EVENT INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY Yoga is not a religion. It is a science, the science of well-being, youthfulness and the integration of our body, mind and soul. A way of emphasizing life. The connection between our body and mind to nature makes us feel refreshed and invigorated. People perform yoga by balancing the elements of their body and the elements of their mind. Yoga helps us in keeping control of our body and mind. It helps us manage our emotions and is a great channel for releasing our stress and anxiety. So, every year we, as a school, emphasize yoga day on the 21st of June. This year’s goal is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. The students and teachers got ready to commemorate this day. We got to revive and restore our minds on this day. This year, we got our yoga mats and our yoga outfit ready and we were so exhilarated to perform this art. We made our way to the open auditorium and we spread our mats in the auditorium. We began the session by doing a few breathing asanas at first. Then, we continued with the yoga with Pranayama which strengthens the connection between our mind and body. It promotes relaxation and mindfulness. Later, we did a few stretching asanas like Padahastasana which gives us flexibility in our calves and lower back. Followed by Dhanurasana, which strengthens our muscles. All the exercises helped relax our muscles, body and our mind. This helped us align our body and mind with improved concentration on our breathing. We enjoyed our way of mindfulness and stretching and finally got back to our daily routine after a full and nice stretch. I think we are slowly but steadily making our way towards the long-term goal of 'Yoga for Humanity’. - Samyuktha Mandapati, G8 INS Chakra 7

EXPERIENCE FRIENDSHIP DAY Friendship is a selfless bond between two people. Having a friend, whom you can trust with eyes closed, is God's blessing. Friendship is a relationship, wherein both get the same love, care, and priority from each other. At an early age, people meet various members of the public, and they make many friends. But as time flows, there is hardly one or two true friends who stay beside you. A momentous celebration is held at Silver Oaks about the day that is devoted to recognizing and valuing our true friends. Personally, this special day is enjoyable and the classes make the most of it to get to understand one another better. We began the day by conversing with one another on a variety of topics, including our outfits and the games we planned to play. Our respective friend groups made the decision to get together after the weekly exams, games, and hobby classes were finished in order to exchange gifts for Friendship Day. The potluck that took place during the lunch break was one of the main highlights of the entire event. Following a filling meal, our class made the decision to unwind after a demanding week by listening to music. Throughout the eventful day, we tied and gifted friendship bracelets, charms and rings to each other. Some made their gifts at home, including care and happiness into every bracelet that they made, while others hurriedly bought friendship bands the day before, but with a nurtured and kind intention. The bottom line is that this year's Friendship Day gave everyone the chance to appreciate both their old acquaintances and the new friends we have acquired this year. - Sai Srinika Ganga, G8 INS Sindhughosh 8

EVENT 75 YEARS OF SAGA - INDIA At eight-thirty in the morning, all the students were called down to the green meadows and were assembled according to their grade and sections. The students were set into straight lines and the assembly started. In the beginning, a speech was delivered by one of the presidents of the school. After the speech, the flag was hoisted by the President and the Director of the school. During the flag hoisting, the national anthem was played and everyone paid salutations on the seventy-fifth Independence Day of India. Once the salutations were complete, a few students came ahead and gave a speech about how our nation has developed and grown to become a superpower in the world today. The speech took about an hour and after that, there was a dance to cap it all off. The dance was performed to a patriotic song from the recently released movie directed by Mr.Rajmouli, RRR. Once the dance was complete, the students went back to their classes to collect their individual belongings and were ushered to the buses. The buses left at about ten-thirty in the morning. The event ended with a sense of patriotism. - Saatvika Bommi, G8 INS Sindhughosh 9

SILVER OAKS INSPIRING MORNINGS Abhijay Kodali People say that \"every morning should begin w i t h a s m i l e l i k e a m o r n i n g s u n \" . W h e r e a s , the acorns of Silver Oaks think that \"every morning should begin with an inspiration\". Inspiration is a feeling of enthusiasm you get from someone or something, which gives you new and creative ideas. In the month of June, Abhijay Kodali - a spell bee champ who made history in the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee, as he was one of eight spellers to be crowned co-champions, the first time a group had been declared as winners. He gave us an inspirational speech on how to achieve our goals, develop our skills, identify potential obstacles, and always create a positive mindset. He went pretty far for someone who didn't expect to be there. It felt really good to be doing this well. It was very nerve-wracking for him during the competition, but when got over with, was relieved, he said. In fact, watching his older sister compete and excel in spelling bees, is what initially inspired Kodali’s interest in spelling. We can learn from him to be proactive, and positive-minded, to stop procrastinating, and motivate ourselves. He is very hardworking and single-minded in his studies, as he balanced his middle school homework while learning to spell. He put his efforts to achieve his goal and make his dream a reality. Achieving his dream was a lesson for all the acorns about how to focus your acquisition of knowledge, and organize your time and your resources in order to achieve your goals. - V Renudhar, G8 INS Chakra 10

SILVER OAKS ELECTIONS Elections have been a part of Silveroaks for quite a few years. The day of elections was considered as another memorable day for the acorns. The school uses elections as a way to improve civic responsibility and shed light on our understanding of democracy. This year, the acorns were over-excited when the elections were going to be conducted. Some of us gave our names to the election commission. However, only a few were shortlisted according to their leadership qualities and their responsibilities towards the school. Every acorn has the right to choose their representative. The shortlisted candidates campaigned by making wonderful videos and the decision was left on the acorns, to elect the House Prefects, President and the Vice-President of the school. The excitement was on another level. Every acorn was anxiously waiting for their turn to vote. They voted by critically thinking about the right person who has the ability to lead the house or the school. After they voted, the acorns were eagerly waiting for the results. The acorns wish to continue this practice every year as the Student government elections handles the noble responsibilities of working for the welfare of the entire studentry. - Saatvika Bommi, G8 INS Sindhughosh - V Renudhar, G8 INS Chakra 11

