201 86. Brāhmaṇo kho pana ambaṭṭha pokkharasādī rañño pasenadissa kosalassa dattikaṃ bhuñjati. Tassa rājā pasenadi kosalo sammukhībhāvampi na dadāti. Yadāpi tena manteti tirodussena manteti. Yassa kho pana ambaṭṭha dhammikaṃ payataṃ bhikkhaṃ patigaṇheyya, kathaṃ tassa rājā pasenadī kosalo sammukhībhāvampi na dadeyya? Passa ambaṭṭha yāva-aparaddhañca te idaṃ ācariyassa brāhmaṇassa pokkharasādissa. The Brahmin/indeed/Ambaṭṭha/Pakkharasāti/from King Kosala’s/giving/enjoys/to him/the King, Pasenadi Kosala/even a face to face meeting/does not allow/whenever with him/speaks/therough the curtain/discusses/then indeed/Ambaṭṭha/to one whe/righteous proceeded beging/has been received/how/to his/the King, Pasenadi Kosala/a face to face meeting/not give? See/what a wrong/Ambaṭṭha/of this teacher, Brahmin Pokkharasāti/ Taṃ kimmaññasi ambaṭṭha? Rājā pasenadi kosalo hatthigīvāya vā nisinno assapiṭṭhe vā nisinno rathūpatthare vā ṭhito uggehi vā rājaññehi vā kiñcideva mantaṇaṃ manteyya, so tamhā padesā apakkamma ekamantaṃ tiṭṭheyya. Atha āgaccheyya suddo vā suddadāso vā, so tasmiṃ padese ṭhito tadeva mantaṇaṃ manteyya: evampi rājā pasenadi kosalo āha evampi rājā pasenadī kosalo āhāti. Api nu so rājabhaṇitaṃ vā bhaṇati rājamantaṃ vā manteti, ettāvatā so assa rājā vā rājamahāmatto vāti?\" \"No hidaṃ bho gotama” What do you think/Ambaṭṭha/the King, Pasenadi Koasala/on the neck of elephant is sitting/or on the back of horse/is sitting/or on the chariot cover/is staining/with the countries or/with the crowned princes/some discussion/ discusses/he/from that area/having stepped aside/ stands/then/if comes/a workman/or woman’s slave/he/on that same place/standing/that same discussion/discusses/thus the king, Pasenadi Kosala/said/in this way the king, Pasenadi Kosala says/or even/he/the king’s saying or speaks/kings discussion or dicusses/with this extent/is he the king or king’s minister? Evameva kho tvaṃ ambaṭṭha, ye te ahesuṃ brāhmaṇānaṃ pubbakā isayo mantānaṃ kattāro mantānaṃ pavattāro, yesamidaṃ etarahi brāhmaṇā porāṇaṃ mantapadaṃ gītaṃ pavuttaṃ samūhitaṃ tadanuggāyanti tadanubhāsanti bhāsitamanubhāsanti vācitamanuvācenti, seyyathīdaṃ: aṭṭako vāmako vāmadevo vessāmitto yamataggī aṅgiraso bhāradvājo vāseṭṭho kassapo bhagu, tyāhaṃ mante adhiyāmi sācariyako’ti tāvatā tvaṃ bhavissasi isi vā isittāya vā paṭinno’ti netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. 203 89. \"Evaṃ su te sālīnaṃ odanaṃ sucimaṃsūpasecanaṃ vicitakālakaṃ anekasūpaṃ anekabyañjanaṃ paribhuñjanti, seyyathāpi tvaṃ etarahi sācariyako?\"Ti. \"No hidaṃ bho gotama. \" Or/did they/fine rice/with black spots removed/with various soups and curry/various foods/eat as you eat/now/together your teacher? No Venerable Gotama \"Evaṃ su te veṭhanakapassāhi nārīhi paricārenti seyyathāpi tvaṃ etarahi sācariyako?\"Ti. \"No hidaṃ bho gotama. \" Or/did they/dressed up with flounces and fur belows/with ladies/as you do/now/together with your teacher? No Venerable Gotama? \"Evaṃ su te kuttavālehi vaḷavārathehi dīghāhi patodalaṭṭhihi vāhane vitudentā vipariyāyanti seyyathāpi tvaṃ etarahi sācariyako?\"Ti. \" No hidaṃ bho gotama. \" Or/did they/with braided tales/drawn by mares/urged with long goat-sticks/with chariots/ride around/as you ride/now/together your teacher? No Venerable Gotama \"Evaṃ su te ukkiṇṇaparikhāsu okkhittapalighāsu nagarūpakārikāsu dīghāsibaddhehi purisehi rakkhāpeti seyyathāpi tvaṃ etarahi sācariyako?\"Ti. \" No hidaṃ bho gotama. \" Or/did they/with equipment dug out/with cross-bars erected/with cement wall fortified town/with long sworded man/be guarded/as you guard/now/together with your teacher? No Venerable Gotama/ Iti kho ambaṭṭha neva tvaṃ isi, na isittāya paṭipanno sācariyako. Yassa kho pana ambaṭṭha mayi kaṅkhā vā vimati vā, so maṃ pañhena, ahaṃ veyyakaraṇena sodhissāmī\"ti. Thus/Ambaṭṭha/you are not a sage/no the one who practices the way as a sage/together your teacher/whatever is/my wish or perplexity/it is with this question/I/with analyse/will clear/

