Welcome to the 61stAssociated Gospel Assemblies (AGA) Annual Convention (Virtual) Dr. the Rev. Carlton Dennis I want to welcome you to our 61st annual convention in the hundred and first year of the existence of our denomination. Our theme, “100 years and still shining,” brought forward from last year, adequately testifies to our continued existence as a denomination and gives credence to the declaration of Charles Westley Long, our founder, that “a light has been lit that will never go out.” Thus, we praise God for His faithfulness. Yet, two questions are before us today: How bright is our light? and How can we trim it to make it brighter? If, we are able to adequately address these questions, submitting to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we will remain bright until Christ returns. Welcome to this history making convention, as we meet for the very first time in this format. I pray God’s signature will be upon every single minute of this convention. 2

President’s Message On behalf of the Executive Board let me extend to all members of the Associated Gospel Assemblies (AGA) a warm welcome to our 61st Annual Convention . As you are all aware, during 2020 we celebrated our 100th Anniversary (i.e. 1920 – 2020) as an Association. However, due to the worldwide pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus we were not able to fulfill all our celebratory activities as planned and for those that we accomplished they were done in a manner we never foresaw - that being virtual. Undoubtedly, what has certainly been a tumultuous time for all, the Lord has enabled us to derive some good. This good being we are all now knowledgeable about the virtual space and how it can be used for ministry endeavors. Based on discussions with the Executive Board, we have come to the conclusion that our 100th Anniversary celebrations will continue during the 2021 calendar year, with the culmination being our anniversary banquet, scheduled for October 2021. It is our desire and hope that by then the Covid-19 pandemic would be abated so that we can enjoy the presence of each other, directly and not virtually. Also, the theme “100 Years…And Still Shining” will remain in light of our continued Anniversary celebrations. As we participate in this year’s Convention over four days, I pray that we will have a rich time of worship and praise and that the messages from our speakers will challenge our hearts towards greater service for his glory. Anthony White (Rev’d) President, Associated Gospel Assemblies 4

National Call to Prayer 2020 - 2021 The Executive Board, led by President Rev. Anthony White designated the month of December 2019 as a month of Prayer and Fasting towards the “AGA’s Centennial Celebrations in 2020”. This was under the theme “100 Years ….. and Still Shining” The second prayer effort was during the month of March when each church was asked to commit the year’s activities to God during their time of Corporate prayer and weekly prayer meetings. Members of all churches in the AGA were asked to spend time praying for the Centennial Celebration at 10 AM and 10 PM each day from March 1st to March 7th. Some prayer items: • Success of planned activities for the year • Thank God for the many achievements of the AGA • Thank God for our founding fathers, past and present leaders of the Association • Spiritual revival and growth of the Association • Members of Executive Board • Leaders on local assemblies • Youth leaders and our young people • Ministries of the Association • Use of Social Media – Launched January • News Paper Supplement – September • Home Coming Weekend (October 16-18) 5

During the months of May and June, the Centennial Celebration Committee promoted a 100 hour chain prayer, over four (4) weekends. The 100 hours was broken into 4x25 hour weekends (Friday/Saturday) as follows: 1. Friday. May 22, 2020 @. 6 pm - Saturday, May 23, 2020 @ 7 pm. 2. Friday, May 29, 2020 @ 6 pm - Saturday, May 30, 2020 @ 7 pm 3. Friday, June 5, 2020 @ 6 pm - Saturday, June 6, 2020 @ 7 pm 4. Friday, June 12, 2020 @ 6 pm - Saturday, June 13, 2020 @ 7 pm The Association’s leaders including our Pastors, Elders, and Board Chairmen were called to prayer during the month of June, based on the feedback it was a rich time of sharing and worship, as our leaders sought the heart of God in leading the Association forward. As the year was drawing to a close, the association’s members were called to an All Night prayer meeting from Friday, November 6th at 9:00 pm—Saturday, November 7th at 6:00 am. The virtual all-night prayer meeting which was the first of its kind, was divided into three phases as follows (i) 9:00 pm—12 midnight (ii) 12:01 pm- 3:00 pm and (iii) 3:01 am—6:00 am. 2021 The Executive Board under the leadership of President Anthony White, has extended the National Call to prayer for the year 2021. We give thanks for God’s leading and direction. The week of March 22nd—March 26th has been designated as a week of prayer. Friday, March 26th will be designated as all night prayer meeting. More information will follow. I encourage all members of the Associated Gospel Assemblies to heed the instructions from 1st Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” Every blessing. 6

