In the dim past, the poet emerged the first, then the philosopher and teacl,ier, then the builder, and then the man involved in the affairs of the world. When the hierarchy of professions was complete, the doctor appeared. In the City of Baguio, Saint Louis University once produced poets and artisans of remarkable degree and continue to do so; philosophers and teachers of exceptional vision and talent and continue to M so; men whose task was nation-building and continue to do so; men in government and affairs of the state and continue to do so. With the new College of Medicine soon to rise in its campus, we share with its Administrators the strong hope that the doctors it will mold and produce will be imbued with the same Chardinean spirit of their predecessors, under God and the banner of the New Society, and con- tinue to do so.
