LOT 202 50C 1831 PCGS MS64 CAC O-104. This premium Bust Half Dollar is easily a condition census piece (the Overton-Parsley census is 67,65,63,63,63). Essentially of GEM quality, but close inspection shows only a thin line, with no ticks to be found, and a good luster shows off satiny smooth surfaces. The obverse is coated by a mellow mix of original gold/pale green/ pale champagne colors while the reverse enjoys more golden brown. Miss Liberty and the details are very well struck. The eye appeal is fabulous! PCGS 159, NGC 109, CAC 39. This coin once appeared in our June 2015 Regency Auction for $3,643. More recently examples have sold in the $3,000 to $3,350 range and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,500 Scarce finer! PCGS# 6159 | ESTIMATE: $3,000+ LOT 203 50C 1831 PCGS MS64+ A Condition Census O-109. This is a very highly lustrous and near-GEM blisteringly brilliant half. Untoned and flashy with a touch of prooflike reflection in the fields, the devices are sharply impressed and stand out against the fields. Interesting for such a late date, there are a few planchet adjustment marks that can be found with the aid of a glass on the lower reverse. A touch of iridescent toning at the rims, but this would fit nicely in any untoned set. PCGS 7, NGC 2. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $4,000 and the last one sold in a weaker market (2016), so its APR does not count in today’s market. A great looking coin like this belongs in a great type set or date set. Good luck! PCGS# 6159 | ESTIMATE: $3,200+ LOT 204 50C 1833 PCGS MS64+ CAC O-102. A Condition Census level, totally original near-GEM Bust half. Rich, old time collection type toning graces both sides and the earthy tones are brought to life by a lively, underlying satiny glow. Nicely struck up, the details are crisp and bold throughout, with just some minor weakness on the star centers. A lovely “laced lips” variety, this coin is a wonderful addition to any collection. PCGS 93, NGC 83, CAC 22. PCGS has graded 12 in MS64+ and the most recent PCGS/CAC coin sold for $3,720 in the 2019 FUN auction. The current PCGS value is listed at $5,000. This is an easily identified die marriage with Star 5 recut and a die line that extends from the base of I to the C in AMERICA. Boasting an old-time collection look with a satiny luster that gleams in the fields, this GEM has an even dusting of pewter, gold, slate, and blue toning on both sides, clearly a coin that sat unmolested in an old collector envelope for a long time. Totally original, the eye appeal is exceptional in every way. PCGS 18, NGC 20, CAC 8. This is the Sibermunzen Collection coin, sold in May 2008 for $12,765. More recently, the ONLY CAC-approved coin to ever sell in auction brought $9,106 in the 2015 Central States auction. The current Collectors Universe value is $11,500 and we believe this GEM has been off the market since 2008. This coin will see very spirited bidding when it crosses the auction block. Keep in mind that a coin could be either low or high end for the grade, have stunning color or be dull, all of which radically affect a coin’s value. Yes, there can be huge price differences within a grade, and we offer estimates as a guide so Collector’s can have a better idea of value. One thing we will never do is offer low ball estimates in order to claim stronger sales. These published estimates represent what Legend Rare Coin Auctions determines to be an approximate high wholesale value for the coin. The numbers are based upon current market values, similar trades, auction prices, published prices, and a consideration of the coin’s quality. There is no guarantee that the estimated prices are minimums or are exactly what you can expect to get if you attempt to resell them wholesale. LOT 207 50C 1836 REEDED EDGE. PCGS MS63 CAC In 1836, the mint made a major transition to the modern age with the installation of new steam powered presses. With this installation, the new presses could strike coins with a closed collar, which would allow for proper raised rims and reeded edges. The first half dollars were struck late in the year with only 1,200 struck for circulation. The presently offered, fully CHOICE example has semi- reflective lustrous fields. The surfaces are evenly toned with teal, dove, lilac, and tinges of original rose. The eye appeal is fantastic. Sharply struck devices stand out against the fields. A strong glass reveals traces