SILVER OAKS SESSION WITH KAVITA MA'AM This wasn’t the first time we girls entered the yoga room, but it was an exception as this session was only meant for the 7th and 8th grade girls. It isn’t easy for a girl when she steps into the puberty period. Accepting the changes in their life and body becomes a challenge in the absence of proper guidance. Today, when the girls stepped out of the yoga room their outlook towards themselves had undergone a significant change. Kavita ma’am, like an experienced teacher and a woman, led us to realize how to accept and value ourselves. Menstruation is a biological process which doesn’t undermine us in any way. She made us aware of our strengths. Moreover our schools have good washroom facilities. Our teachers are very considerate and help us with it. Going on Kavitha ma'am made us understand that we must always learn to value ourselves and accept ourselves the way we are. We also got to know where to set our boundaries, whom to share our feelings with, whom to share our secrets with as well as whom to trust. We must never gossip or make linkups. She also shared with us that we should use the internet only for good purposes and not to waste our time using social media apps. Last but not the least we got to know how to face bullies in the real world. This as a whole results in teenage girls' well being. Always believe in yourself and if you ever find yourself bullying, gossipping or creating linkups, think once by putting yourself in the victim’s shoes and wonder how you would feel if someone else does this to you. - Rashmitha Reddy Gorla, G8 INS Shardul 12

SILVER OAKS TALK ON DRUG ABUSE The lecture dates back to the April session 2022. During that time of the year students of Silver Oaks were having half days due to extreme heat in the summer. On one such day, all the students of 8th grade were taken to the A.C Auditorium. No one had a single clue about what was happening. Gradually, everyone settled into their seats and surprisingly they were all ears. A great number of people came up to the stage and shared a bundle of information about drug abuse and how it is affecting society. Quite a number of police officers worded about how they had put their efforts into stopping drug usage. Later on, an impressive presentation was put on by one of the volunteers about how students as individuals can contribute to this particular campaign. Students were incredibly shocked by how teenagers were trapped in drug addiction. Eventually, a tall, well-dressed man hopped onto the stage and spoke about how he overcame the addiction and now is a part of the campaign. By the end of the two-and-a-half-hour lecture, students and teachers had a sizable idea about it. Everyone assumed this lecture was going to be a bore but it ended up being quite the opposite. This talk has motivated and given an opportunity for the students to contribute and help society and fellow citizens get through the hurdle of Drug abuse. - Nischaya P, G8 INS Chakra 13

EVENT INTERFACE As students had returned to school after 2 years, the ISAP wing decided to conduct an interface for the parents. The main objective to conduct this was for parents to come to the child’s class and know more about their peers and teachers. Everyone was elated to see their friends’ parents and were excited to share their experiences. Each student’s parent was given a specific time slot between 9 to 10 AM on the days 22nd to 27th of June. It was also difficult for the parents since they had to go to offices or work from home on weekdays and had a lot to juggle. When the parents arrived, their respective child introduced them to all of the classmates. After the introductions, the child took the parent around the classroom and showed the overviews and some important posters. Some of the students took the responsibility to talk about the brain breaks, the 6Q’s - Intelligence Quotient, Emotional Quotient, Physical Quotient, Value Quotient, Happiness Quotient, Social Quotient, SOLS (Self Organizing Learning System) and this year’s school motto, GOOD TO GREAT. The parents additionally asked us to share our experience of online school and shifting to offline. They posed some questions for us as well. The interface was enriching as few of the parents advised us about our goals, our attitude towards life, success and failure, about our future and told us how to choose the right career. Later, the parents wrote their feedback in the form of 2 stars and 1 wish on a piece of colored envelope. Some parents had written their 2 stars as stress on Personality Development and extra curricular activities. We felt that this is a good and beneficial initiative since our parents can be updated on all the happenings and know the curriculum of the school. We believe that this interface should be conducted often for the smooth understanding between the teachers and parents. - Nischal Suhas & Abhiram Yalla, G8 INS Shivalik 14

EVENT TEACHERS DAY Teaching is the candle that could light my mind. Teacher’s day is a very special occasion and a memorable day for everyone, especially for students and teachers. The 5th of September is annually celebrated as Teachers' day in India. Teachers work hard throughout the year to nurture students well. In the lives of teachers, students always come first. Different schools celebrate Teacher’s day in different ways. In Silver Oaks International school, the acorns take teacher’s day as an expression of gratitude towards their true guide and well- wishers. Unlike every day, they didn’t have any studies, rather were full of celebrations and enjoyment. All the students arranged materials to give classrooms a look at a teacher’s day. They decorated the classrooms like a festival. Different activities were organised in different classes. In a few classes, students presented a short act where they teach a class by mimicking their teachers. On the other hand, a few students sang songs and gave flawless speeches to thank their teachers. Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges. Students understand the value of teachers and their hard work. It is one of the ways they pay respect to their teachers. They are like a candle that consumes itself to light the ways for others. The acorns of Silver oaks believe that ‘teachers always lead us to the right path and inspire us to be better human beings.’ Teacher’s day gives a great time to strengthen the student- teacher bond. Teachers are one of the first role models and mentors that students have in their lives. - V Renudhar, G8 INS Chakra 15

