The 1990’S In the fall of 1989, the first Amstar DMC office opened in Cancun. Today, Amstar is the largest destination management company (DMC) in Mexico and Dominican Republic with offices in five countries and 28 vacation destinations. Amstar Representatives meet vacationers at the airport, guide them to their transfers, hold welcome briefings and provide customer service in resort. In 1993, Apple Vacations became the first vacation company to welcome its millionth passenger to Cancun, and in 1996, the first and only to offer non-stop charter service to Punta Cana from the U.S.6

The 2000’S In 2001, the first AMResort opened in Punta Cana. That same year, John J.