of ancient contact, nothing that is distracting and mostly hidden under the very pretty toning. This is a classic of American numismatics, a KEY issue in the half dollar series, and in constant demand from collectors. PCGS 6, NGC 6, CAC 2. Only one CAC-approved example has ever sold in auction; the ex Gardner coin that had a GOLD CAC sticker, realized $52,875 in June 2014. Non-CAC PCGS coins have sold since for $17,685 and $19,975. The current Collectors Universe Price Guide value is listed at $22,500, and this coin should realize a price in excess of that when the hammer finally falls. Great for a date set, or for a very carefully curated type set. PCGS# 6175 | ESTIMATE: $22,000+ 101

The sharply struck devices and satiny smooth surfaces have a velvety, creamy silver luster that shows off the subtlest pearlescent iridescent look on both sides. The eye appeal is unmarred on this one year only type. PCGS 217, NGC 75, CAC 31. The most recent PCGS/CAC coin to sell in auction realized $8,400 in June 2018; prior to that, two sold in 2016, including this one that realized $5,640 in the 2016 ANA auction. Clearly the current Collectors Universe value of $4,500 does not take into account CAC-approved examples and remember any MS65 will cost around $20,000! Good luck! PCGS# 6275 | ESTIMATE: $4,500+ LOT 209 50C 1870-CC PCGS XF45 The first year of coinage operations at the Carson City mint produced 54,617 half dollars, and the needs of the regional economy kept these in circulation for a long time. Most known examples are heavily circulated and have condition issues. This choice XF has a very good look. Generally smooth and problem free light circulation in the fields and on the design elements. A glass reveals a few minor circulation marks, none that are obtrusive to the good eye appeal. The surfaces are toned in a slate and battleship blend of blue/gray that yields to some rose and gold accents when rotated in a light. The devices are well defined with a good strike. This generally problem free example has a neat look. PCGS 7, NGC 7. It is interesting that there are no CAC-approved examples in XF40, XF45, and AU50. The most recent PCGS XF45 to sell in auction realized $17,625 in the 2015 FUN auction - hard to believe that was four years ago! More recently a PCGS AU50 sold for $21,000 in the 2019 FUN sale. LOT 210 50C 1870-CC PCGS AU50 This is one of the most coveted early Carson City issues and best of all in a high collector grade! Just a touch of light wear from a short term in wild west commerce can be seen in the fields as some friction, and there is just some light rub on the high points of the design types. Generally soft pewter and dove patina shows accents of gold and lilac with a few deeper russet specks present, attesting to the originality of this rare coin. The first year of coinage at Carson City saw a mintage of 54,617 half dollars, but from that number only a few hundred survive, the vast majority of them showing either extensive circulation and/or some sort of condition problems. Five pairs of dies have been identified by Wiley and Bugert, this being WB-101, die pair 2, and this is the Plate coin in their reference. PCGS 4, NGC 5. LOT 215 50C 1917-S OBVERSE. PCGS MS65 CAC FROM THE GRAND PRIX COLLECTION. Ex Gerald R. Forsythe Collection, as noted on the insert. WOW! This is a wonderfully ORIGINAL GEM! Magnificent vibrant luster has a rich satiny glow on both sides. The surfaces are nearly flawless and have a thick frost. Razor sharp in strike, every detail is very crisp. Liberty’s drapery and thumb are fully delineated and they stand out like like they were hand carved into the metal. Both sides have a touch of clear gold toning that blends with slightly deeper olive-tan and russet on the reverse. Clearly, this GEM has not been dipped or stripped in efforts to obtain an even higher grade. One of the key issues of the series, this is one of the hardest dates to locate in GEM Mint State grades. Only 952,000 were struck and few were saved at the time of issue, the booming wartime economy called the coins to commercial channels, and few collectors realized the importance this date would have in the future. PCGS 44, NGC 29, CAC 10. We sold one in December 2017 for $30,550 and there was just one other sold since, realizing $24,000 in the 2018 FUN auction. The current PCGS value is listed at $28,000. The reverse is especially impressive with swirling cartwheels. The devices are crisply