In a program the statements are generally executed in a sequential manner, however there are various control statements in QBasic, like GOTO, IF THEN, IF THEN ELSE, etc., to perform conditional checks and repetitive actions. To make students understand how the discount calculation works on the basis of Bill Amount using QBasic programming. ACTIVITY: The students were asked to write a program to calculate discount on the basis of Bill Amount; to use the „IF THEN…ELSEIF with ENDIF‟ statement to execute the program which allows the student to perform a secondary action if the first expression is false. Coding is written by the students in such a way that the percentage of discount varies with the change in the given amount. LEARNING The students learn the ways to build the program with logic. OUTCOME: When a volume discount is offered, the customers end up paying less per item, as long as they buy a larger amount of that item.

It provides a variety of tools to create user-friendly applications with Graphical User Interface(GUI). Visual Basic encourages higher student interaction through icons, menus, pointers, buttons, dialog boxes etc. ACTIVITY: To make students to modify code by simply dragging and dropping objects and defining their behavior and appearance. The students were asked to write a program to demonstrate Traffic Lights Pattern by changing the shape, colours and displaying messages accordingly. Using various controls from toolbox like Ovalshape, command buttons, Label and Textbox, the students developed the application, using VB with the given steps:  Create a form and add control to it.  Set properties of the controls.  Write codes for various events of added controls and run the application. By setting properties window, students wrote the code in code window to display the traffic lights patterns like Red, Yellow & Green. The students executed the program by clicking on Red, Yellow and Green buttons one by one to notice the effect. LEARNING The students learnt that Traffic lights (or traffic signals) are lights OUTCOME: (Red, Yellow & Green) used to control the movement of traffic. Valedictory paved way for motivating the students to develop their talents and improve it. Co-curricular Activity plays a vital role in shaping the life of a person, especially the students. Co-curricular activities help in the development of the mind and personality. For the all-round development of the personality, intellectual, emotional, social, moral and aesthetic growth is of utmost importance. ACTIVITY: The meaning of co-curricular activities revolves around its different feature and characteristics. For the overall development of the child, curriculum is not the only factor. These class activities affect all domains of life such as cognitive, emotional, social, moral, cultural and aesthetic. Co- curricular activities not only make them active and energetic but also enable to harness the in-depth potential of students. The students of class IV were taken for afield trip to the “BIRLA PLANETARIUM” - the largest planetarium in Chennai. It is located at Kotturpuram in the Periyar Science and Technology Centre campus. The students watched the 3D show, during the show they imagined that they were in the vast space in the universe. Then they were taken to few other exhibits at the planetarium which enlightened the learners. At the planetarium, the resource person informed the children of the latest developments in the field of astrophysics and India‟s contribution to the same. The students were also shown the movie “Our Universe” which showcased the arrangement of planets, position of stars and other interesting facts about the galaxy. As the lights dimmed and the movie started, the excitement among the students was overwhelming. Every year, 22nd of December anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, which is celebrated as National Mathematics Day was celebrated in our Vidyalaya on 21.12.2019 Srinivasa Ramanujan was the great mathematical genius who made exemplary contribution to Mathematics. Students actively participated and delivered a speech, poem, and some interesting facts about Ramanujan‟s contribution in Mathematics, and also conducted Quiz for the classes 6 to 10. Intellectual Development – Kindling Intellect – Analytical Ability, Creativity and Imagination Independent Thinking – Logic and Reasoning To help the students with a necessary life skill of the 21st Century. To build the community for CS Educators by providing mentorship and resources to teachers and explore ways to develop CS Education in India and curriculum that makes coding easy to teach and interesting to learn; teach coding with lessons that include eight activities aligned with student passions. ACTIVITY: To learn about CS First and Scratch, then create a story in which two characters talk without using questions. The activity CS First was presented by Google CS First Team under the theme, „Story Telling‟. Students of classes VIII & IX, underwent the activity, „Computer Science First‟ (CS First) conducted by Google, which aimed to create, explore and learn with coding. Students used scratch code to narrate fun and interactive stories. Storytelling emphasizes creativity by encouraging students to tell a unique story each day. ACTIVITY: The vidyalaya organized a career guidance presentation for the students and parents of classes IX & X .Smt. Uma Gopalakrishnan from „Admizzionz Campus‟ was the resource person. This session was convened to enable the parents to support and cater to the needs and interest of their children better. The session was highly informative and threw light upon the various careers, which lay latent. LEARNING The session was an eye-opener in true sense to both the OUTCOME: students and their parents for whom a standard profession meant only to be an engineer or a doctor. In our school this year we celebrated this event. It provided a basis for all the students to become inspired by reading their choice books. Reading improves memory and concentration as well as reduces stress. Books are an inexpensive entertainment, educational tool and time machine too. Teachers too sat and enjoyed reading their favourite book along with the students. Reading keeps us connected with the outside world and expands our vocabulary. It develops the skill of concentration and comprehension. LEARNING When our young minds are exposed to such a wealth of ideas OUTCOME: through reading, it helps them communicate with depth of thought and a wide mixture of emotional colours as well.