EXPERIENCE WE HUB: GIRLS IN STE(A)M A few girls from grade 8 to grade 12 were asked to assemble in the lobby. The science coordinators briefed up on the 8 day course called STE(A)M and students can voluntarily participate in the program. The first day, we got divided into groups. The groups had one person from each school, so that we could interact with each other and exchange ideas. The second class, they taught us about 3D printing and its types. After the second session, the Education Minister, Mr. KTR visited WeHub and a few of us got the opportunity to talk to him. The next session, we were introduced to Tinkercad, an online website where we can design 3D models. We were regrouped to plan the ideas to make teenagers workout. The other school students also had mind blowing ideas and we were glad to meet them. This was an amazing opportunity and all the students of WeHub were looking forward for the upcoming sessions. - Saatvika Bommi, G8 INS Sindhughosh 16

SILVER OAKS STREET STORE “It is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving’’. No matter what we give or how much we give to the people who come to the street store, they accept it gratefully. The look on the people’s faces when they come to the school and collect the items is priceless. They might be picky and a tad hard to deal with but when you really think about it shows how desperate they are to get their hands on the clothes that aren’t even brand new, seeing that makes your heart feel warm. The students, teachers, and other staff were involved in helping with the arrangements. We gave our names for volunteering a few days beforehand. On the day of the event, all the students came to school with great spirit and so did I. We went to collect our customized t-shirts just for the day. We wore them and took some selfies. Later on, we all were assigned as per the age and gender wise stations and I was assigned to the children’s section. I was a little surprised to see humongous clothes. At 9:30 am, the gates were opened and the crowd came rushing in. I was joyful to see those many people. We started passing the clothes around. 17

We were extra cautious since many people were coming and also it was flu season so, to protect ourselves, we wore our masks and gloves. By 10:40am most of the clothes were taken already. As we were a bit tired volunteering, to boost our energy, we were given snacks and juice. Since most of the work was done, we, along with our teachers, headed towards the bus. Except for the NCC cadets and a few other teachers. We reached home before noon. Before going to the street store, I was really doubtful and was wondering if it was worth it to lose my Sunday sleep, but after experiencing it, I was glad I came. I had an amazing experience and also it made me feel joyful when I saw all the kids and their parents coming to the street store.’’Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference. - Dedeepya Bendi, G8 INS Arihant 18

EXPERIENCE FIELD TRIPS There are a great deal of monuments in Hyderabad that reflect the diverse culture and the historic background of the city. Most of the monuments are renowned for their splendid architecture and a lot of it is located in the older sections of the city. Built in the Quli Qutb Shah dynasty, these monuments are all the standing examples of its royal past. The elegant architecture of these marvellous monuments, speak volumes about the different dynasties they were built in and are an absolute delight to visit. They exude the incredible architectural knowledge and the culture of the royals. A gigantic square edifice, the Charminar is considered Hyderabad's Taj Mahal. The structure is built according to the Indo- Islamic style of architecture and was built by Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah. Each of the four grand minarets are standing examples of regal antiquity. It is not amongst the seven wonders of the world but it is an important and beautiful construction in the diverse history of India. Built in the 18th Century, Chowmahalla Palace is a splendid monument which housed the Asaf Jahi Dynasty and the Nizams of Hyderabad. It was built to replicate the Shah's palaces in Iran. The sprawling courtyards and the marvellous architecture is a feast to the eye. 19

One of the strongest forts in India, the Golconda Fort has majestic mammoth gateways. It has the world-famous diamond mine and was once the home of the Kohinoor Diamond. It is said that diamond merchants once sat in the courtyards of this very fort and would barter gems with other traders and buyers. Visiting these monuments is a reliving experience where people can learn the changes in society over a period of time and the reasons that led to the development of communities and traditions. - Dhruv Kaniyath, G8 INS Saryu 20

EVENT DIWALI CELEBRATIONS Diwali was celebrated with utmost joy and happiness at our Silver Oaks. This festival has taught us the importance of light in our lives as we understand and study the deep meaning of Diwali. This season, we were asked to bring marigold flowers and dusting articles to clean our classrooms. Through this activity, all of us noticed that cleaning our own mess was a tough row to hoe. We realised that if cleaning our mess for one day was so hard, how hard would it be to clean everyday. We cleaned our classrooms and decorated them with colourful rangolis and diyas. The following day, all of us were dressed in traditional dresses with broad smiles on our faces. We shared light and happiness with each other. There were no bounds to our spirit as we went to show our gratitude for the people who clean our classrooms everyday to make sure we learn new things in a clean atmosphere. Soon after, all of us went to the green meadows to be surprised by a tribal band named Oggudolu. The music the band played and the way they danced to it made me have goosebumps. The music was heavenly and brought positive vibes around the school. Eventually, we returned to our classes and spent time with our friends and teachers while having lunch. We played music and danced for it till our legs barked. By the end of the day, all of us came out learning something new from the past few days and had the time of our lives. - Nischaya P, G8 INS Chakra 21

