विद्यालय पविका VIDYALAYA PATRIKA 2021-22 के न्द्रीय विद्यालय क्ंर. 2 नौसेनाबाग KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA NO. 2 NAUSENABAUGH

The Problem of Pollution Cities, in general, have a great deal in common with vehicles. In fact they often seem to be turning into vehicles. India’s population and its traffic is concentrated within its cities. The increasing number of vehicles in Delhi is putting our city at the risk of completely losing clean air to breathe. Delhi would have, in fact, been buried under a pollution load if the Supreme Court had not intervened to introduce cleaner fuels and emissions technology in the city, in the form of CNG-run public vehicles. Moreover, increase in the number of vehicles also means getting stuck in rush traffic hour which has also become a routine. It is high time we now look towards solving this problem of heavy traffic congestion which is taking a toll both on our health and our time. The traffic police department must use technology for controlling and monitoring the movement of vehicles at important and busy crossroads for which the department officials can also take the help of Close Circuit T.V. Drives should be launched to educate the masses about the importance of driving in their respective lanes only and to follow traffic signals strictly. Violation of these should result in fines and in case of repeated offence the driving license of the person should be confiscated. Pollution check of vehicles by owners at regular intervals should be made mandatory. This can also contribute a lot in saving the environment from pollution. Thus, we as responsible citizens just need to make a start. Jatin 12A

TIME FLIES I am Vaishnav, I recently turned 15 years old, I am studying in class 10 . Recently, on the occasion of my birthday I along with my family was having a glimpse at the album which featured my childhood photos, I didn’t realize when I fell into a loop of thoughts and memories – as of being a kid . Later some time I sighed and thought “I came so far in my life “ . It just seems to me that , yesterday was the first day when I went to school and today I am in 10th standard -one of the most important phase of my life . Now when I look back into my past , I realize I have changed drastically , back in the time I used to get happy for small things and I was a very happy , innocent kid who didn’t had any sort of pressure of life . I remember back in my childhood , when our school used to get dispersed , I can confidently say , I was the happiest kid in this world and I used to run towards my home with a heavy bag on my back which used to make me unstable on my way back home . And when I came back from school , I used to spend a lot of time with my sister but now … we rarely find time for each other . And I used to play games with my gang , which made no sense , now when I see kids play those games , I end up having a huge smile on my face . And whenever I used to feel frightened , I rushed towards my mother and lay my head in her lap and sleep for some time without any sense of fear or tension . And on the current day with time , the kid inside me slowly started to fade away , which makes me gloomy . Time flew away so quickly . Now when someone says “ you are not a kid anymore “ deep down in my heart it hurts . According to me ‘ Time flies , but memories last forever ‘ and I have preserved one of the sweetest memories for myself and at last I would like to say ‘ Time is like a river . You can’t touch the same water twice , because the flow that has passed will never pass again . Enjoy every moment in life‘ . Daliboyina Vaishnav 10 C