struck with essentially full definition throughout the drapery and all of Liberty’s details. Both sides are framed by a amber-gold and a pale teal-blue. The remaining silver surfaces are original silver with just a hint of the most subtle, iridescent tone. LOT 218 50C 1921 PCGS MS65 FROM THE GRAND PRIX COLLECTION. Ex Gerald R. Forsythe Collection, as noted on the PCGS insert. This is a high end GEM example of this important KEY date issue. After the First World War, the US economy went into a very serious recession, and coins dated 1921 in general are considered scarce to rare in their respective series (except Morgan dollars). The Philadelphia mint produced 246,000 halves this year, the vast majority of which quickly entered into circulation. The typical survivor is well worn, and GEMS like this are truly VERY RARE. A bold, glowing mint luster swirls with a strong vibrance and brilliance on both sides. A delicate dusting of peach-gold iridescent tone graces the obverse rim, coming out when the intense luster is rotated in a light. A strong glass reveals a few tiny traces of contact, which is the only reason we can think of that this GEM did not get a CAC bean. It is very high end and visually appealing in every way. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp in strike and thickly frosted. The eye appeal is great! PCGS 1, NGC 8, CAC 4. There is NO auction record for this coin. The Collectors Universe Value is only $13,500. We can tell you, the Y-D collector paid more. Opportunity knocks loud here! PCGS# 5686 | ESTIMATE: $13,500+ LOT 264 25C 1909 PCGS PR68+ CAC FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION All hail the king! We feel this beats out the 25C 1893 PR68+ from this set because there is a little more reverse toning. Take nothing away from this coin - it is a MONSTER! Deep mirrors are endless and beam from all over. The mirrors are the ultimate in clarity and cleanliness. When you twirl this coin, you see the tremendous flash of the semi watery mirrors, but it’s the colors that nearly blind you. This coin absolutely has “Northern Lights Morgan Colors” spread all over. There are totally original shades of neon like pearl green/violet/blue/gold/reddish gold that swirl all over. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and do stand out. The eye appeal here is breathtaking! Only 650 were minted. PCGS 8, NGC 12, CAC 9 (seems like a lot). This is the only PR68+ for the date. There are only 4 PR68+ for the series (w/the 1893 included). Of course, this coin has never been sold via action. The current Collectors Universe guesstimate is $20,000. We think there will be strong bidding on this masterpiece as it will up lift any GEM Collection. PCGS# 5695 | ESTIMATE: $18,000+ 126
LOT 265 25C 1911 PCGS PR67 CAM CAC FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION. This ultra high-end SUPERB GEM 1911 rates among the wildest toned Barber Quarter Proofs in existence! We have no idea why it’s not a PR67+ at the very least! Outrageous, deep, crystal clear, intensely reflective mirrors are the epitome of perfection. Only a single, thin line can be found with the assistance of a powerful loupe. Both sides are evenly bathed in a nearly blinding, original mix of violet, blue, and rich amber-gold color that really pops when you rotate the mirrored fields in the light. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp and have thick, killer, lilac toned frost that contrasts brilliantly against the mirrored fields. The eye appeal is out of this world! Only 543 Proofs were ever struck. PCGS 9, NGC 10, CAC 10. The last one to sell in auction brought $8,519 in our February 2015 Regency Auction. This SUPERB GEM blows every other one away! Certainly among the wildest toned Barber Proofs we have had the pleasure of selling! We think this coin could bring a record for the grade when it crosses the block! Superior deep (really deep), crystal clear, clean, and highly reflective mirrors beam from all over. They look like a freshly made sheet of glass. It’s hard not to want to twirl this coin all day! A subtle hint of gold/champagne can be seen splashed around. Miss Liberty and the details are thickly frosted and have crisp full strikes. The eye appeal is great! Only 700 Proofs were ever minted. PCGS 8, NGC 7, CAC 12. The current Collectors Universe value is a meek $4,500. These are still top of our list as a great set to build for long term appreciation. They have become WAY TOO CHEAP! LOT 267 50C 1891 PCGS PR65 CAM CAC FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION What a killer Proof! No question this coin is SUPER HIGH-END. Miles deep mirrors beam intensely from all over. The mirrors are crystal clear and extremely clean. When you twirl the coin, the mirrors look like a rolling river of liquid mercury. The contrast is nearly blinding. This is a coin you need to wear sunglasses to view. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have thick iridescent white frost. The eye appeal is tremendous! Only 600 were minted. PCGS 11, NGC 8, CAC 4. The last PCGS piece to sell was a NON CAC. It brought $3,840 in June 2016. The current Collectors Universe Value is $3,750-yet even a non-CAC sold nearly 3 years ago surpassed that. No question for a high-end killer looking coin like this, the value is much more than $3,750. We expect really strong bidding here. Be ready! A closer look, and this coin grabs you and shakes you up. It is a marvel that this coin survives in such a pristine state and is virtually flawless! The mirrors beam and gleam from all over, and are the epitome of smoothness, cleanliness, and clarity. The well struck devices have a mix of frostiness and flawless gloss. Both sides are awash in a uniquely patterned iridescence, featuring blended hues of peach-gold, sea-green, ruby-red, powder-blue, and lemon-yellow. The eye appeal is truly spectacular in every way! PCGS 2, NGC 5, CAC 1. This coin has only appeared in auction one time, selling as an old holdered NGC coin, which realized $21,150 back in February 2013. Today, as a PCGS/CAC it will realize a very strong price from those who demand the absolute FINEST in 19th century proof coinage. LOT 269 $1 1885 PCGS PR66 CAM CAC FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION. When it comes to Proof Morgan dollars, often times, deep, rich toning can obscure cameo contrast. This PQ and totally original GEM 1885 is a very pleasing exception! Sharply struck devices are nicely frosted and they contrast wonderfully against the flashy, watery mirrors that have a bold clarity and smoothness. The toning pattern starts as deep blue-green and purple at the rims, blending to to a lovely variegated gold toward the centers. The contrast is bold with an inspiring visual allure. Only 930 Proofs were struck. PCGS 20, NGC 13, CAC 11. The most recent example to sell in auction realized $14,100 in our November 2018 Regency Auction; and prior to that, one sold in March 2018 for $15,600. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $11,000 and keep in mind how rare this date is any finer. Worthy of a very high end collection of Proof Morgan dollars and we can see this GEM selling for a very strong price for its high end premium look! PCGS# 87320 | ESTIMATE: $12,000+ OUR ESTIMATES The estimates you see published in this catalog are based on HAMMER. LOT 270 $1 1893-CC BRANCH MINT PROOF. PCGS PR65+ CAC FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION Legend Rare Coin Auctions is proud to offer one of the most important rarities in the Morgan Dollar series: the Branch Mint Proof 1893-CC. This coin has a regal bearing in our office; clearly, this AMAZING Proof is a high-end GEM! Everything about this coin screams Premium Quality! Boasting ultra deep and brilliantly gleaming mirrored fields that have a strong reflective flash that are clearly that of a Proof and not a PL or DMPL Mint State piece. Rich toning in diffused shades of teal-blue, pale rose, iridescent orange, and a soft olive-russet blend together for a notable and purely original look. The toning pattern is unmistakable helping to trace the provenance of this important coin to the Cornelius Vermeule III Collection. Every detail is deeply and crisply embossed by a strong and forceful blow from the dies, creating exacting definition on both sides, and leaving the the devices with a wonderful frosted effect. A strong glass reveals incredible surface quality; indeed the only contact is a small mark on Liberty’s jawline that again helps match this coin to the Vermeule Collection. The eye appeal is truly SUPERB and seductive, daring the viewer to put this marvel of American numismatics down. This is what is known as a “Class 1” Branch Mint Proof, a coin where there is official mint documentation of the occasion of striking; an honor shared by only the 1879-O, 1883-O, and 1921-S Zerbe. While no one knows for sure