Apply Robotics for Manufacturing Automation (42 hours) Skills Course Reference Number: CRS-Q-0038630 To increase productivity, industrial robots remain a popular choice in substituting manual operations. However, successful implementation of robotic automation requires a certain level of knowledge and competencies. This course provides participants with the fundamental knowledge of industrial robots for implementation. It conducts practical industrial training such as robotic system set-up and programming, robot safety and standards, as well as localisation and navigation technologies of mobile robots. The participants will be guided through the process of developing and executing real-world projects for acquiring the competencies of adopting robotics systems. Why This Course • Highly practical course content delivered in an intensive and interactive manner • Introduction of the latest industrial technology and robotic system set-up tools • Case studies highlighting industrial applications in laboratory environments • Real-world projects will be discussed to enhance participants’ skills in planning & managing for robotic systems Who Should Attend This course targets at engineers, factory supervisors, managers, researchers and technical staff who are interested to gain or enhance their competencies and skills in automation and industrial robotics. Upon Completion of this Course Electronic certificates (e-Certs) are issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to participants who have attended and attained competency in the Singapore Skills Framework training modules. When & Where Please visit our website at KTO.SIMTech.a-star.edu.sg for the course schedule. Training Venue: Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology 2 Fusionopolis Way, Innovis, Level 8, Singapore 138634

What You Will Learn The course covers the following performance statements: • Fundamental knowledge of robotics • Selection of sensors and process tools for automation • Practical robotic programming and advanced robotic teaching methods • Understand the application of robotics standards • Mobile robots localisation and navigation methods About the Course Leaders Dr Quek Zhan Fan received his engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009 and Master and PhD degree from Stanford University in 2012 and 2015. He joined SIMTech in 2015 as a research scientist, and has since been working in the design of robot manipulators and mobile robots. Dr Sun Yeow Cheng is a researcher with the Mechatronics Group at SIMTech. He has been a technical and project leader for various mechanised/robotised finishing projects with local SMEs, MNCs, R&D institutes and technology centres since 2008. He served as a subject matter expert in the areas of mechanised finishing processes and technology development during his secondment with Rolls-Royce Singapore in 2014 & 2015. His areas of research interest include industrial robotics and mechatronics systems. Mr Lim Tao Ming is a research engineer with the Mechantronics group at SIMTech. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a master degree in Mechanical and Production Enginnering. He has led several research and industrial projects ranging from high precision structured applications like semiconductor-related works to high dexterity manufacturing and repair applications involving industrial robots. He is also actively involved in projects on software architecture design and implementation at SIMTech.