EXPERIENCE GANDHI MOVIE On the occasion of the 76th Independence Day, The Government of Telangana had initiated free screenings of the movie Gandhi for students to infuse a sense of patriotism in young minds. The excitement surrounding the field trip was inevitable, considering that the bus ride to and from the theatre was sure to be filled with laughter and enjoyment. The morning of 16th August in Silver Oaks was filled with 8th graders expressing their enthusiasm about the movie. Though there were a few complications while allotting buses for the students, in the end, everything went smoothly. After a few rifts and scuffles about the window seats, everyone was seated. Even though the bus didn’t enter the main road yet, students started pulling out a variety of snacks and drinks. The bus rides were just as fun and interesting as the acorns remembered them to be. After reaching the movie theatre, everyone quickly filed into their seats. After a few minutes, the movie theatre went dark and the voice of Gandhi filled the theatre. The movie was informative both in terms of wisdom and history. As the movie was coming to an end, everyone gathered all our things and headed back to the buses. The students shared their perspectives about the Gandhi movie and how it was interesting to see an old movie in the midst of modern day VFX and special effects. The buses rolled to a stop at the school. The students wrote their reflections and discussed their opinion on the Gandhi movie with their teacher and peers. All in all, this field trip was truly an eye- opening experience and the movie definitely transported the students back to British colonised India. - Sai Srinika Ganga, G8 INS Sindhughosh 22

SILVER OAKS COINS FOR THE COUNTRY We are reminded of coins for the country when we say \"me and my country we grow together.\" Coins for the country is celebrated in Silver Oaks like a festival. It is an initiative that encourages kids to work hard and save money so they may donate it to others in need. Each student receives money from their parents and saves it before bringing it to school in an earthen pot. They accumulate this cash over the course of an academic year and bring it to the school when requested. The fact that every pot was so colourful demonstrates the potters' creativity. With eager faces, the students slowly shattered the pots to reveal how much they had contributed to coins for the country. Each student made a significant contribution. Our school held a grand function on February 2nd to exhibit how much money the students had made and to donate the funds to NICE and the Rural Development Foundation. Twenty lakh rupees were earned by our school. The money to be shared between the RDF and NICE has been split. The RDF students thanked our institution for assisting them in obtaining a higher education in heartfelt remarks. Our school gave the RDF foundation thirteen lakh rupees and the NICE seven lakh rupees in donations. The acorns did a great job by diligently working for money in order to donate to individuals who needed funds for higher education. Everybody will always love Coins for the country as a festival, and those who are pursuing higher education because of the money they received will especially hold it dear. Through this small contribution, we are improving our generation and ensuring that everyone may have a comfortable lifestyle in addition to gaining better education. - Ramalakshmi Charitha S, G8 INS Sindhughosh 23

SPORTS SPORTS FEST The sports school day is an important day on the calendar. It’s a day when the students are freed from their classrooms, freed from their fetters of learning. It is a day for red faces and perspiration wet t-shirts and shorter shots are the order of the day. We have waited for this time of the year for so long. We were all very excited about the sports fest from the starting of the year. There were participants and non-participants who came to cheer up the ones who were ready to play. The sports fest finally started. The captains of the houses were ready to see their housemates run for the victory. The school faculty conducted many sports including volleyball, throwball, cricket, running, basketball, and many more. All the participants were fired to face their opponents and they did with all their courage and tenacity. Few of the people won, but that doesn't the others lost. The others did their best to win. They all were very enthusiastic about it and didn’t lose courage just because they lost. Everyone were very hyped up about it for a whole three days. We all enjoyed the togetherness of our school and were very proud of it. This day at school speaks for the commitment that all in the school hold for sports and what a great thing sport is on so many levels. Beyond the obvious health and activity benefits, sports can teach us much about life. It’s all about trust and responsibility and about dealing with success and failure. - Mandapati Samyuktha, G8 INS Chakra 24

EVENT To start off, I was ecstatic when the school announced about the pet show. I was hoping to see some extraordinary pets. It was finally the day after almost a week of sheer anticipation. I had an adrenaline rush as I stepped down to the Green Meadows to see a plethora of pets. I saw a lot of amazing animals, fluffy ones, calm and even boisterous ones! I felt it was a perfect day to have a pet show. The sky was clear as glass, as the sunlit clouds drifted away. Although it individually would make a perfect day for a nephophilia like me, the pets made it an unforgettable day. All-in-all the long-awaited pet show has come, at least what I had been waiting for since the last one that was held in 2019. Although everyone was asked to sit and view the various pet owners talking about their pets, we sneaked to the other side of the meadows to fondle the pets. “Only pet owners allowed on the green meadows” bellowed Imran sir. We couldn't resist though. At least, I couldn’t, until the supervisor became austere. 25

I took a glance around and saw Casper, my friend’s dog! I decided to play with it until Seetha Murthy ma’am was done with her welcome speech. I headed over there to find Casper in a cranky mood. He seemed irritated by the crowd and the commotion. I decided to get back once it was calm. On my way to my classmates, I dashed into a girl with a beautiful Jellyfish. I was mesmerized by its beauty. Its colors were just so bright for my eyes to comprehend. The pet, the pet's jar, and the pet owner, everything was just so cute. I was hit by a wave of nostalgia. The memories of me carrying around my pet fish in a cute little jar were still vivid. I enjoyed watching the rest of the pet show with my mates. I will never forget that wonderful day. As a pet lover, I’d say the amount of happiness to see all the pets run around mixed with a good amount of jealousy. Ouch! I have always enjoyed animals. Some children have been able to persuade their parents to get pets, while others have not. Unfortunately, I have never been able to convince my parents to buy a pet. However, the joy and happiness to see all the happy pets and their pet owners was a sight of pleasure. This was the SilverOaks Pet Show. - Chaitrasree Thota, G8 INS Shivalik 26