how many were struck, the estimate of a dozen goes back to the days of Wayte Raymond, when he theorized these were struck to commemorate the closing of the famed Carson City mint. Over the years, numismatic scholars have expanded on the diagnostics that identify these few 93-CC Branch Mint Proofs, including Wayne Miller who wrote in his 1982, The Morgan and Peace Dollar Textbook, describing one of these Proofs: “Although some cameo contrast is evident especially on reverse, this coin is more brilliant than cameo Proof. The fields are deeply mirrored and the strike is very bold. The piece is an obvious Proof at first glance.” Most known examples were struck from the VAM-2 die pair, whose diagnostics include traces of recutting on the right side of the 3 in the date, some short die cracks that connect six obverse stars on the left and 3 on the right. A key diagnostic is the downward-right tilt of the CC mintmark. The estimated mintage figure of 12 was repeated by Walter Breen, who enumerated four known examples. In the 2001 Stack’s Catalog of the Vermeule Collection, the cataloger enumerated five: Amon Carter; Norweb; Eliasberg (called a “Deep mirror prooflike Gem, Possible Branch Mint Proof); King Farouk; and the Wayne Miller “1972 discovery” coin. Today, the total certified population (includes duplicate submissions, crossovers, etc) list 20 graded between PCGS and NGC in all grades and designations. We know, for a fact, over the years certain coins have been regraded, crossed over and perhaps their owners have yet to return the old inserts, making for a messy Population Report and Census data from the services. While the November 2001 Vermeule catalog does not list a previous pedigree, it is possible that like the FINEST KNOWN 1893-S Morgan dollar that immediately followed this coin, it was obtained directly from the mint, or from the person who did so. In the last decade, there have been four examples graded by PCGS and one NGC coin sold in auction: The Amon Carter coin, sold in our December 2014 auction, graded PCGS PR64 CAC (now a PR65); a PCGS PR64 CAM CAC that sold in August 2011; and this coin, which last sold in the 2012 ANA auction. The Greensboro coin, which was called a Branch Mint “Specimen” struck from a different set of dies (VAM-3, rather than VAM-2), graded SP65 by PCGS sold in the 2013 Central States auction. An NGC PR66 CAM also sold in July 2013. PCGS 2, NGC 3, CAC 2. This is the ONLY PR65+ graded at either service in any designation. As a PR65, this coin realized $218,500 in the 2012 ANA auction, and the current Collector’s Universe value is listed at $245,000. Do not confuse this one with the Amon Carter coin. The only coin graded finer to have ever sold in auction is the NGC PR65 CAM that sold in July 2013 for $323,125 (likely the PCGS PR66 listed on the Population Report). This coin serves as the PCGS CoinFacts Plate Coin. It is indeed our pleasure to offer this important numismatic treasure in our Regency Auction 31. This is a major opportunity for the advanced collector to acquire one of the most historically significant Morgan dollar issues, a coin that has a classic look and great pedigree. The market for high end, rare Morgan dollars is very strong today, and for the advanced collector looking to set their set above the rest, this amazing and high end Branch Mint Proof is a coin that will take your collection to a completely different level! LOT 271 $1 1897 PCGS PR67 CAM CAC FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION This is a “wild child” for an 1897 Cameo. It has a bold deep contrast. We assure you, this coin is that nice! Blinding mirrors beam from both sides. The mirrors really are that deep and flashy. When you twirl the coin, the mirrors have that “liquid rolling mercury” look. The mirrors also have excellent clarity and cleanliness overall. Miss Liberty and the details are thickly frosted in deep iridescent silver and are fully struck. The eye appeal is tremendous! Only 731 were minted. PCGS 7, NGC 12, CAC 2. The last PCGS CAC piece to sell in auction brought $23,500 back in November 2016. The current Collectors Universe is a low $20,000. LOT 272 $1 1903 PCGS PR65 CAC FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION. This is the epitome of what an original, deeply toned Proof Morgan dollar should look like! Flashy, watery reflective mirrors beam all over the fields. Sharply struck devices look like they were carved out