGN GOALS: + to focus on the original function of the building as well as the tradition of milling and bread baking + to preserve the old facade of the building + to keep the atmosphere of the old mill inside + to highlight connections between the mill and the river + to give the building new features that will bring tourists interest + to create an adjustable space, suitable for many activities organised for groups of visitors PROPOSED SPACE FUNCTIONS: + an exhibition of old mill machines + a lunch bar overlooking the river with a place for baking bread + a cafe + a kayak rental + a staff room (office with a separate entrance to the building), a kitchen

The project involves an ADAPTATION of the old mill, a water turbine building, aswell as a smaller outbuilding. Moreover, it includes a proposed EXTENSION of theoutbuilding, stylistically contrasting with the existing architecture. The main feature of this project is a CONNECTION OF COMMUNICATIONroutes in all buildings,a combination of exhibition and gastronomic functions (a lunchbar on the ground floor plus a cafe on the first floor), and a smooth educational trailleading through the exhibition on 3 levels of the building. The architectural extension uses a proximity to the river and thanks to its largeglazing allows visitors to stay in a constant contact with the water. There are two reconcilable communication routes inside the building: one for staffand one for visitors. Two staircases and an elevator provide an easy access to all levelsfor DISABLED visitors.Kayak rental has a separate, very wide entrance that allows to transfer kayakscomfortably, without any interference with communication involved with otherbuilding functions. Standing next to the river bank, it facilitates transporting kayaksinto the water. // 21