POLLUTION Don't make trees rare, keep them with care. Pollution is being very common now-a-days. It has become a very common problem now all over the world. It is being released in a very large amount day by day from Industries to Household works. Due to increase in pollution we have many complications in our life leading into many different types of health issues. Pollution is mainly differentiated into three types: 1. Air pollution 2. Water pollution 3. Soil pollution, etc. 1. Air Pollution: The dust particles or the impurities in the air leads to the air pollution. Sometimes release of toxic gases into the air unknowingly effects on human body system. They lead to many breathing problems such as asthma, lung disorders and even death in some cases. 2. Water Pollution: It is caused due to impurities in water from household and industries. The wastewater from Industries, Factories and houses a problem which is released into ocean without processing causes lakes, ponds, rivers, oceans and even underground water to pollute. 3. Land Pollution: It is caused due to the usage of fertilizers, chemical leading to the loss of fertility of soil making it unfit for use. The fertilizers, chemicals in the soil when comes in contact with water causes water pollution, causing aquatic life in the nearby ponds or lakes to extinction. In order to reduce pollution in air, water and soil trees play a major role. As the minerals in the fertilizers help improve plant life, the water carrying the minerals are extracted by the roots of trees and plants saving many aquatic animals, worms and insects in the soil. They help reducing soil erosion preventing shifting the soil to the ocean bed. They extract the harmful particles from the air reducing air pollution. Hence we should protect the and save the life of plants. We should try to plant saplings for a better future of the next generations. Even if we don't plant trees at least we have to save them from being destroyed. “Take care of the trees for they will take care of you”. We must promote terrace garden for a better future. BROKEN JAR Here I lie, a broken mind Yearning to be free, Actions and thoughts struggle to be in tandem It’s a broken jar. I carry on like a bull on ice Piercing with trust of a broken arrow in water, I yell and kick, but my strength has the weight of a withered leaf in mid air It’s a broken jar. A phalanx of great silence penetrates the dark, sending chill shiver to my already depleted bones It’s a broken jar. Now I sit back, looking over the horizon drowning my sorrows in the sands of time The sun finally sets, with my misty eyes I could see never before I could finally break a smile, reminiscing all the beautiful moments with those I love I hear my heart raising to eternity, and I could finally say We have come a long way Let’s go break this vacuum It’s a broken jar…. Thinking Out of the Box Once upon a time, a merchant named Sam owed a huge sum of money to Tom, a money lender. The time came when the merchant ran out of the last chance given to him to give the money back. Sam had a beautiful daughter who was very affectionate with her father. Tom asked the merchant to give all the money back failing and will also marry his beautiful daughter. Tom was not at all good looking and ill minded and so the merchant was in dilemma. Tom proposed a new condition. There was a mix of black and white pebbles on the ground where they were standing. He will take two pebbles on both hands, one will be white and the other will be Black. If the daughter correctly chooses the white pebble, then Tom will write off all the debt and leave the marriage proposal too. But if she chooses the black pebble, he will write off the debt but will marry the daughter .Tom bent down to pick the pebbles from the ground and the daughter noticed that he took black pebbles on both hands. The girl had three choices- to notify the same to her father which may provoke Tom, take the black pebble and sacrifice her life or simply refuse to take the pebble which might land her father into trouble. But what she did totally surprise Tom. She took the pebble from his hand and ‘accidentally’ the pebble fell off from her hand to ground. She then asked Tom to see which color pebble was left in his hand to identify the color she picked. Tom had no other choice but to show the black color pebble in his hand and set both of them free. Moral: Sometimes, life offers you situations which not only demands hard work and perseverance but some creative thinking which saves the situation. YOU MAKE ME You make me laugh, when I want to cry, Make me live, when I want to die. Make me smile when I want to fawn, You turn my life upside down. Believe in me when no one else does, You’re my now, my is, my was. When you call my name, I begin to blush, I’m afraid people notice I need you so much. When I’m with you time flies by fast, It’s like the present in the past. I need you more than you can believe, Love you so more than you can conceive. Think about you every night and day, And hope my life can stay this way, I don’t want it to be any other way. Name: Bhumika Class: IX–C , Roll No.: 33

The Success Hand Once, a well-qualified young jobseeker went to apply for a management job in a big company. He passed the first interview. The director called him for the last interview for final selection. The director discovered from the CV that the youth’s academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research. Never had a year when he did not score. The director asked, “Did you obtain any scholarships in school?” The youth frankly answered “None”. The director asked, “Was it your father who paid for your school fees?” The youth answered, “My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees”. The director asked, “Where did your mother work?” The youth answered, “My mother worked as clothes washer . The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect”. The director asked, “Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?” The youth answered, “Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me”. The director said, “I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother’s hands, and then see me tomorrow morning”. The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid. The youth cleaned his mother’s hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother’s hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water. This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother’s hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future. After finishing the cleaning of his mother’s hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother. That night, mother and son talked for a very long time. Next morning, the youth went to the director’s office. The Director noticed the tears in the youth’s eyes, asked: “Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?” The youth answered, “I cleaned my mother’s hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes”. The Director asked, “Please tell me your feelings”. The youth said, “Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not the successful me today. Number 2, By working together and

helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship”. The director said, “This is what I am looking for to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired”. Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company’s performance improved tremendously. Moral: If one doesn’t understand and experience the difficulty it takes to earn the comfort provided by their loved ones, than they will never value it. The most important thing is to experience the difficulty and learn to value hard work behind all the given comfort. Again value your relationship. Just try to understand the suffering of the person who loves you, cares for you and even dreams for you. Moral : our parents are biggest hand behind our success . Supriya Yadav class :9'A'.