204 90. Atha kho bhagavā vihārā nikkhamma caṅkamaṃ abbhuṭṭhāsi. Ambaṭṭho’pi māṇavo vihārā nikkhamma caṅkamaṃ abbhuṭṭhāsi. Atha kho ambaṭṭho māṇavo bhagavantaṃ caṅkamantaṃ anucaṅkamamāno kāye dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇāni samannesi. Addasa kho ambaṭṭho māṇavo bhagavato kāye dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇāni yebhuyyena ṭhapetvā dve. Dvīsu mahāpurisalakkhaṇesu kaṅkhati vicikicchati nādhimuccati na sampasīdati kosohite ca vatthaguyhe pahūtajivhatāya ca. Then the Fortunate One/from the monastery/having gone out/on the walking up and down/stood up/Ambaṭṭha/the young man, too/from the monastery/having gone out/on the walk up and down/stood up/then/Ambaṭṭha/the young man/the Fortunate One/who is walking up and down/with following walk up and down/in the body/the thirty-two great person’s marks/searched/Saw/Ambaṭṭha/the young man/in Buddha’s body/thirty-two great person’s marks/almost except two/among those two great person’s marks/is in doubt and perplexity/couldn’t make up mind/couldn’t be certain/the sheathed genitals/the large tongue/

205 91. Atha kho bhagavato etadahosi: passati kho me ayaṃ ambaṭṭho māṇavo dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇāni yebhuyyena ṭhapetvā dve. Dvīsu mahāpurisalakkhaṇesu kaṅkhati vicikicchati nādhimuccati na sampasīdati kosohite ca vatthaguyhe pahūtajivhatāya cāti. Atha kho bhagavā tathārūpaṃ iddhābhisaṅkhāraṃ abhisaṅkāsi yathā addasa ambaṭṭho māṇavo bhagavato kosohitaṃ vatthaguyhaṃ. Atha kho bhagavā jivhaṃ ninnāmetvā ubho’pi kaṇṇasotāni anumasi parimasi. Ubho’pi nāsikāsotāni anumasi parimasi. Kevalampi naḷāṭamaṇḍalaṃ jivhāya chādesi. Then/there arose in the Fortunate One/see/indeed/of me/this Ambaṭṭha/the young man/thirty-two great person’s marks/except two/ among those two great person’s marks/is in doubt and perplexity/couldn’t make up mind/couldn’t be certain/the sheathed genitals/the large tongue/then the Fortunate One/such type of miracle has shown/where have seen/Ambaṭṭha/the young man/of the Fortunate One sheathed genitals/then the Fortunate One/having reached out the tongue/ both ears and both nostrils/touched with and touched against/the whole of the forehead space the toungue had covered/ Atha kho ambaṭṭhassa māṇavassa etadahosi: samannāgato kho samaṇo gotamo dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇehi paripuṇṇehi no aparipuṇṇehīti bhagavantaṃ etadavoca: \"handa ca’dāni mayaṃ bho gotama gacchāma. Bahukiccā mayaṃ bahukaraṇīyā\"ti. \"Yassa’dāni tvaṃ ambaṭṭha kālaṃ maññasīti\". Atha kho ambaṭṭho māṇavo vaḷavārathamāruyha pakkāmi. Then/Ambaṭṭha/to Amabbaṭṭha, the young man/it occurred thus/ “Possess/indeed/the recluse Gotama/with thirty two marks of a great person/completed/nothing is incomplete/to the Fortunate One said as flows; Well, then Venerable Gotama/let us to leave/having many duties that I have much to do” For this now that you/Ambaṭṭha/of the time may think/at that time/Ambaṭṭha/the young man/to the horse chariot/having ascended/went out/