Message from Chairman, Jamaica Umbrella Groups of Churches Dr. the Rev. Peter G. Garth, CD, JP I am extremely proud to be a member of the Associated Gospel Assembles (AGA), and I would like to congratulate this august denomination for being recognized as one of the outstanding denominations in Jamaica. Last year was an extremely busy year for me as I was appointed in June, 2020 as the new Chairman of the Jamaica Umbrella Groups of Churches (JUGC). This is an awesome responsibility as the JUGC covers ninety seven (97%) of all the churches in Jamaica. However, I must report that the Lord has been faithful as well as the many praying saints. The JEA is a member of the JUGC and the Associated Gospel Assemblies is a member of the JEA. This means that AGA is automatically connected with the JUGC. We have sought to address many of the pressing issues confronting the church as a result of the Pandemic and had numerous meetings with the Prime Minister, Minister of Health, and the Health Authorities, to work out how to deal with the church and the COVID-19 challenges. I must say that I am proud of the AGA for all the accomplishments during 2020 and especially for the Love in Action Project that brought relief to so many persons. The JUGC and the JEA would like at this time to congratulate the AGA as you celebrate 100 years of sterling performance in Jamaica and for your example of tremendous leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. May God continue to bless and guide the AGA as you continue to accomplish great things for the Lord. 7

Editorial Elder David Hall Public Relations Director Looking back at the year 2020, we experience mixed emotions, both on an individual and on a congregational basis. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact at all levels of our society and the church has not been excluded. I believe it is apt for us as a National Christian body, The Associated Gospel Assemblies (AGA) to embrace the words of the song, “Great is thy Faithfulness”. We started the year, under the theme, a“100 years……..And still shining”, acknowledging the significant milestone of 100 years of existence as an association, from 1920—2020. Significant plans were put in place by the 100th anniversary committee comprising 15 members from across the AGA. The objective of the board approved activities was to celebrate this significant milestone with activities spanning the twelve months, January 2020 to December 2020. We pre- launched the 2020 activities with a month of prayer in December 2019, , followed by a logo competition which produced the excellent logo that we have been proudly displaying throughout the year. The Calendar of events documents the activities which were completed in 2020. This year, 2021, the Executive Board has decided to continue with the theme “100 Years ……. And Still Shining” as we celebrate a number of events to commemorate this significant, 100 year milestone. The main activity which was not held last year, due to the pandemic, was our “Home coming weekend” which was scheduled for October 2020. We have re-scheduled a number of activities and approved some new ones for 2021. • A second webinar series • Identifying 100 men and women who were instrumental in the conception and growth of the AGA • Sales of branded shirts and jerseys • Production of a 100 year souvenir magazine 12

• A national call to prayer • Home Coming weekend—(i) Guest lecture (ii) Banquet and a National Church series • Documentation of a Strategic Plan for the AGA • An end of year worship and praise event • The continuation of a care program for the most vulnerable members of our local churches. This year our convention will be conducted virtually for the first time on the Youtube and Facebook platforms. We look forward to hosting our members over three nights, February 14th—16th and on Ash Wednesday, on February 17tth. This year our convention will be conducted virutally for the first time on the Youtube, Zoom and Facebook platforms. Plans for 2021 Please pray for us as we seek to again engage in impacting out members through our Love in Action Project and also addressing the needs of our wider community. 13