EDUCATION FOR BETTER HUMAN BEINGS It is rightly said that education is an unfolding form within. When our parents first entered the school holding our little fingers they thought we should be educated. They were looking into a worthy human being in the reflection of literacy. They saw in us a future that would liberate us from fear, greed, lust, jealousy, violence and all other evils and shape up our minds to adjust to the fast changes that are foreseen. As said by Buddha, a pupil obtains one quarter of his learning from resources (teachers), another from his own intelligence, the third quarter from his association with fellow students, and the remaining quarter is the course of time. Only one quarter of education is seen and the other is hidden. It is deeply influenced by innate potential. If we remember Sri Rabindranath Tagore’s words Education should be intellectual exploration and creation and the teaching should be like the overflow of water of water of the spring of culture, spontaneous and inevitable. As the ultimate reality of existence we should learn to understand that life is for giving and forgiving. The turning of mind as a machine should be greased with honesty. Intelligence is not the amount of information but the all-round development of personality, it is a way of life, it is beautiful with myriad colors. All knowledge that is received comes from the mind. “The End of all education should purely be service” said Mahatma Gandhi, those who do not train their hand lack to assimilate in others. Mind is like a small baby, needs lots of caring and guidance. The formed habits that are known as Samskaras, inherited from the elders and family tree are very good guides to educate ourselves to grow a good human being in ourselves. The only moral trainer is within - recognize and follow to habituate one with right emotions, make noblest associations, good physical outright and accept nature. Dr. Radhakrishnan who had a passion for reading books had stressed on educating oneself for the betterment of the society. It should have a social goal and an ultimate goal for the nation. One should make Nation free of fear and allow joy of adopting the deepest secrets of humanity that lies in nature “No instruments can make a man but only the self, the mind itself. Anchor it well” Name - Anik Panda Class - 9 A Roll no - 25

EDUCATION OF THE GIRL CHILD IN THE COUNTRY Education of girls has been a high priority with the Government of India. In the new millennium, India has consolidated its earlier educational reforms with increased resources and stronger policy commitments for achieving elementary education, particularly for girls. Reaching out to the girl child is primary to the efforts to universalise elementary education. ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ or ‘Education For All’ programme recognizes that ensuring the education of the girl child requires changes not only in the education system but also in society’s norms and attitudes. A two-pronged gender strategy has hence been adopted to make the educational system responsive to the needs of the girls through targeted interventions which serve as a pull-factor to enhance access and retention of girls in schools on the one hand and generate community demand for girls’ education through training and mobilisation on the other hand. The CBSE has also come up with the novel scheme of providing free education from the sixth standard onwards to the single girl child. The need of the times is that the government should further improve the educational infrastructure and make it more accessible and meaningful for the girl child. R. SANKEERTH 9th C

GLOBAL WARMING Global warming or climate change has today become a major threat to the mankind. The Earth’s temperature is on the rise and there are various reasons for it such as greenhouse gases emanating from carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, burning of fossil fuels or deforestation. Impact of Greenhouse Gases The rise in the levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) leads to substantial increase in temperature. It is because CO2 remains concentrated in the atmosphere for even hundreds of years. Due to activities like fossil fuel combustion for electricity generation, transportation, and heating, human beings have contributed to increase in the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Impact of Global Warming The sea levels are constantly rising as fresh water marshlands, low-lying cities, and islands have been inundated with seawater. There have been changes in rainfall patterns, leading to droughts and fires in some areas, and flooding in other areas. Ice caps are constantly melting posing a threat to polar bears as their feeding season stands reduced. Glaciers are gradually melting. Animal populations are gradually vanishing as there has been a widespread loss of their habitat. Conclusion As per Kyoto protocol, developed countries are required to cut back them emissions. There is a need to reduce coal-fired electricity, increase energy efficiency through wind and solar power, and also high efficiency natural gas generation. GARVIT IX ‘C’
