AU Events in Academic Year 2019

December 27-28, 2019 – January 3, 2020 The 40th World Universities Debating Championship Assumption University has been selected, for the second time, to host the 40th World Universities Debating Competition competing for the King’s Trophy. The momentous event was held from December 27, 2019, to January 4, 2020, with over 440 teams from 50 countries participating.













January 6, 2020 Orientation for AU Master’s and Ph.D. Students! AU Graduate School of Human Sciences’ Master’s Degree and Doctoral candidates from existing departments are all charged and ready to embark on their study programs! Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwattana Eamoraphan, Dean, conducted an orientation session for this recently enrolled student group; directing them towards proper study directions and guidelines.











January 7, 2020 “A Unity for Sporting Spirit” AU Athletes were richly blessed and all geared up for the 47th University Games to bring back winning medals. Greatly encouraged and empowered by Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka, Vice President for Student Affairs. the AU student athletes were excited and eagerly ready to compete in the “The Sun Games 2020” hosted by Rangsit University during January 10-19, 2020.











January 8, 2020 Royal Thai Navy’s Officials Awarded Certificates for Completion of Chinese Language Course Completing the short Chinese language course administered by the Confucius Institute at Assumption University, a group of Royal Thai Navy’s officials was awarded certificates of course completion by Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President-Rector Magnificus.







January 10 - 19, 2020 47th University Games (The Sun Games 2020) Exhibiting their best and united efforts during the 47th University Games hosted by Rangsit University, the AU Athletes won a total of 10 medals: 1 Gold, 3 Silvers and 6 Bronzes in a variety of games while snatching another 5 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal; excelling in their demonstrated skills in the Hapkido Korean style fighting and defending tactics.











January 11, 2020 Group Photo Session: Graduates (Class XLVII) The day of study success & achievements finally arrived! Proud and truly happy graduates class XLVII took part in the group photos of their respective departments and faculties which was joined in by Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President-Rector Magnificus, and other congratulatory administrators, deans, chairpersons and faculty members.

January 24, 2020 New Year Party 2020 for AU General Workers Sincerely appreciated for their worthwhile efforts and tireless janitorial support services, the AU blue-collar general workers were given a specially organized New Year Party. The afternoon session kicked off with the friendship sports games actively competed by groups of General Workers from both campuses followed by a feast of rich Chinese-styled dinner, numerous games, fun-filled music and dances.