Love in Action I & II The original plan of the 100th Anniversary committee was to support one church in each of the six (6) regions to host a labour day project on May 23, 2020. Due to the impact of the pandemic on some of our members, the committee recommended to the AGA Executive Board that we redirect our efforts to a project which would directly impact our members called, “Love in Action”.  The recommendation was accepted and approved.  The objective of the project was to provide care packages to the church members and community members of our churches which were adversely impacted by the pandemic. Brethren we are thankful that our God came through for us in a big way, discounted/ special prices, all items pre-packaged, complimentary gift packages, complimentary bags, goodies for the kids and free delivery right to our doorstep. WOW!!! Thanks to Deacon Bender, Deacon Damian Scarlett and the team of young men from Lyndhurst Gospel Assembly who turned up to assist Elders Hall & Hibbert to do the manual work on Friday night. Thanks to Sis. Hall who provided inspiration when the going got tough. Thanks to Sis. Phiona and Sis. Robinson who coordinated the distribution effort from the AGA Head office. Contributions were received from: • AGA churches • Individual contributions from AGA members • Individual contributions from non AGA members • AGA Central Fund Total contributions                          $2,000,000 813 care packages were distributed to the members in 13 churches along with their pastors . 14

The 13 Churches which benefited from the initiative are listed below: Pastor/Oversight Pastor/Leader Rev. Earl Wright Rev. Earl Wright Sis. Julie Allie Rev. Courtney Lyn Sis. Lorraine McKenzie Rev. Leslie Asante Rev. Leslie Asante Rev. Tombari Tee Elder John Campbell Deacon Gaynor Elder David Hall Rev. Nigel Lewis Rev. Danielle White Feedback from some of our Pastors on behalf of their congregations: -  This was a great initiative and really appreciated - The packages were heavy and well packed (smile)  -  The packages came in at the right time -  Our members were very appreciative - Thank God for the support from our AGA family -  This initiative is a very good one from our leaders - This initiative is certainly a display of “Love in action” the Lord bless all who contributed -  We were able to assist some members of our community and they were very appreciative -  This is an initiative we could try twice per year Luke 10:27 - And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself” John 15:17 - This I command you, that you love one another 15

President’s Report The word of the Lord declares that [God] will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on [Him], because he trusts in You” (Isa. 26:3 NKJ). 2020 was a year in which, Christians and non-Christians alike, were compelled to keep their minds on our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ so that the tumultuous period would not overtake us emotionally. The fateful day of March 15, 2020 saw the devastating effect of the Novel Coronavirus, Covid-19, bringing our island and the rest of the world, both the secular and the religious, to an almost grinding halt. As a result of this, the lives of our fellow Jamaicans, like those of the rest of world, were never the same again. Despite this unprecedented challenge, the Executive Board was able to immediately conduct meetings with church leaders and respond with the appropriate measures and compassion to effectively assure all of our Assemblies that we can still find peace amidst the storms of life. Based on the above, I would like to extend a special thank you to the members of the Executive Board for their commitment and diligence in ensuring that the Association was able to meet this unprecedented challenge of the Coronavirus and still remain vibrant in our ministerial endeavours. To God be the glory, great things he has done. Overseas Churches - USA The following objectives were to be undertaken (for Olivet Gospel Church, Faith Gospel Church, Glory Gospel Church and South Florida Gospel Church) and their updates are as follows…. 20