EVENT SHOWTIME (ANNUAL OPERA) The day, the acorns of the ISAP Wing had been waiting for, finally arrived on January 29th. It was the \"Annual Opera\" day. All the students had been vigorously preparing for this moment, and their time to shine had come. This year, the theme was ' Whose India is this'. The students joyfully entered the classrooms at the beginning of the day carrying costumes and props, and many could see the stage and the giant screen at its rear, which was visible to many and decorated with numerous light fixtures. There was no issue that day because the itinerary for the entire day had been provided the day before. They shortly received a call outside to rehearse all the Opera dances in order and flawlessly executed each of their dialogues and dance steps. Afterwards, they returned to their classes to rest and have a good meal before the big moment. At around two o'clock, the excited performers began getting ready and putting on their costumes. The parents started arriving soon after they finished, which was an unexpected surprise as they were quite early. It was lovely to see how excited they were about the show! 27

Everyone soon moved to the auditorium to wait patiently for the show to start. Slowly, one by one each of the groups moved outside. After impactful speeches given by the Director of Education; Seetha Murthy ma'am, the Opera started. All of the groups went one after another, and displayed their dancing skills and conveyed the main message of the Opera simultaneously. There were eleven groups coordinating together in total. After all of the students had danced, the faculty surprised everyone with a performance of their own! Everyone left with a feeling of immense patriotism and happiness, with many comments of appreciation being passed on to the performers and teachers. This Opera was truly a one to remember. - Ashrita Somanchi, G8 INS Magar 28

EVENT IC3 DANCE It's not been long since my friends and I swayed our feet on the honorable stage of the IC3 conference. To the extent, I’m able to remember a bunch of girls who auditioned including me and most of us paved our way into the group. We were informed that IC3 is an annual conference, and its objective is to showcase multiple career choices to aspiring young minds. Our practice started in the month of September. We as a group of 35, put our blood, sweat, and tears into practice. Sometimes, we rehearsed for 2-3 hours, and the other days we practiced for the entire day. Time flew by, and the day of the performance finally arrived. Confidence was the only thing visible in our eyes, as we walked out of the auditorium after our last practice. We spent hours and hours; making ourselves look perfect to the fault. Click! Click! The camera goes as we take millions of pictures. Around 12 noon, we boarded our buses and made our way to Novotel. Eventually, we arrived and started munching on the snacks that were served. Ultimately, we were called to perform and our hands were shivering. Till day the applause of the audience echoes in my mind. Our teachers stated that we were good. At the moment, my team and I just want to turn back the hands of time and relive the practice and the performance. This experience will always hold a special place in my memories. - Nischaya P, G8 INS Chakra 30

EVENT DUSSEHRA CELEBRATIONS The day my friends and I have been waiting for two whole weeks has finally arrived!!! My favorite time of the year, sweets, firecrackers, family, friends, all these are the thoughts that cross my mind when the word ‘RAMLEELA’ travels through my ears. Celebrations of Ramleela in our school are extravagant. We shine in our traditional dresses, share sweets and dance till our legs bark! And most importantly we burn our bad habits and freeze our good habits. This year, we were down in the dumps when our teachers announced it was going to be a half day but on the bright side, we could celebrate this festival with our teachers and friends. On the day of the celebrations, I was taking all the time in the world to get ready. Eventually, I boarded my bus and reached school. I painted a smile on my face when I saw how colorful our school looked. Everyone was chattering and blabbering about how badly they’d been waiting for this day. I entered my class and noticed that my friends had already started feasting on the sweets. Gradually, we made our way to the green meadows and one by one burned our bad habits. I made a promise to myself saying that I’ll freeze my good habits in time and will never let the bad habits repeat. Soon, music started playing and all of us danced our lives off! Incredibly exhausted, we went back to our classrooms. We gobbled down the tasty sweets and chatted for a bit and without us noticing the celebrations came to an end. Before waving goodbye to my teacher and friends, all of us held our hands and said that at the end of every laugh, we’ll pause and relive the memory when the time comes. Ultimately, we had a blast on Ramleela like we do every year. - Nischaya P, G8 INS Chakra 31

EVENT LIBRARY - AUTHOR OF THE MONTH “Library is the foundation of our culture, not luxuries”. The library is considered to be the heart of Silver Oaks school because the acorns expand their minds, shape their dreams and enrich their lives by reading several books. Every acorn gets a chance to pick their favourite book and spend their time reading them at least once a week. The acorns are benefited by practicing reading and improving literacy skills, focus, empathy, and communication skills. This year, they enjoyed reading books because a list of activities was arranged by the Library teachers to provide enthusiasm for them. The acorns found researching about the authors - RK Narayan and Roald Dahl as the most interesting activity. Firstly, they read books such as Malgudi Days, Vendor of sweets and The Darkroom written by R.K Narayana, and also Matilda and Charlie - The Great class written by Roald Dahl. Later, they were asked to find information such as their native place, their record of achievements, famous books, Nobel prizes, etc. These were the authors of each month. This activity was an inquiry where they implemented the knowledge they gained through different graphic organizers. By reading a variety of books in the library, they learn to make sense not only of the world around them but also of people, building social-emotional skills and imagination. The activities planned by the teacher are so helpful for the acorns as it supplies them with the ability to counteract feelings such as hopelessness and stress. - V Renudhar, G8 INS Chakra 32