206 92. Tena kho pana samayena brahmaṇo pokkharasādi ukkaṭṭhāya nikkhamitvā mahatā brāhmaṇagaṇena saddhiṃ sake ārāme nisinno hoti ambaṭṭhaṃ yeva māṇavaṃ patimānento. Atha kho ambaṭṭho māṇavo yena sako ārāmo tena pāyāsi. Yāvatikā yānassa bhūmi yānena gantvā yānā paccorohitvā pattiko’va yena brāhmaṇo pokkharasādī tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā brāhmaṇaṃ pokkharasādiṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. 93. Ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ kho ambaṭṭhaṃ māṇavaṃ brāhmaṇo pokkharasādī etadavoca: kacci tāta ambaṭṭha addasa taṃ bhavantaṃ gotamanti?. \"Addasāma kho bho taṃ bhavantaṃ gotamanti. \" By that time/the Brahmin, Pokkharasāti/from Ukkaṭṭhā/having departed/along with many Brahmins/at his own monastery/was sat down/Ambaṭṭha, the young man/with expecting/then/Ambaṭṭha/the young man/where his monastery/went forth/as far as chariot can go/having gone by chariot/from it/having descended/by walking/where the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/approached there/having approached the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/worshipped/in a side/sat down/ On one side seated then/to Ambaṭṭha/the young man/the Brahmin, Pokkharasāti said as thus/how/my son/did you see that Venerable Gotama? Yes/Sir/I have seen that Venerable Gotama \"Kacci tāta ambaṭṭha taṃ bhavantaṃ gotamaṃ tathā santo yeva saddo abbhuggato no aññathā? Kacci pana bho so bhavaṃ gotamo tādiso no aññādiso?\"Ti. \"Tathā santo yeva bho taṃ bhavantaṃ gotamaṃ saddo abbhuggato no aññathā. Tādiso’va bho so bhavaṃ gotamo no aññādiso. Samannāgato ca bho so bhavaṃ gotamo dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇehi paripuṇṇehi no aparipuṇṇehī\"ti. \"Ahu pana te tāta ambaṭṭha samaṇena gotamena saddhiṃ kocideva kathāsallāpo?\"Ti. \"Ahu kho yeva bho samaṇena gotamena saddhiṃ kocideva kathāsallāpo?\"Ti. \"Yathākathaṃ pana te tāta ambaṭṭha ahu samaṇena gotamena saddhiṃ kocideva kathāsallāpo?\"Ti. Atha kho ambaṭṭho māṇavo yāvatako ahosi bhagavatā saddhiṃ kathāsallāpo taṃ sabbaṃ brāhmaṇassa pokkharasādissa ārocesi.

207 Is it/my son/Ambattha/that he/the Venerable Gotama/thus reputation went out/with no indeed/alternation? Is it/that he/ the Venerable Gotama/has such quality with/ no indeed difference? It is thus/reputation/Sir/that he/the Venerable Gotama has reputation went out with/no indeed alternation/such quality also that he/the Venerable Gotama has with/no indeed difference/had possessed also that he/the Venerable Gotama/of the thirty two marks of a great person/being completed/with no indeed incomplete/ Was there/with the recluse Gotama/ whatever discussion? Yes/indeed/Sir/there was/with the recluse Gotama/such discussion/ How was/my son/Ambaṭṭha/with the recluse Gotama/that discussion? Then/Ambaṭṭha/the young man/how was/with the Fortunate One/the discussion/that all discussion/to the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/informed/ 94. Evaṃ vutte brāhmaṇo pokkharasādī ambaṭṭhaṃ māṇavaṃ etadavoca: \"aho vata re, amhākaṃ paṇḍitaka! Aho vata re amhākaṃ bahussutaka! Aho vata re, amhākaṃ tevijjaka! Evarūpena kira bho puriso atthacarakena kāyassa bhedā parammaraṇā apāyaṃ duggatiṃ vinipātaṃ nirayaṃ upapajjeyya. Yadeva kho tvaṃ ambaṭṭha taṃ bhavantaṃ gotamaṃ evaṃ āsajja āsajja avacāsi. Atha kho bhavaṃ gotamo amhe’pi evaṃ upaneyya upaneyya avaca. Aho vata re, amhākaṃ paṇḍitaka! Aho vata re, amhākaṃ bahussutaka! Aho vata re, amhākaṃ tevijjaka! Evarūpena kira bho puriso atthacarakena kāyassa bhedā parammaraṇā apāyaṃ duggatiṃ vinipātaṃ nirayaṃ upapajjeyyā\"ti kupito anattamano ambaṭṭhaṃ māṇavaṃ padasā yeva pavattesi. Icchati ca tāvadeva bhagavantaṃ dassanāya upasaṅkamituṃ.