The worldwide pandemic and severe spread of the Coronavirus in the USA severely impacted the above matters as all churches had other urgent matters to attend. Other AGA Executive matters that were conducted during the year were: - 1. Olivet Gospel Church – On Thursday, December 3, 2020 one of the founding fathers of Olivet, Elder Lennox B Mangaroo Senior passed. Upon notification, I called Rev. Russell McLeod to extend condolences on behalf of the Association to Mangaroo’s family and to the fellowship at Olivet. May his soul rest in peace as he now meets his Saviour face to face. 2. Faith Gospel Church – On Sunday, November 15, 2020 I was the guest speaker for their 41st Anniversary Service via Zoom. I spoke from Habakkuk chapter 3:17-19 and my topic was “Faith To Rejoice After 41 Years”. It was indeed a very rich time of fellowship and thanking the Lord. 3. Grace Christian Fellowship – On Thursday, December 10, 2020 Chairman of the fellowship Errol Hibbert was involved in a motor vehicle accident. One week later he experienced a mild stroke and was hospitalized a second time. Since then he has had some improvements. However, he is not completely healed. As such, please remember him and his wife Valerie during your times of prayer. Overseas Churches - UK On Sunday, October 11, 2020 I was notified by Rev. Steve Palmer of Roundwood Gospel Assembly, that retired pastor Warren Reid has removed Dr. Carlton Dennis, Jamaican Trustee, and Elder Derek Williams, UK Trustee of Gospel Tabernacle Assembly, from the Charity Commission of the AGA-UK. By this action, Rev. Reid appointed himself as chair of the Trustee. This was done because he continues to share the view that Jamaica has no jurisdiction over the UK churches. From the date of notification to Saturday, December 19, 2020 several meetings were conducted with Rev. Steve Palmer and all the leaders of both Assemblies to clarify the Jamaica and AGA-UK relationship. Today, we are pleased to report that under Rev. Steve Palmer’s diligence Dr. Carlton and Elder Derek Williams are now reinstated as trustees for the AGA-UK Charity Commission and Rev. Warren Reid removed. However, it is to be noted that Rev. Warren Reid has threatened legal action. On Tuesday, December 29, 2020 a special meeting was convened with Rev. Steve Palmer, Elder Derek Williams and myself to discuss the happenings at Gospel Tabernacle Assembly. From this meeting the following were concluded… 21

a) Starting February 2020 I will be conducting bible study and leadership sessions with both Assemblies. Afterwards, Dr. Carlton Dennis and other AGA Jamaican leaders will share with the AGA-UK brethren. b) I will be participating in both Assemblies board meetings, when required via Zoom, to help in the governance and guidance of the Board members and the fellowship. Local AGA Churches a) Olivet Gospel Assembly (Rock) – On June 11, 2020 Missionary Lorraine McKenzie migrated to the USA. Thankfully, Sis McKenzie had started her notification to the Executive Board from 2019 and as such made plans in preparation for her departure. As such, we are pleased to advise that Rev. Leslie Nembhard is now the Oversight Pastor of the fellowship. We wish for our Sis McKenzie God’s richest blessings in her future endeavours. b) Lillyfield Gospel Assembly – Dr. the Rev. Owen Desgouttes is providing support to the fellowship. c) Messiah Gospel Assembly – The Executive Board will be visiting the Assembly to officially introduce Rev. Ransford Smikle as Oversight Pastor to the fellowship on Sunday, January 31, 2021. As we faced the unprecedented pandemic of the Coronavirus, I am thankful for the kind of kindred spirit that was shown to the AGA’s “Love in Action” initiative to meet the challenges of the churches in dire need. Based on the success of “Love in Action” part one, there was an overwhelming call for “Love In Action” part 2. Same was done during the yuletide season of December. As such, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Elder David Hall and his team in spearheading this initiative and to say also a special thank you to the churches that gave to this initiative. It is to be noted that this venture was not extended beyond the AGA doors. Therefore, this is a testament that we are indeed stronger when we band together as an Association. Despite the pandemic and it challenges presented, we are still as an Executive Board dealing with the contentious and estranged relationships between pastors and elders. As I have stated last year, it is unacceptable and totally sinful that there should be infightings amongst the leaders of any local church. As leaders, we are the ones who are called to set the examples to the believers and if we are unable to do so, then what do we expect from those who are under our care? 22