by hand! As you rotate the surfaces in a light, rose, orange, violet, azure, and gold gleam with a sparkling brilliance. The colors really do come to life in the light. After 1900 the mint changed its Proof production methods, polishing the entire surface of the dies, rather than protecting the devices which would keep them frosty, imparting a cameo contrast (1901-1904 dollars almost never have contrast). Only 755 Proofs were ever struck. PCGS 32, NGC 40, CAC 4. The most recent PCGS/CAC coin to sell in auction realized $5,581 back in September 2012. That was over half a dozen years ago! LOT 273 GEM MATCHED ORIGINAL 1859 PROOF SET FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION Our sister company Legend Numismatics has handled many sets in their career, this 1859 set is one of the all-time finest they have ever seen (there is a high grade 1859 set in a top collection). This set has such sizzle, it really is on fire! There is no question that this is a matched original GEM set. ALL COINS ARE CAC BEANED 1C PCGS PR66 CAC. WOW! Full deep mirrors beam boldly from all over. The mirrors have great clarity. A few trivial toning dots can be seen only with a strong glass. The color is a deep original copper nickel. This is one of the better 1859 Proofs we have seen. The details are needle sharp and frosty. 3CS PCGS PR66 CAC Technically this coin seems perfect. We used a strong glass and looked everywhere- no problems. The mirrors are above average and are glass-like. Both sides have an even mix of olive/reddish gold/blue colors-same as the other silver coins. If only this coin was not in a Proof set! H10C PCGS PR66 CAC. Super HIGH-END. The mirrors are super deep and clear. Both sides sparkle with original blue/green/purple colors identical to all the other silver pieces. Miss Liberty and the details are all frosted and are sharply struck. 10C PCGS PR66+ CAC. What a SUPER HIGH-END killer piece! The mirrors are ultra-deep and are incredibly clean and sleek. Here too, the colors are identical to all the other coins-blue/ green/pale purple. Every detail is pinpoint sharp in strike. Dime collectors will cry about this coin being in a Proof Set. 25C PCGS PR66 CAC. This magnificent SUPER HIGH-END coin has so much life and flash! For any 1859 coin, the mirrors are as deep and flashy as we have ever seen. The colors are the same iridescent blues/greens/pale purples as the other silver coins on the obverse. The reverse is a white/purple color. The details are razor sharp in strike. All we can say - WOW! 50C PCGS PR65+ CAMEO CAC. A simply incredible SUPER HIGH-END piece. The mirrors are crazy spectacular and beam hard from all over. If you were to twirl the coin, the mirrors are so deep and watery. They are also clear and clean. Every detail is frosted and sharply struck. There is more pale purple than blue in this coin-which does indeed match all the others. $1 PCGS PR65 CAMEO CAC. This coin is one of the very best 1859 $1 you will ever see-even though it is just a PR65. It is NOT dark or drab. Plus, the quality is VERY HIGH-END. The flash of the mirrors is tremendous. The obverse toning is moderate and matches every silver coin. Miss Liberty and the details all boldly stand out with thick frost and full strikes. Legend Rare Coin Auctions is proud to offer this HIGH-END and gorgeous matched original set for sale. A set like this we consider to be the frontier in numismatics. As time goes on fewer sets like this will ever be available as too many are still being broken up. It is our hope a magnificent set like this finds a new home where it can be kept together. Even individually you never see single 1859 coins like these offered. The current Collectors Universe Values add up to be $65,500. PCGS# 2247 | ESTIMATE: $55,000+ 135
LOT 274 GEM, MATCHED, ORIGINAL 1860 PROOF SET FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION This set should be named “the miracle set” as it is a wonder how it even exists today. There is no question this is a GEM Matched original set. 1C PCGS PR65 CAC. Strong mirrors beam boldly all over. The mirrors are clean and have good clarity. Both sides are evenly covered by a moderate layer of original colors. The colors include gold/green/pale violet. This is not a dull or drab coin. Every detail stands out with needle sharp strike. The eye appeal is great! 