UNITED? YEAH THATS THE WORD!UN(OlN PAXMAN liNCOlN PAXMAN And that word was on many lips. From the f1rst minute to the last min- ute of the 83-84 school year. a UNITED student body crowded the halls, classes, and stadiums. We were u111ted as friends, as classes, and as teams. But mainly we were united as a school. How were we united though? After all united IS just a word 1sn't it? Not at Jordan it isn't. JHS has another word for united and that's PRIDE. and with pride come tradition. We weren't unit- ed by nuts and bolts, nor by band a1ds and rubber bands. We were united by PRIDE. 70 years in fact. That 's a lot of tradition. Every day of every week for four quarters that pride was m every face and at every game and in everythmg that was or would ever be Jordan. Stu- dents crowded both home and away stadiums and courts, hurling forth their pride as opponent after opponent fell. Freshman and senior alike compet- ed at Get Acquainted or painted sidewalks or yelled their guts out for their school. There never was or never would be any way to cover up the pnde and unity of 1984. For every beet that was chopped on the first day of school. for every bite of pie eaten at Get Acquainted, for every yard gained and pomt scored, a cheer went out.
