FROM ASIA, WITH LOVE Rugmini ( ixora coccinea): Related to the gardenia and coffee plants, Ixora is said to be native to Asia and whose name derives from an Indian deity. There are about 400 species spread from Africa to India to Southern Asia. Ixora flowers last well when picked and put into a vase with water, making an attractive home arrangement. THE GREEN HORIZON Griselinia littoralis is a quick-growing, evergreen shrub with fresh apple-green leaves. It is an excellent hedging plant that forms a neat and tidy hedge. It can also be used near the sea as Griselinia littoralis is tolerant of coastal exposure. 60