3CS PCGS PR64+ CAMEO CAC. For a smaller coin, the mirrors have big coin flash! The mirrors have good clarity and are pretty clean. Only using a strong glass can you see some lines and toning dots. The details steal the show with an incredible frosty strike. To find this date in cameo-really rare. H10C PCGS PR66+ CAC. What a darling of a coin. As with all the other coins, this too has incredibly flashy mirrors. We see no reason why it’s not in a PR67 holder (no promises). The colors are the same as the other silver coins, only this coin has a blush of blue. This coin is super pretty. 10C PCGS PR65+ CAC. There really is nothing wrong here except the toning is slightly darker. This is NOT a dull or drab coin as the mirrors powerfully beam from all over. The toning is the same deeper navy/reddish gold/forest green as the other silver coins. Here too every detail is needle sharp in strike. 25C PCGS PR64+ CAMEO CAC. This is a VERY high-end coin. It has a little irregular toning so PCGS was very tough on it. It is the same colors as the other silver coins. No question this piece is a full cameo. The details are sharply struck, and the frost is clearly evident. Very rare coin to find even as a single! 50C PCGS PR66 CAC. The mirrors boldly beam from all over. They are incredibly clean and super clear. We think because the toning is slightly darker PCGS would not grade this coin a PR67 (which technically it is). The colors are the same as the other silver coins. You can tell the sharply struck details all have thick frost. The coin does have good eye appeal. $1 PCGS PR65+ CAC. Strong mirrors blaze though thick and deeper toning (same as on the other coins). You can easily tell this coin has sat undisturbed for many years. The mirrors are clean and smooth. The toning on this piece is slightly more dusky than the others in the center. It’s still a good-looking coin! When is the last time you remember seeing an 1860 Proof set? We only remember one and that was in a huge group that had been bought directly from the Mint and was dispersed almost 20 years ago. Sets like this really are the last frontier of numismatics! LOT 277 MATCHED, ORIGINAL 1894 PROOF SET FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION While the grades of this set are not upper end crazy, the coins certainly are! We think overall PCGS was very tight on how they graded the set-especially the silver coins. 1C PCGS PR64 RB CAC. Good mirrors highlight both sides. They are clear and clean. There is some light contrast. Great coin! $1 PCGS PR64+ CAMEO CAC. What a great coin to anchor the set with! The quality is 64.9. These mirrors blast at you from all over. When you twirl the coin, you see deep rolling “watery” mirrors. The clarity and cleanliness are off the charts. The rim colors (same as the others in the set) make the cameo effect look tremendous. What a beauty! Years ago (about 20) we saw a much higher graded 1894 (PR67-68) set but that sold for nearly $250,000. This is definitely an affordable gorgeous set. LOT 278 MATCHED, ORIGINAL 1900 PROOF SET FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION. We love every coin in this set. No question these were all kept together for quite a long time. Even in NON set form you do not see these coins offered ever as singles. 1C PCGS PR65 RB CAC. AWESOME! Very high-end quality. Deep glittering mirrors beam from all over. The reverse most likely was lying on felt and has darker colors. The colors are a GEM Mint red, pale gold and green on the reverse. There actually is contrast. The eye appeal is jaw dropping! 5C PCGS PR67+ CAM CAC This coin is more than deserving of being tied for FINEST graded. Super deep mirrors beam from all over, with clarity and cleanliness. They also have a light pastel toning all over that you do not have to imagine. Miss Liberty and every detail are fully struck and have thick frosting. If sold on its own, we can see bidders really fighting over this piece. 10C PCGS PR67. CAC must have had a bad day when this coin came though. We see no problems anywhere. The mirrors are deep and flashy. There is some moderate toning spread all over, but this coin is not dull or drab. There also is good contrast. 25C PCGS PR67+ CAM CAC. Awesome deep mirrors are both crystal clear and clean. This coin enjoys the same toning as the other silver pieces, although it is slightly irregular on the obverse. The contrast is bold. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp in strike and have thick frost. The eye appeal is gorgeous! 