EXPERIENCE BIOTECTOR We were the young innovators to come up with extraordinary products which can help many farmers. The idea popped up in our minds after thinking about the farmers who were victims of many diseases because they were exposed to the fertilizers. In Avinya Fest ‘22, we presented the cardboard prototype of our model. This was our first step to getting this model into existence. In Avinya Fest which was held at T-hub, we were recognized with 1st prize in the innovation department. Next, we went together to the CBSE regional level science exhibition which was held at CHIREC International School Hyderabad. There we were selected for the second round which was the last but not one step to getting to the national level, but because of the many other best projects we were out of the exhibition. But we got to know how to explain to others about our product as we explained about the Biotector to not only the judges but even our fellow students from different schools like Gandhi School and CHIREC International school. - VV Sai Santosh Reddy, G8 INS Sindhughosh 33

EVENT CHRISTMAS DAY Christmas is one of the favourite days of the acorns of Silver Oaks as the acorns celebrate it with pleasure and spread enjoyment all around. Christmas isn't just a day, it's a frame of mind. The acorns believe that “Peace on earth will come to stay when we live Christmas every day. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Last year in 2022 we had Christmas celebrations in our school. Everyone was very excited. All the students from the JUNIOR wing and ISAP wing gathered in the AC auditorium for the Christmas celebrations. The celebrations began with a duo group speaking about how did Christmas start and why we celebrate Christmas. Christmas is a yearly celebration marking Jesus Christ's birth on December 25. Afterward, it continued with a group of girls dancing to songs related to Christmas. The dance was amazing and glorious. The celebrations continued with the choir group of Silver Oaks singing songs related to Jesus Christ and they also sang a song in Malayalam related to Christmas. The songs and their voices were very melodious. The acorns enjoyed the Christmas celebrations and were expecting it to be held again next year. Everyone celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ with great faith and joy. They distributed gifts on this occasion to spread happiness. Christmas is, indeed, a magical festival that is all about sharing joy and happiness. - Chamanthi, G8 INS Arihant 34

MATHEMATICS MATH DAY I was very delighted to know that Math Day was being celebrated once again in our school. On this day, the legendary mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan is revered for his exceptional contributions to the field of mathematics. We were elucidated about the 2 competitions that were going to be held on the Math day. I was excited to participate in them. The onset of celebrations began with the Arya Bhatta maths competition. I’m not sure what I expected, but it was an incredibly awful experience. I botched up the test paper. It was way more challenging than I expected. Nevertheless, 2 of my classmates managed to ace the test without any difficulties. Although I regretted not being well-prepared for the test, I decided to move on. I still had hopes for the other contest, “Math Castles.” I was distracted by schoolwork and realized I hadn’t started my project until 2 days before the due date. I was anxious about how my model would turn out. It took me more time than I predicted to choose my model, scale it down, and do all the mathematical calculations necessary, and the most effortful part is making my model. After burning the midnight oil, I managed to make my model for the monument, Chichen Itza. I wasn’t confident enough about my model so I didn’t get my hopes up about winning the prize. In the preliminary round, all the participants were asked to showcase our models along with our calculations. I triumphantly moved on to the next and final round. In this round, each one of us had to explain our project briefly. I gave my best shot and then, it was up to the judges to choose the worthy one. 35

It was an incredible and amusing experience to participate in both competitions even though it was not as easy as said. On Math Day, the day began with a welcome dance and a few speeches on the importance of Mathematics followed by the felicitation of the awards. With flying colours, I won the runner-up position for my model! - Chaitrasree, G8 INS Shivalik 36

MATHEMATICS DISCRETE MATH CLASS BY SATYA SIR Mathematics is the most beautiful and powerful creation of the human spirit. It provides an effective way of building mental discipline and encourages logical reasoning and mental rigor. The 8th-grade students got an opportunity to attend a Maths class held by Satya Sir. He made them dive into the ocean of Discrete Mathematics. Basically, discrete Mathematics deals with the study of Mathematical structures. It deals with objects that can have distinct separate values. It also plays a significant role in big data analytics. Some examples that use concepts such as Graph theory are Google Maps. Mr Satyanarayan (Senior lecturer) taught us discrete mathematics in such an enthusiastic way that we felt that understanding mathematical concepts is a piece of cake. He was ready to complete our 9th-grade syllabus but he cannot cancel the plans for the academic year. Though he is very strict in terms of following rules, he has a heart of gold. The class was so interesting and fascinating that we had a clear understanding of what discrete mathematics is, where it is used, and how it is important in our daily life. Mr.Satya sir taught us with the help of many examples even if any single person is not able to understand the concept. He always gives us enough time to \"THINK without INK\". We felt that \"he is a miracle.\" He can be a person who is responsible for many students' love for Maths because only he could replace all the fear with confidence in the subject and he has the ability to prove the most obvious thing in the least obvious way. - V Renudhar, G8 INS Chakra 37

SILVER OAKS SOCIAL INITIATIVES Our initiative, our thinking, and our creativity; these are all the characteristics our teachers have built in us. These qualities lead us to take the initiative and contribute to society. This initiative was put into action by some of the students of VIII INS Vikramaditya who have taken the opportunity to collect and recycle newspapers from all classes in V, VI, VII, VIII, IX and X and donate the money to the RDF (Ruler Development Foundation) organisation. Karthikeyan, Yashashri, Maanya and Amith took the leadership role and helped in collecting, organising and folding the newspapers. It was an exciting and fun experience as we got to connect with our juniors and seniors while also understanding their opinion on our humble project. We discussed the reason behind this initiative and how it will positively impact society. This initiative not only helped those in need but also aided in recycling paper that would have otherwise ended up in the trash. This initiative ensured the Silver Oaks acorns understand the importance of thinking creatively and innovatively. We look forward to another year of innovative and fun approaches which can help us give back to the community. We would also like to thank our teachers for supporting us in this initiative and guiding us in the right direction. - Midhilesh, G8 INS Vikramaditya 38