There were some initiatives that were scheduled to look at during 2020 and their updates are as follows… ACTIVITIES UPDATES Resumption of the ETA classes Discussion is in progress and we hope that same Resumption of Eldership classes will come on stream this year. Helping to drive this initiative is Rev. Leslie Asante. Research paper on Elders I It was agreed and decided that classes will begin as s oon a s possible. Helping to d rive t his initiative is Dr. Carlton Dennis. ncomplete. It is desired that the first draft will be available by the next pastor’s seminar/share 100th Anniversary Though there was a worldwide pandemic nevertheless we were not daunted in our celebrations of 100th Anniversary. Special thanks to the Director of Public Relations, Elder David Hall and his team for being creative in keeping the celebrations alive. It is to be noted that the theme: 100 Years …and Still Shining will be for 2021 as we seek to continue with our celebratory activities, especially for those we were not able to accomplish due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As such, we look forward to the Public Relations team in providing updates for 2021 activities. Conclusion It is with regret that I advise that Rev. Shane O’Connor has resigned from the Associated Gospel Assemblies. Despite my meeting with him personally on the matter and subsequent telephone calling about same he reiterated that his position remains the same. As such, I wish him all the best in his future endeavours. Finally, I would like to extend congratulations to Bro Damian Scarlett who has completed his studies at the Jamaica Theological Seminary and has expressed his desire in being a pastor within the Association. For 2021, we look forward to assist him in developing his pastoral skills. Special thanks to the Board of Bethel Gospel Assembly and Dr. Carlton Dennis for their initially assisting in this regard during 2020. 23

Summarized History of the AGA The Associated Gospel Assemblies (AGA) is an indigenous Jamaican church denomination of thirty-five fellowships: twenty-nine in Jamaica, four in the United States, and two in the United Kingdom.   The movement was formerly known as the Rehoboth Mission before being registered in 1959 by “HENRY ALEXANDER WHITE, Overseer of the Church, ALBERT TEMEIR KARRAM, Treasurer of the Church, and STANLEY GEORGE KARRAM, Secretary of the Church” (Jamaica, Parliament 1959, p.1).   The Karram brothers and White along with others had operated as a religious body and possessed several properties by a limited company known as Church Property (Undenominational) Limited.  Formal vesting opened the way for the group of then fourteen churches to operate Merl Grove High School as a government grant-aided institution—the flagship for what became some twenty public and private schools under the management and ministry of the denomination. Four fairly distinct periods can be identified in the 100 year history of the AGA: the FORMATION PERIOD (1920 - 1946) which includes the LONG START (1920 - 1925) and the HARRIS ERA (1925 -1946)—the years which Stanley Harris carried pastoral responsibility; the EXPANSION PERIOD (1946 - 1980) which was marked by unparalleled evangelistic, church-planting, and missionary endeavours sustained at a remarkable level; the TRANSITION PERIOD (1973 - 1993)— in which calls for change and renewal were frequent, given that there was dramatic slowdown in church planting and growth. This third period overlaps the end of the second and takes us to the TRANSFORMATION PERIOD (1994 - 2020), the recent and current block of time known for highest resources, expectation and hope for renewal. The earliest years of the formation period were marked by uncertainty as the group had no abiding home, and relocated several times over a short period.  It survived by fervent and faithful trust in God, while holding on to the words of one of the fathers of this emerging house of faith, 27

The trumpet call obey; Forth to the mighty conflict In this His glorious day. Ye that are men, now serve Him Against unnumbered foes; Let courage rise with danger. And strength to strength oppose. 3 Stand up! stand up for Jesus! Stand in His strength alone; The arm of flesh will fail you; Ye dare not trust your own. Put on the Gospel armor, And, watching unto prayer, Where duty calls, or danger, Be never wanting there. 4 Stand up! stand up for Jesus! The strife will not be long: This day the noise of battle, The next the victor’s song; To him that overcometh A crown of life shall be; He, with the King of glory, Shall reign eternally. 32

Sound the Battle Cry 1 1 Sound the battle cry! See, the foe is nigh, Raise the Standard high For the Lord. Gird your armour on; Stand firm every one; Rest your cause upon His holy word. Refrain: Rouse, then, soldiers, rally round the banner! Ready, steady, pass the word along; Onward, forward, shout aloud hosanna! Christ is captain of the mighty throng. 2. Strong to meet the foe, Marching on we go, While our cause we know Must prevail. Shield and banner bright, Gleaming in the light, Battling for the right, We ne’er can fail. 3. O thou God of all, Hear us when we call, Help us one and all By thy grace! When the battle’s done, And the victory won, May we wear the crown Before thy face. 33

