5 CONSTRUCTION PHASES AND ACTIVITIES The fundamental objective of this section is to discuss the main activities and construction phases to successfully deliver the project to the client. This project will commence its construction in June 2022. Activities are to be divided into 5 phases. All throughout the activities and phases, it is noted that health and safety protocols as well as the supervisions are to be applied to ensure that all the workers will work in a safe environment; which improves overall efficiency and quality of work of all the parties involved. The following phases will be discussed along with the main activities involved. PHASE 1: CONCEPT & INITIATION PHASE The foremost phase in any construction activities always starts at drafting concepts and plans. Wherein discussion of project’s details was served to various stakeholders to determine whether feasible or unobtainable. Moreover, the client’s needs were highly emphasized for the team to identify the necessary features and designs for the project. List of Activities: ▪ Create a feasibility study ▪ Identify what project do the client needs ▪ Create project charter which state how the project be structured or executed ▪ Find the right set of people with expertise and skills to execute the project ▪ Identify the location of the project office in the site ▪ Reviewing of initiation phase ▪ Define goal and objectives of the project wherein it should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time- related.

PHASE 2: PLANNING PHASE In this phase, all plans including technical, financial, along with the plans regarding safety and coordination were to be accomplished. This where the planning phase plays a significant role in the project since the durability of the structure depends on the technicality of the design. List of Activities: ▪ Project Manager creates project schedule ▪ Create plans for budget allocation ▪ Creates a detailed scope definition ▪ Creates checklist for project deliverables ▪ Creates Technical design ▪ Creates Communication plan ▪ Identify and create the roles and responsibilities of the project teams PHASE 3: EXECUTION PHASE Actual execution of the construction plans is the main focus on this phase. The project execution consists of 5 sub-phases which includes earthworks, foundation works, structural works, and the finishing works for both first and second floor. Other than the activities from each phase, it is also important to conduct quality checking, regular site visit, status review meetings, systematic project schedule updates, and safety monitoring.

PHASE 3.1: Earthworks Earthworks construction involves excavation of column and wall footing, together with the finishing of the disposal and gravel bedding in the project. Site management will be greatly imposed in this phase since the location of the excavation for footings will be a huge factor for the stability of the structure and safety of the occupants. List of Activities: ▪ Excavation ▪ Disposal ▪ Gravel Bedding PHASE 3. 2: Foundation Works The actual construction of the proposed building begins in this phase. For the preparation of columns and footings, the rebar will be placed on the excavation site, and this will be an indication that these foundations are below ground level. The procedure for tie beam construction is also the same for footing. Furthermore, other activities such as installation of formworks, concrete pouring, curing of concrete, installation of septic tanks, manholes, and drainage will be executed in this phase. Backfilling will be the final procedure for this phase after all the work beneath the ground has been done. List of Activities: ▪ Rebar fabrication and installation up to ground level ▪ Construction of footings and foundation up to the ground level (includes: fabrication and installation of footing formworks, concrete pouring, concrete curing and lastly removal of formworks)

▪ Construction of column up to ground level (includes: fabrication and installation of column formworks, concrete pouring, concrete curing and lastly removal of column formworks) ▪ Construction of tie-beam (includes: rebar fabrication and installation, fabrication and installation of Tie beam formworks, concrete pouring, concrete curing and lastly removal of formworks) ▪ Back filling and compaction ▪ Septic Tank, manhole and drainage installation PHASE 3.3: Structural Works of the 1st Floor On the given phase, structure of first floor is the focal point of the construction. Whereas column works were accomplished by installing formworks and rebars, followed by concrete pouring and curing. At the same time, concrete slab and walls were accomplished hand-in-hand. Considering the building type as 2-storey structure, construction of staircase was also included which corresponds to similar processes of previous construction works. Right after this phase, workforce was anticipated to move forward on succeeding phases. List of Activities: ▪ Construction of Columns for the first floor (includes: formwork and rebar fabrication installation, concrete pouring, curing, and lastly removal of column formworks) ▪ Wall construction for the first floor (includes: reinforcing steel bar to support CHB, stacking of CHB and Lintel installation) ▪ Construction of beams and slabs for the first floor (includes: formwork and rebar fabrication installation, concrete pouring, curing, and lastly removal of formworks) ▪ Construction of Stairs from first floor going to the second floor (includes: formwork and rebar fabrication installation, concrete pouring, curing, and lastly removal of formworks)