EVENT NOVEL FEST I do believe something magical can happen when you read a good book. The ISAP wing proved it possible a couple of months ago. We have read an amazing novel known as “A boy in the striped pajamas “. This novel talks about a boy who was an incredible explorer and his curiosity didn’t have boundaries until he found out the truth. This novel gave a great experience about a journey of a boy along with his friend. The novel caught our eyes and we decided to conduct a novel fest. We prepared skits, posters, poems, and many engrossing things. We acorns have prepared all these along with our friends to present our learning to others. We have done skits in every class and also got an opportunity to showcase our learning through poster- making in front of the ISAP wing. Everyone was captivated by our creativity and the story of the book. All the students and teachers liked our performances and appreciated us. It was a really memorable day as we got to illustrate our artistry very well. Maybe this is why we read, and why in moments of darkness we return to books, to find words for what we already know. The fascinating thing about books is that they let you travel without moving your feet. - Samyuktha Mandapati, G8 INS Chakra 39

SILVER OAKS PROJECT GRADUATION I always felt that we, as students, needed an outlet to express our understanding of what we learned in the year instead of just writing exams. When I came to Silver Oaks I was beyond ecstatic when I found out about project graduation in which we could make a website to creatively express our understanding without the fear of limitations. I had made presentations and documents before, but making a website was new to me. As I was reflecting back on the knowledge I gained this year, I realized that I had the knowledge inside my head but I couldn't seem to convey it right in the right way. So I had to think of adequate real examples to put on my website. This also gave me a deeper and long-lasting understanding of what I already knew. BRAINFEED Himalayas In Threat Y Prerana G8 INS Vikramaditya Brainfeed Magazine recently hosted a campaign called \"Write A Page A Day\". This campaign helped us hone our writing skills and also allowed us to make our writing skills known at a higher level. The articles we submitted got published in the Brainfeed website under the \"News\" Category. This was a huge opportunity for all of us! Climate change is not only subject to countries that produce mass amounts of fossil fuels and other emissions that deplete the ozone layer, but also countries that heavily rely on natural resources for livelihood. The planet is in the middle of an ongoing climate crisis due to the effects of Climate change. Amidst the rising heat and greenhouse gas emissions, a problem arises in the peaks and valleys of the Hindu Kush Himalaya mountain ranges, which are some of the most inaccessible, remote regions in the world. They have been hit by climate change. Across the high mountains that stretch from Afghanistan in the west to Myanmar in the east, temperatures have risen by nearly two degrees Fahrenheit since the beginning of the century. As a result, glaciers are dissolving, permafrost is melting, and weather patterns are becoming more eccentric, hampering previously reliable water sources for many and inducing more natural disasters. 42

BRAINFEED The Craziest Week of my Life V Renudhar G8 INS Chakra Everyone has had at some point a week in their life that is considered to be a crazy week. Weeks filled with joy, stress, and excitement are what we thrive off. The craziest week of my life occurred when I got selected for two interclass competitions consequently. The intraclass “word craft” and “speaker @ silveroaks” competitions were held on the 5th and 12th of December. The topic provided for wordcraft was about our previous field trip – Golconda fort. Everyone wrote a wonderful description regarding the trip and gave more expression to their writing. My aim was to put down on the paper what I felt and what I saw in the best and simplest way. A day later, our teacher gave us a topic to prepare and speak about “Sustainable cities and communities”. All the other students gave an exemplary speech. The matter they spoke about was concise and interesting. As my turn was approaching, I felt sweet beads breaking out of my forehead. Although I prepared well, I couldn’t help feeling nervous. I started speaking and got so engrossed in my speech. After concluding the topic, I didn’t think I stood a chance of winning. At the end of the hour, our teacher announced the results regarding both the competitions. It was such a shocking moment that my name led the list of the selected students for interclass competition! I was so overjoyed that my joy knew no bounds, I was so proud of myself to kill two birds with one stone. Few moments later, a thought approached my mind to start preparing for the interclass competition so that I could perform so well and earn a good reputation. Today’s preparation determines tomorrow’s achievement. 43

BRAINFEED Unexpected Events Sai Srinika Ganga G8 INS Sindhughosh A week that starts with a bitter pill is not likely to end well. The medication I had taken for my cold was just as bitter and sour as I remembered. Nevertheless, the exhaustion that overtook my body quickly distracted me from the sour medicine. Using the last of my energy, I forced myself to study for the upcoming Telugu test and Speaker@Silver Oaks. While I was perfecting my speech, the clock struck nine and my impending sleep schedule sprung into action forcing me to sleep. Though I did not get anything done on Monday, I had high hopes for Tuesday. But, they all came crashing down when I overslept and missed the school bus. But, this turned out to be the least of my worries when I received news about the immense workload that was given to us in school. The bottom line is that Tuesday went from being a break day to a cram session. After the stressful events of Tuesday, Wednesday turned out to be a carefree day with plenty of rifts between my classmates regarding Opera. Due to time constraints, planning for Opera caused me to work during my lunch break and recess periods. The rest of the days were a blur of school, tuition, and studying with all these activities creating a monotonous routine I wasn’t able to break. All in all, this week was equally parts stressful and intriguing. Every week that passes by is different but every week has something new to offer through experiences, conversations, and learning. 44