50C PCGS PR67+ CAM CAC. WOW! This coin clearly ranks a PR67.9+! It is always the biggest and best last. No question this coin belongs in, and is the highlight of the set. This is the FINEST 1900 Cameo Proof graded. The mirrors are just remarkable. They are deep, have bold clarity, and are super clean. We grade this piece a PR67.9+. Even though 1900 coins usually have weak contrast, this beast does not. It also has moderate toning splashed about. What an anchor coin to an already stunning set! LOT 279 MATCHED, ORIGINAL 1907 PROOF SET FROM THE YOUNG-DAKOTA COLLECTION This is a no question matched original set. It’s clear to us every coin was carefully stored for many years; maybe even after it left the Mint. ALL coins are CAC beaned, and in today’s market, you just can’t build a set like this, all CAC anyway. ONLY 575 were minted. 1C PCGS PR66RB CAC. Strong mirrors beam from all over. Of course, the mirrors are clean and have exceptional clarity. Both sides are covered by a mix of pale green/gold/mint red colors. The Indian is frosty and is fully struck. Great eye appeal! 5C PCGS PR66+ CAC. Bold mirrors are very flashy. There are no disturbances anywhere (just a patch of irregular toning). The toning is really light and pastel like-but does match the other colors. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have gentle light frost. Lovely eye appeal! 10C PCGS PR67 CAC. What a tremendous coin! Deep and almost endless mirrors beam from all over. The mirrors are clear and clean. When you twirl them, they have that deep and watery look. The colors are identical to the other silver coins-original pale purple/gold and pale navy. Miss Liberty and the details clearly stand out. This coin is almost fully cameo. Killer eye appeal here! 25C PCGS PR67 CAMEO CAC. Yet another super high-end GEM. Wicked deep mirrors can be boldly seen from all over. The mirrors are clean and clear. The obverse has the same identical colors as the other silver coins-original pale purple/gold. The reverse is full navy as it probably sat on felt. The contrast is bold. Miss Liberty and the details stand out with thick frost and a full strike. Awesome eye appeal! 50C PCGS PR67+ CAC. We looked at this coin many times. We can NOT find why PCGS would not grade it a PR68 (no promises). Flawless and deep mirrors beam boldly from all over. The clarity of the mirrors is amazing. This piece has the identical colors of the other silver coins-original pale purple/gold with a navy gold reverse. The obverse has good contrast. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and do have some frost. The eye appeal and quality are jaw dropping! If this coin were to be sold on its own- a bidding war would erupt! This absolutely is something you sell you duplicates or lesser coins to own. We do not remember ever seeing another 1907 offered in the past decade! We hope the next owner enjoys this set as much as the Young-Dakota collector did. PCGS# 2409 | ESTIMATE: $20,000+ 147

A moderate luster shows off the pretty original shades of golden brown/pale gold colors. There are NO spots or stains. Every detail is fully struck. Please don’t break the set to buy this coin!!!! 10C PCGS PR66+ CAC. Deep and really flashy mirrors beam from all over. Deeper shades of original purple/navy/aqua green swirl allover (on all 3 coins). Miss Liberty and all the details are sharply struck. This is a great 1915 PR 10C! 25C PCGS PR67+ GOLD CAC! Gold CAC means they grade this coin a PR68. We do too. 1000% perfect mirrors beam powerfully from all over. The same moderate purple/navy /aqua green colors the other silver coins have are all over this one too. Miss Liberty and every detail are frosted and fully struck. The eye appeal is phenomenal! 50C PCGS PR67+ CAC. What a final coin to have in a monster Proof set. This coin has stunning flashy and deep mirrors. When you twirl the coin, the mirrors turn totally liquid. A more moderate version of the same original navy/purple/greenish colors the other silver coins have rolls off this one too. It would be a tragedy to break up this set to get at this coin. We have seen other 1915 Proof sets. We unhesitatingly proclaim this one to be the best we have ever seen. PCGS was pretty tough on most of the coins. Regardless, as time goes on, you simply won’t be seeing many more sets like this. If you are looking for something different and with unlimited potential to buy-these matched original Proof Sets are it! PCGS# 3322 | ESTIMATE: $35,000+ 148