208 95. atha kho te brāhmaṇā brāhmaṇaṃ pokkharasādiṃ etadavocuṃ: ativikālo kho bho ajja samaṇaṃ gotamaṃ dassanāya upasaṅkamituṃ. Svedāni bhavaṃ pokkharasātī samaṇaṃ gotamaṃ dassanāya upasaṅkamissatī\"ti. When it was said thus/the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/to Ambaṭṭha/the young man said as follows; Alas!/this he, is our wise one/alas! This he/is our very learned/alas! This he/is our possessor of the threefold knowledge of Vedas/By such type of/O person/by rendering service to other/ after the breaking away of the body/after the death/to state of loss and woe/ a birth of hell/will get to/that is you/Ambaṭṭha/at the Venerable Gotama/thus/knocking against/spoke/then/Venerable Gotama, too/to us/as thus/accusing/spoke/Alas!/this he, is our wise one/alas! This he/is our very learned/alas! This he/is our possessor of the threefold knowledge of Vedas/By such type of/O person/by rendering service to other/ after the breaking away of the body/after the death/to state of loss and woe/ a birth of hell/will get to/as being angry/being displeased mind/to Ambaṭṭha, the young man/with his foot so he wielded/is willingness/at once/the Fortunate One/to see/approach/ Then/those Brahmins/to the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/said as thus/it is too late/sir/today/recluse Gotama/to see/to approach/tomorrow/Sir/Pokkharasāti/recluse Gotama/to see/will approach/ Atha kho brāhmaṇo sake nivesane paṇītaṃ khādanīyaṃ bhojanīyaṃ paṭiyādāpetvā yānesu āropetvā ukkāsu dhāriyamānāsu ukkaṭṭhāya niyyāsi. Yena icchānaṅgalavanasaṇḍo tena pāyāsi. Yāvatikā yānassa bhūmi yānena gantvā yānā paccorohitvā pattiko’va yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami. Upasaṅkamitvā bhagavatā saddhiṃ sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sārāṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho brāhmaṇo pokkharasādī bhagavantaṃ etadavoca: \"āgamānukhavidha bho gotama amhākaṃ antevāsī ambaṭṭho māṇavo?\"Ti. Then/the Brahmin/at his house/delicious/solid and soft food/having caused to offer/on chariots/having caused to ascend/while the torch holders hold the torches/to Ukkaṭṭha /set out/where Icchāmaṅgala jungle went forth there/as far as the chariot road that the chariot could go/having gone/from the chariot/having discerned/while walking/where is the Fortunate One/approached there/having approached/with the Fortunate One/having exchanged the friendly greeting/in a side/sat down/ Being seated in a side/the Brahmin, Pokkarasāti/to the Fortunate One said thus/has ccome here/Venerable Gotama/our student/Ambaṭṭha/the young man? \"Āgamā kho te antevāsī ambaṭṭho māṇavo\"ti. \"Ahu pana te bho gotama ambaṭṭhena māṇavena saddhiṃ kocideva kathāsallāpo?\"Ti. \"Ahu kho me brāhmaṇa ambaṭṭhena māṇavena saddhiṃ kocideva kathāsallāpo\"ti. \"Yathākathaṃ pana te bho gotama ahu ambaṭṭhena māṇavena saddhiṃ kocideva kathāsallāpo?\"Ti. Atha kho bhagavā yāvatiko ahosi ambaṭṭhena māṇavena saddhiṃ kathāsallāpo, taṃ sabbaṃ brāhmaṇassa pokkharasādissa ārocesi.

