Only 5 modules required for full qualification WSQ GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN PRECISION ENGINEERING - MECHATRONICS The Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Graduate Diploma in Precision Engineering - Mechatronics is a joint initiative of the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) and the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). The course aims to provide participants with the fundamentals and capabilities in applying multi-disciplinary and integrated approaches for developing high value industrial equipment and products such as precision machining tools, semiconductor equipment, measurement and optical instruments. Why This Course The course is delivered through a series of lectures, hands-on practical training sessions and case studies by SIMTech researchers with comprehensive industrial experiences. It provides the participants unique opportunities to learn and apply the competencies for increasing accuracy, throughput and effectiveness of precision manufacturing systems. Industry Relevance This course is targeted at engineers, supervisors, managers, researchers, and technicians, in the precision engineering, aerospace, optics, and semiconductor industries. Course Modules and Fees Participants will be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Precision Engineering after successfully completing five modules. Alternatively, participants will be awarded a WSQ Statement of Attainment electronic certificate for passing any individual module of their choice. Module 1 | Design Precision Machines (42 hours) Full Course Fee: $3,000 (before SkillsFuture Funding & GST) This highly practical course provides participants with the fundamentals of the basic precision engineering principles and the state-of-the-art concepts for achieving high precision and accuracy in machines and products. The course covers the applications of the key mechanical components and practical approaches for machines and mechanisms design and analysis. Case studies are included to help participants to gain the knowledge for addressing the real-world industrial needs. Module 2 | Enhance Control Performance of Precision Machines (42 hours) Full Course Fee: $3,000 (before SkillsFuture Funding & GST) This module equips participants with the competencies needed to analyse, design, and tune controllers for precision control. Participants will learn various issues and challenges in this niche field, the capabilities of the state-of-the-art controllers, and latest advances in actuation and sensing technologies used in precision engineering. Various case studies on error compensation, self-calibration, as well as practical implementation for control in areas such as piezoelectric motors, voice coil motors, and permanent magnet linear motors will be used to demonstrate the techniques that can be applied to engineering issues in day-to-day operations. Module 3 | Develop Machine Health Monitoring Techniques (42 hours) Full Course Fee: $3,000 (before SkillsFuture Funding & GST) This module covers the principles and techniques for monitoring machine health and controlling vibration in equipment and machineries. Techniques of signal extraction, fault diagnosis and prognosis will be introduced. Case studies will be included for enhancing the knowledge in vibration analysis and condition monitoring for machine structures and rotating machines. At the end of this module, participants are expected to be equipped with critical competencies in dealing with issues that affect effectiveness and precision capabilities of machines and equipment. Module 4 | Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (45 hours) Full Course Fee: $3,000 (before SkillsFuture Funding & GST) This module aims to teach participants the knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) controls used in parts and assemblies design. Practical sessions are provided to enhance the understanding of the critical concepts. Upon completion of this module, the participants are expected to be able to inspect parts defined in GD&T. Module 5 | Plan and Manage Project for Implementation (30 hours) Full Course Fee: $4,000 (before SkillsFuture Funding & GST) This module covers the methods for planning, executing and managing projects for developing technology, products and processes. It teaches the applications of project planning tools and skills for managing uncertainties and disruptions in project activities. Human, financial and business factors that influence the conduct of projects will be considered and explored. For more information about each module, please visit KTO.SIMTech.a-star.edu.sg Course Funding • All Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 21 years and above can enjoy SkillsFuture funding of up to 70% of the course fee. • Singaporean or Permanent Resident employees fully sponsored by SMEs can enjoy SkillsFuture funding support of up to 90% of the course fee under the Enhanced Training Support for Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) scheme, subject to eligibility criteria. • Singaporeans aged 40 years and above can enjoy SkillsFuture funding of up to 90% of the course fee under the Mid-career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES). • Singaporeans aged 35 years and above with earnings not more than S$2,000 per month can enjoy SkillsFuture funding for up to 95% of the course fee under the Workfare Training Support (WTS) scheme. • Singaporeans aged 25 years old and above are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit which can be used to offset course fees (for self-sponsored registrations only).
