• Introduction :You are going to learn The passive voice We use the passive voice 1- When an action is more important than who does it. 2- When we are not interested in who does the action. 3- When we don’t want to mention the author of the action.To form the passive voice we use these forms of“be”: is/ are/ was / were + past participleTo obtain the past participle we add “ed” to regularverbs.For the irregular verbs ,a list is given to be learnt byheart .
• The text: Part one How olive oil is produced. In September, olives come to maturity. So, from September to the beginning of November, olive gathering starts. First, trees are shaken. Then, olives are sorted out. Then, the ones for making oil are picked and they are brought to the oil-mill. There, they are poured into round baskets which are pilled up into the oil-press.
After that, the oil-press is sealed and a lever isinserted in its hole.Next, the oil press is round by hand. Finally, the oil is collected .It is stored in jars in houses or it is bottled to besold. The waste is used for heating or for cooking.Unfamiliar words:to insert = to place inside something.the waste = the excess. What is leftto seal = to close tightly.to sort out = to class in groups (to choose).