209 Yes, he has come/your student/Ambaṭṭha/the young man Was there/Venerable Gotama/with Ambaṭṭha/the young man/any discussion? Yes, there was/my/ Brahmin/with Ambaṭṭha/the young man/some discussion/ How was/you/Venerable Gotama/with Ambaṭṭha/the young man/some discussion? Then/the Fortunate One/how was the discussion with Ambaṭṭha, the young man/all that/to the Brahmin, Pokkhrasāti has informed/ \"Evaṃ vutte brāhmaṇo pokkharasādi bhagavantaṃ etadavoca: bālo bho gotama ambaṭṭho māṇavo. Khamatu bhavaṃ gotamo ambaṭṭhassa māṇavassā\"ti. \"Sukhī hotu brāhmaṇa ambaṭṭho māṇavo\"ti. When it was said thus/the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/to the Fortunate One/said thus/fool is/Venerable Gotama/Ambaṭṭha, the young man/let forgive/Venerable Gotama/to Ambaṭṭha, the young man Let be happy/the Brahmin/Ambaṭṭha, the young man! 96. Atha kho brāhmaṇo pokkharasādi bhagavato kāye dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇāni samannesi. Addasā kho brāhmaṇo pokkharasādī bhagavato kāye dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇāni yebhuyyena ṭhapetvā dve. Dvīsu mahāpurisalakkhaṇesu kaṅkhati vicikicchati nādhimuccati na sampasīdati kosohite ca vatthaguyhe pahūtajivhatāya ca. Atha kho brāhmaṇassa pokkharasādissa etadahosi: \"samannāgato kho samaṇo gotamo dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇehi paripuṇṇehi no aparipuṇṇehī\"ti bhagavantaṃ etadavoca: adhivāsetu me bhavaṃ gotamo ajjatanāya bhattaṃ saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghenā\"ti. Adhivāsesi bhagavā tuṇhībhāvena. Then/to the Brahmin, Pokkharasāti/it occurred thus/had processed/indeed/the recluse Gotama/with thirty-two great person’s marks/being completed/with no indeed incomplete’ to the Fortunate One/said thus/Let/my/Venerable Gotama/from today/meals/together with community of bhikkhus/Accepted/the Fortunate One/with keeping silence/

211 99. Atha kho brāhmaṇo pokkharasādī bhagavato, adhivāsanaṃ viditvā bhagavato kālaṃ ārocesi: kālo bho gotama, niṭṭhitaṃ bhattanti. ’ Atha kho bhagavā pubbanhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghena yena buhmaṇassa pokkharasādissa parivesanā tenupasaṅkhami. Upasaṅkamitvā paññatte āsane nisīdi. Atha kho brāhmaṇo pokkharasātī bhagavantaṃ paṇītena khādanīyena bhojanīyena sahatthā santappesi sampavāresi. Māṇavakā’pi bhikkhusaṅghaṃ. Atha kho brāhmaṇo pokkharasātī bhagavantaṃ bhuttāviṃ onītapattapāṇiṃ aññataraṃ nīcaṃ āsanaṃ gahetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Then/the Brahmin, Pokkharasāti/of the Fortunate One/acceptance/having known/to the Fortunate One/the time/has informed/it is the time Venerable Gotama/ready/the meal is/ Then/the Fortunate One/having passed the morning time/having taken the bowl and robe/together with the community of bhikkhus/where/of the Brahmin Pokkharasāti’s resting place/approached there/having approached/on the prepared seat/sat down/then/the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/the Fortunate One/with delicious solid and soft foods/with his own hands/made satisfy and offer/the youngman, too/to the community of bhikkhus/then/the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/the Fortunate One/having eated and kept down the bowl/a certain/lower chair/having take/in a side/sat down/