BRAINFEED A Wonderfully Hectic Week Ashrita Somanchi G8 INS Magar Although most people dislike Mondays, it is my favourite day of the week. Mondays symbolise the beginning of the week and leave lots of room for possibility and excitement. I started off this week with feelings of anticipation, excitement and a little bit of anxiousness. I had spent my entire weekend simultaneously practising my ‘Telugu Weekly Test’ syllabus and working on my ‘Maths Model’. This Monday, I had my Telugu exam. Although I had prepared well, I couldn’t help but be worried about whether I had practised enough and whether I would write the test well. Then, I had reminded myself of the hard-work I had put into practising and tried my best whilst writing my assessment. When the results came, I was relieved to find out that I had done fairly well. Throughout the rest of the week, I added the finishing touches to my model and displayed the mathematical reasoning on a poster. I had to even pull an ‘all-nighter’ once, but it was completely worth it as I had learnt the importance of my structure (The Leaning Tower of Pisa) and new maths concepts that I could connect to it! I submitted my model on Wednesday; feeling very proud. 45

On the same day, I had my French formative assessment. I didn’t prepare much for this as I had to work on my maths model, and as a result, I became worried about my results again. After talking to my teacher about my feelings, I was reassured that it would be easy and felt more confident. I was ecstatic when I found out I had gotten one hundred percent! Thursday happened to be the calmest day of the week for me. I was extremely grateful as this gave me the opportunity to not only catch up on my incompletes, but also worked on the grade eight ‘opera’ script, and most importantly; pack for my upcoming trek to Lonavala which I was very excited about! I have to say that even though this week was more hectic than I had expected it to be, I’m glad it was frenzied as this allowed me to complete many of my pending assignments and tasks as well as improve my self-management and time- management skills immensely. 46

BRAINFEED METAVERSE Kappera Sreesha Reddy G8 INS Viraat A metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social connection. In futurism and science fiction, the term is often described as a hypothetical iteration of the Internet as a virtual world facilitated by using virtual and augmented reality headsets. In simple words, the metaverse can be defined as a simulated digital environment that uses augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), blockchain, and social media concepts to create spaces for rich user interaction, mimicking the real world. The word “metaverse” derives from two words- Meta and universe. Meta is an ancient Greek prefix that means “after” or “beyond”. Even though the metaverse is greatly inspired by the internet, it is an overall much better experience than the internet. You can be online without necessarily interacting with other people when on the internet, but the foundation of the metaverse is about digital human interaction. It’s about people sharing a virtual universe, be it for work, school, exercise, or simply for fun. The metaverse helps in closing the perceived gaps between digital and physical realities. Virtual versions of people, objects, and landscapes will allow humanity to explore brand-new environments and make experiences more accessible to everyone. The metaverse is a massively scaled and interoperable network of real-time rendered 3D virtual worlds that can be experienced synchronously and persistently by an unlimited number of users with an individual sense of presence and with continuity of data, such as identity, history, entitlements, objects, etc. 47

The metaverse could potentially use existing data and develop advanced technology to immerse users in an alternate world. This is going to be helpful to humanity at an unimaginable level, in aspects such as social networks, entertainment, gaming, exercise, education, communication, commerce, etc. But this doesn’t come without its disadvantages. It might generate addiction, and could separate you from the real world, but this also means that you get to have a world without limitation. If you can keep yourself in control, the metaverse will not negatively affect your life. The metaverse will also help with the economic sector. It will allow businesses from different physical locations to participate in a singular market economy, without trade barriers. Businesses will be able to trade freely without geographic constraints. In the beginning, the launch of the metaverse was extremely triumphant. All eyes were on this new phenomenon and it seemed like there were many scopes for the Metaverse to thrive. But recently, Meta reported a $2.81 billion quarterly loss on its metaverse business. Year to date, Meta has lost nearly $6 billion. Just this past week, Meta’s CEO and co-founder, Mark Zuckerburg was zinged for investing over $10 billion into the metaverse, only for disappointing graphics. It was perhaps the overhyped expectations that left the public severely underwhelmed. This could also be the reason experts claim that the metaverse is bound to vanish sooner or after. But the main point that these “experts” are missing is that the goal of creating a metaverse isn’t about generating neon graphics, but rather high-quality digital experiences of all shapes and sizes. Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, defines the ideal iteration of the metaverse as “the internet in 3D” and theories that the experience will define user perception and adoption. So, is the metaverse a success or a failure? The metaverse has just recently had its debut and deserves more time, growth, and recognition before being labeled as a “failure” or “success”. 48

BRAINFEED STUDENT GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS Adavelli Chaitra Reddy G8 INS Viraat Votes are very precious, only 1 vote can define the difference between the elected leader and the opposition. The ballot is stronger than the bullet.” On the election day in the school, when every student first entered the class, they greeted their teacher. The teacher gave them a few announcements about the election that is being held. After that, one by one, each class was called down to the lobby of the leadership block. In the lobby were 4 voting booths, each securely guarded by a paper box. Inside the booth, there was a tablet kept, through which a google form was provided. They first voted for their President and Vice-president. After that, they selected their house after which they started electing their house captain and vice-captain, followed by the prefect of their grade level. After they finished, their facilitator put a mark on their fingers to indicate that they had voted. They then went back to their class and waited for the others to come back. Once everyone was back, they resumed their classes. 49