I Never will cease to praise him For all the Lord has done for me,  I never will cease to praise Him;  and for His grace so rich and free,  I never will cease to praise Him.  I never will cease to praise Him,  my Saviour, my Saviour!  I never will cease to praise Him,  He‟s done so much for me.  He gives me strength for every day;  I never will cease to praise Him;  He leads and guides me all the way.  I never will cease to praise Him;  Although the world His love neglect,  I never will cease to praise Him;  I could not such a friend reject.  I never will cease to praise Him;  He saves me every day and hour;  I never will cease to praise Him;  just now I feel His cleansing power.  I never will cease to praise Him;  While on my journey here below,  I never will cease to praise Him.  And when to that bright world I go,  I never will cease to praise Him 34

Count Your Blessings When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.  Refrain: Count your blessings, name them one by one; Count your blessings, see what God hath done; Count your blessings, name them one by one; Count your many blessings, see what God hath done. 2 Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings, ev’ry doubt will fly, And you will be singing as the days go by. [Refrain] 3 When you look at others with their lands and gold, Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold; Count your many blessings, money cannot buy Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high. [Refrain] 4 So, amid the conflict, whether great or small, Do not be discouraged, God is over all; Count your many blessings, angels will attend, Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end. [Refrain] 37

I Must Have The Saviour With Me I must have the Saviour with me, For I dare not walk alone; I must feel his presence near me, And his arm around me thrown. Refrain: Then my soul shall fear no ill; Let him lead me where he will, I will go without a murmur, And his footsteps follow still. 2 I must have the Saviour with me, For my faith at best is weak; He can whisper words of comfort That no other voice can speak. 3 I must have the Saviour with me In the onward march of life; Through the tempest and the sunshine, Through the battle and the strife. 38

100 Years.... And Still Giving Praise Sunday, December 20, 2020 will go down as an event to be remembered in the archives of the Associated Gospel Assemblies. Not only because it happened during a pandemic, but it will be remembered as a night when the association used the talents and giftings of our singers, musicians, sound technicians and volunteers to lift up the name of Jesus. Under the theme, “100 Years ............ and Still Giving Praise”, for two hours and fifteen minutes, over 1,000 persons logged on to our Facebook, Instagram and Youtube platforms to share in an old time, hand clapping, foot stomping, hand waving “Singspiration” service.  We were treated to the melodious voices of some of the best musical talent across the AGA: - Oneil Godfrey        - Portmore Gospel Assembly - Stacey Foreshaw    - Calvary Gospel Assembly - Jhammilla Ayres      - Elim Gospel Assembly - Antoinette Clark      - Bethel Gospel Assembly - Renee Davis       - Duhaney Park Gospel Assembly - Sherika Elliott       - Duhaney Park Assembly - De-Andrea Whiteley - Duhaney Park Assembly - Karen Dilworth      - Calvary Gospel Assembly - Stephen Francis     - Rehoboth Gospel Assembly - Wilverglen Lamey    - Emmanuel Gospel Assembly - Kemar Eccleston    - Duhaney Park Gospel Assembly - Denton Fraser      - Duhaney Park Gospel Assembly 47

We praise God for the Anointed word from Pastor Leslie Asante, Pastor of Grace & Marlborough Gospel Assemblies. He encouraged us to take the baton and run our leg of the relay, we were also encouraged to make ourselves available to be used by God. His delivery was powerful and inspiring. LAUD Dance group ministered an energetic item, which got many persons at home sending very positive responses in the chat room. The purpose of the event was to take time out to worship God and give him thanks for taking us through the year 2020. Our President, Rev. Anthony White, brought the time of worship to a close in prayer. 48