Ekamantaṃ nisinnassa kho brāhmaṇassa pokkharasādissa bhagavā ānupubbīkathaṃ kathesi, seyyathīdaṃ: dānakathaṃ sīlakathaṃ saggakathaṃ kāmānaṃ ādīnavaṃ okāraṃ saṃkilesaṃ nekkhamme ca ānisaṃsaṃ pakāsesi. Yadā bhagavā aññāsi brāhmaṇaṃ pokkharasātiṃ kallacittaṃ muducittaṃ vinīvaraṇacittaṃ udaggacittaṃ pasannacittaṃ, atha yā buddhānaṃ sāmukkaṃsikā dhammadesanā taṃ pakāsesi: dukkhaṃ samudayaṃ nirodhaṃ maggaṃ. Seyyathāpi nāma suddhaṃ vatthaṃ apagatakāḷakaṃ sammadeva rajanaṃ paṭiggaṇheyya, evameva brāhmaṇassa pokkharasādissa tasmiṃ yeva āsane virajaṃ vītamalaṃ dhammacakkhuṃ udapādi yaṃ kiñci samudayadhammaṃ sabbaṃ taṃ nirodhadhammanti. To the one who seated in a side/to the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/the Fortunate One/gradual instruction/ had explained/as/charity/virtuous/heaven/sensual pleasure’s danger/corruption of defilements/the renunciation’s benefits/explained/whenever/the Fortunate One knew/the Brahmin Pokkharasati having amenable mind/soft mind/unbiased mind/joyful mind/devotion in heart/then/what the Buddha’s condensed moral instruction/to his/explored: the suffering/the cause of suffering/the cessation of suffering/the path that lead to the cessation of suffering/ Just as a pure cloth/which has no dirty/at once/colours/receives/as same as/to the Brahmin Pokkharasāti/on that seat/free from the defilement/stireless/eye of the dhamma/arose/anything that is destined to come to existence/that thing must also cease to exist/

213 101. Atha kho brāhmaṇo pokkharasādī diṭṭhadhammo pattadhammo viditadhammo pariyogāḷhadhammo tiṇṇavicikiccho vigatakathaṃkatho vesārajjappatto aparappaccayo satthusāsane bhagavantaṃ etadavoca: \"abhikkantaṃ bho gotama abhikkantaṃ bho gotama. Seyyathāpi bho gotama nikkujjitaṃ vā ukkujjeyya paṭicchannaṃ vā vivareyya mūḷhassa vā maggaṃ ācikkheyya andhakāre vā telapajjotaṃ dhāreyya cakkhumanto rūpāni dakkhintīti, evameva bhotā gotamena anekapariyāyena dhammo pakāsito. Esāhaṃ bho gotama saputto sabhariyo sapariso sāmacco bhavantaṃ gotamaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmi dhammañca bhikkhusaṅghañca. Upāsakaṃ maṃ bhavaṃ gotamo dhāretu ajjatagge pāṇupetaṃ saraṇaṃ gataṃ. Yathā ca bhavaṃ gotamo ukkaṭṭhāya aññāni upāsakakulāni upasaṅkamati evameva bhavaṃ gotamo pokkharasādikulaṃ upasaṅkamatu. Tattha ye te māṇavakā vā māṇavikā vā bhavantaṃ gotamaṃ abhivādessanti vā paccuṭṭhissanti vā āsanaṃ vā udakaṃ vā dassanti cittaṃ vā pasādessanti, tesaṃ taṃ bhavissanti dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāyā\"ti. \"Kalyāṇaṃ vuccati brāhmaṇā\"ti. Then the Brahmin/Pokkharasāti/recognizing the dhamma /mastering the dhamma /knowing the dhamma/penetrating into the dhamma /knowing the dhamma /being distructed of doubt/without uncertainty/became the perfect self-confidence/without relying on anyone else/of the master’s teaching/to the Fortunate One/said thus/ excellent Venerable Gotama/excellent Venerable Gotama/just as/venerable/what is over thrown/has been turned up/what is hidden/has been revealed/to who has lost the right road has been pointed out/in the darkness/an oil lamp has been held/ ‘so that one with clear sights, the forms can see’/as same as/by the Fortunate One/with various analizes/the dhamma was explained/Now/I/with my children/with my wife/with persons/with my ministers/to the Venerable Fortunate One/as my refuge/go/the dhamma and the bhikkhu saṅgha/As the lay devotee that I/the Venerable/let accept/from this day onward/as long as life endures/as one who went the refuge/as/the Venerable Gotama/at Ukkaṭṭha/other lay devotees families/approaches/as same as/the Venerable Gotama/to the house of Pokkharasāti, too/let approach/ there/whoever youn men and young women/to the Venerable Gotama/will respect/will follow/or offer the seat or water/will make their minds be pleased/if it happen within them/it will be for a long time/for the benefit the happiness/Well says/Brahmin Ambaṭṭhasuttaṃ tatiyaṃ Ambaṭṭhasutta the third (No.3) .