ACTIVITY: To understand that Oxygen is important for breathing and burning. Students are grouped into five groups. Students were given beaker and candle. They were asked to light the candle for few minutes and to cover the candle with the help of the beaker. Within few seconds, they observed that slowly the candle was put out. Through this activity students understood that oxygen is needed for burning and breathing. It is present everywhere. It is one of the constituents of air. Without air we cannot survive- likewise without the help of spirituality man cannot attain God. This was well understood by this activity. LEARNING Through this activity, students learnt that, oxygen is necessary for OUTCOME: burning and survival, so we should not pollute air. Children are exposed to festivals , customs and rituals to know the richness of our culture KG Students observed Diwali Celebrations on 25.09.2019 to become aware and to get exposed to why we celebrate Diwali. The celebrations began with Lakshmi Pooja. UKG children rendered Bhajans and sang Diwali Songs to bring in the Diwali sensation. LKG Children performed a dance. Teachers gave a demo on how to burst crackers in a safe manner. Teachers also explained as why we burst crackers on Diwal and the story of Rama and Ravanwas also told to the children. Area Yagna was organized and students of our vidyalaya chanted Chapter I (ARJUNA VISHADA YOGAHA). The swaranjali of our vidyalaya rendered bhajans every day before the commencement of the yagna. An exclusive Balavihar session was conducted separately for children on all days. Parents, staff and the residents of Avadi enthusiastically attended the Yagna of Swami Shivayoganandaji at Avadi. It was truly an overwhelming experience for all. LEARNING Parent gathered in a large number on all five days of yagna. The students were asked to draw free hand images. Few students drew their images on paper. Few other students used white powder and colours to show their imagination. They used different shapes in patterns to make images. They made their patterns with their creativity. Few students incorporated the line of symmetry in their images. They formed a symmetrical design using the mathematical concepts like shapes and parallel lines. They understood that a pattern is a definite sequence of shapes repeated over and over again. LEARNING Out of this activity, students got an exposure of trying out OUTCOME: symmetrical rangoli designs, which is a practice of Indian culture. It developed the curiosity among the students of how art is integrated with our culture and Mathematics. ACTIVITY: On November 12, 2019, students of class I were taken for a field trip to rail museum, ICF. During the visit, the teacher explained the benefits of the rail system in our country and also about the signal system in railways. Children were exposed to various ancient train models and enjoyed the toy train ride. The toy train took the children around the perimeter and the playground. Children enjoyed a lot in the play area with their friends. The play area included slides, swings, see-saws, etc., There were various types of coaches, engines, cranes, etc., The indoor art gallery and miniature model of trains attracted the children the most and also, the theatre where the children were shown videos of the fastest trains of different countries ranging from 1 to 10, a cartoon video that carried a value on helping others and an awareness video on plastic pollution. Children learnt to mingle with the other children while playing. During lunch time they sat together and shared their food as well as love and affection among their friends. This field trip created a great impact along with the sense of brotherhood among the children. The children came to know about the greatness of the Indian trains. The students of class II went on a field trip to Madhavaram dairy farm on 4th and 5th of December. The staff in the dairy farm explained the students how the milk is brought from various places and how it is processed. The students saw how the milk is packed in the packets and also how many types of milk were packed. Then the students were taken to the laboratory room where a detailed explanation about the quality of milk and how it is being tested was given they also saw how the milk packets were arranged in the milk trays. The students were explained that these milk packets will be distributed to the consumers for the next day’s use. LEARNING It was informative to the students. It was also an Eye-opener to the OUTCOME: students about how they get the dairy products and also about our traditions where we worship cows as God. It motivatedthem to protect and respect cows which imply the direct involvement of the child.

Pongal is one of the most popular and much celebrated festival of Tamil Nadu.Pongal festival is the harvest festival of South India It is renowned as a thanksgiving festival for various Hindu deities. It is celebrated to thank the Sun God and Lord Indra for helping farmers in getting better – yielding crops. “Thai” is the first month of the Tamil Almanac where the joy-filled Pongal occasion comes. The celebrationin the school took place on Tuesday, 14th January 2020, with much excitement and enthusiasm. Colourful ‘kolam’ decorated the entrance. Students of class Vcame in traditional dresses and exhibited joy and pride. In the school, ‘Pongal’ was made by cooking rice in an earthen pot on a brickstove. The programme started with invocation to the Almighty followed by a colourful folk dance. A short skit about the custom followed during Pongal was enacted by the students. Popular folk song added excitement among the audience. Finally, our Principal, Mrs. LathaGanesan, addressed the gathering and evoked the spirit of Pongal in each student by sharing the message of love and building strong relationship with their elders.‘SweetPongal’ was distributed to all. Rajeshwariamma, took sessions about language skills, Dr. Prakash, Shri Anandh and so many faculties took classes about technical languages. ACTIVITY: Spiritual Development – To discover the inherent Divinity in man. To enable students understand the significance of our tradition of Mathru-Pithru Pooja. Primary students of our Vidyalaya worshipped their parents by performing the Matru – Pitrupooja. Parents were overwhelmed by the act of their wards paying respect and honour to them. The swaranjali group performed chanting and the significance of the Pooja was narrated to the parents as well as the students. LEARNING “Matrudevo bhava” – Learning happens only when we are humble.
