HOW TO LAY “JAPANESE STEPPING STONES”To create a path pattern arranging the slabs in the “Japanese stepping stone” style,you need to calculate the number of steps needed to complete the path, then space theslabs at an equal distance along the route. To ensure perfect stability, dig down 5-8 cm(2”-3”), add fine gravel - size 3 to 6 mm (1/8” to 1/4”), and compact down before layingthe slab. The slabs must not protrude above the lawn level, in order not to damage thelawnmower when cutting the grass. INSTALLATIONON GRAVELOR SANDLaying on gravel ensures correct soil drainage, through the gaps between the slabs,allowing the water to drain off into the ground. This laying solution is ideal for projectswhere permanent floor laying is not possible. For installation onto gravel (1/8 - 1/4) we recommend the use of Mirage spacers as they provide the slabs with support and allow for planar surfaces. The transparency of the material makes them scarcely visible and they can be cut in order to create T-shaped spacers for straightforward installation patterns. 30

With this laying system, all the pipes and wiring systemslaid beneath the tiled surface can be inspected at any time. It offers instantaccessibility, simply by lifting and removing the slabs. 38

Installation on raised pedestal system is used mainly on large, regular surfaces, orabove previous floors, provided these show no signs of infiltration. The open gapsbetween the slabs allow the rain water to drain off into the cavity created under thepanels. Thus a flat, even floor is obtained, while the underlying waterproof layer willhave the gradient required to drain off the rain water.The load-bearing structure is made of polypropylene feet with a large base and roundededges, to prevent damage to the insulating layer. This solution allows for any underlyingelements to be inspected and offers a practical passage for pipes and wiring.