PHASE 3. 4: Structural Works of the 2nd Floor Continuation of the activities done in the first floor will be the general role of this phase. Similarly, the activities from the first floor will also be executed in the second floor. This consists of the construction of columns, walls, beams, and slabs for the structural system to be fulfilled. Subsequently, the last execution phase of the project will push through. List of Activities: ▪ Construction of Columns for the second floor (includes: formwork and rebar fabrication installation, concrete pouring, curing, and lastly removal of column formworks) ▪ Wall construction for the second floor (includes: reinforcing steel bar to support CHB, stacking of CHB and Lintel installation) ▪ Construction of beams and slabs for the second floor (includes: formwork and rebar fabrication installation, concrete pouring, curing, and lastly removal of formworks) PHASE 3.5: Finishing Works As final part of execution phase, infrastructure’s components was projected to be already installed. This includes the doors, ceiling, plumbing, electrical, plastering, tiles, painting, architectural works, as well as the slab works. List of Activities: ▪ Roof Installation (includes: installation of roof trusses, installation of roof sheets and ridge roll, and installation of gutter and flashing) ▪ Construction of slab in the ground floor (includes: rebar fabrication and installation, concrete pouring and concrete curing)

▪ Construction of Ceiling (includes: building of ceiling joist, installing plywood as ceiling cover and adding of cornices) ▪ Architectural Works (includes: installation of doors, installation of windows and installation of balcony railings) ▪ Plumbing Works (includes: septic tank installation, catch basin installation, waterline installation, sanitary line installation and storm drainage line installation) ▪ Electrical Works (includes: electrical fixture installation, light fixture installation and panel board installation) ▪ Tile Works ▪ Painting Works (includes: applying primer and final paint coating) PHASE 4: PERFORMANCE & CONTROL PHASE The project's performance and control phase is responsible for monitoring all aspects of project delivery to ensure the project's success. The Project Plan has been approved, and working deliverables for project management have been defined. The project's performance is controlled and its progress is tracked against the plan created during project planning throughout this phase. Performance is measured against the project plan, and modifications are made as needed to keep the project on track and within scope and budget. List of Activities: ▪ Work outcomes such as deliverables are produced. ▪ Organize meetings and provide progress reports. ▪ Performed project’s change control (includes scope change, cost change, schedule change, resource and technical change) ▪ Direct and lead the project team ▪ Ensure that the project meets the schedule. ▪ Prepare any project challenges or hazards. ▪ Obtain or secure any necessary resources.

PHASE 5: PROJECT CLOSE OUT The last phase of this project is known as the project closure. This is when the project manager confirms that the project deliverables have been accepted by the client, stakeholder, or customer. Maintenance must be set up if the project or product will continue after the project is over. Before closing the project, the project manager will assess the whole project, grading performance, and comparison of this to the baseline. The project team will participate in this process by providing observations and feedback, which gives direction for future developments. List of Activities: ▪ Begin with the project scope document that is generated and double-check if you satisfied all of the requirements specified. ▪ Confirm that all deliverables have been handed off and signed by all stakeholders, indicating their consent and satisfaction. ▪ After all documents have been signed, process them, pay any invoices, and end any project-related contracts. ▪ Combine all documents, including all project reports that have been finalized, and then categorize. ▪ Conduct studies about the project’ lesson learned

6 PROJECT SCHEDULE A project schedule is a timetable that shows the start and end date of all project tasks, how the tasks relate to each other and usually which team members or other resources are responsible for delivery.
