Once Upon Maddie Hawkins ‘20 singing “Swamps of Mallory Gersh ‘19 and Elizabeth Barroll ‘21 and Payton Lee ‘19 Home” with a group of Ladies in Waiting Rees Tindall ‘22 Director/Choreographer: Mr. Ron Giddings Music Director: Mr. Rob Redei Lisa O’Fiesh ‘19, Maddie Hawkins ‘20, Hanna Duncan ‘19, Ashley Reiter ‘19, Matthew Beagan ‘20, and Jordan Cox ‘19 “After four years of being a water street player, I continue to say that the Severn School stage is my home. The relationships built through the preforming arts are invaluable, along with the chance to share my passion with the community. Once Upon a Mattress was a show unique to Severn, as the character development, comedic storyline, and “silly” aspect of the show has not been showcased in over five years. I will deeply miss my fellow Water Street Players as I head off to college next year.” -Mallory Gersh ‘19 100
A Matress Matthew Beagan ‘20 Maddie Hawkins ‘20 Mallory Gersh ‘19 “Based on the classic story, ‘The Princess and the Pea,’ this humorous musical takes the audience through the story of a Kingdoms search for a “true princess.” The show is set in 1428 in a small kingdom “ruled over by a talkative queen and a mute king.” With the help of King Sextimus, the Jester, and the Minstrel, Princess Winnifred attempts to navigate through the hectic obstacles of the kingdom in order to live “happily ever after.” This upbeat musical follows the journey of the residents of the kingdom as they try to wed their beloved Prince Dauntless.” -Lisa O’Fiesh Kain Domenech ‘19, Spencer Quinn Roes ‘19, Hanna Duncan ‘19, and Will McCollum ‘19, Russell ‘19, Maddie Hawkins ‘21, Abby Tindall ‘19 Jake Leroux ‘20, and and Grant Kunowsky ‘19 Abby Tindall ‘19 101
Revels Concert Daniel Babalola ‘21 Drew Powell ‘22 “Choir and Instrumental Ensemble started preparing for this concert at the beginning of the school year. Each group selected a variety of songs that they wanted to share with the Severn Community. About a month before the performance, Jam Band got together with Vocal Ensemble to put together “Ain’t No Man” by The Avett Brothers. This collaboration started to form into something that would truly be unique to Revels. Severn’s first ever A Capella group, now known as Breakwater, met for the first time performing “Let her go” by Passenger. All of Severn’s staple groups, Instrumental Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, Concert Choir, Chamber Music, Jam Band, and Intro to Performing arts gave a fantas- tic performance as they do every year. Treble Choir gave the entire crowd chills with their songs, and the Breakwater a Capella group brought the house down. Overall, this show ended up being one of the most unique I have ever seen. So many exciting songs and so much talent from every performer, and the new groups highlighted how quickly Severn’s music program is growing.” - Will McCollum ‘19 Emma Hlousek ‘22 and Chéla Cunningham ‘21 Sam Berlin ‘19 Quinn Roes ‘19 and Jared Reilly ‘19 The annual Revels Concert was held in Price auditorium, where Mr. Donn and Mr. Redei led Will McCollum ‘19 the students in a beautiful recital. Performances, ranging from singing to a variety of instruments, wowed the crowd. Severn’s first A Capella group, Breakwater, made their first appearance during the concert with a group from freshmen to seniors. Freshmen from concert choir perform songs that have been prepared for the audience. Alina Valencia ‘22 102

There are scrumptious pastries, snacks, and coffee, of course! This year we had students of all grades that performed as soloists, duets, and even a trio poem reading. With the help of club advisors, Mr. F-C, and Ms. Osquist, students were able to make a program that interests everyone from a variety 103 of backgrounds. Instead of limiting the seminars to solely “inclusivity” clubs, the opportunity was opened to the entire student body. This resulted in a wide variety of seminars, including “Finding Common Ground,” and “Faculty Fishbowl on Politics,” where upper school teachers discussed current political issues. With a variety of informative seminars, each student was able to have a fulfilling experience.

McDouall of Creative Connections took the stage on Thursday morning with a set of drums, sampling and recording equipment, a guitar, and a cello. But instead of beginning their residency with a complete performance as many have in the past, they put out a call to our community. “We have some very small musical ideas,” said Sam, “but we want to access your voices and your thoughts about your community and the way you see yourselves in society.” Over the next two days, students from our Upper and Middle Schools worked with the trio to create the unique multi-media performance, “I Collecting us.” Meeting with students. - Article from The Binnacle by Erin Lewis Sam Mumford collaborating with Middle School students. 105
