Female recipients will be offered a freeday spa treatment, while male recipients will be offered a free golf lesson.Another aim for our tutorial campaign is to generate new leads. So, we want to have a \"refer-a-friend\"option so customers can invite additional friends to come to the event also. We will also use the SocialMedia Share feature to enable recipients to refer the campaign to their friends via Facebook and Twitter.zz Success of the campaign will be the following measures:zz Proportion of recipients to visit the personalised website.zz Proportion of recipients to register to attend the event.zz The number of new recipients referred by existing customers.zz We also want to chart the success of the follow up email sent to customers who haven't visited their personalised website.Campaign planning with XMPie CircleXMPie has a very useful web-based service for campaign planning and collaboration called Circle. Circle isan interactive, digital storyboard used to help visualise and plan multi-touch, multi-phase campaigns. There are three different Circle account levels including a free version, as well as Team and Business levelaccounts for organisations with few or many simultaneous campaigns. For more information, visit http://www.xmpie.com/CircleIf you don't already have a login to Circle, I recommend that you email [email protected] and request anaccount. In this tutorial the campaign is already well defined, so it is not really necessary to use Circle to plan thecampaign. However, for future reference when working with customer campaigns, there is an advancedtopic at the end of this tutorial which shows how Circle could be used to assist with planning thiscampaign.During XMPie face-to-face training, your instructor will now login to Circle and show you the application.12 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Module 2:Analyse the design, data & assetsIn this tutorial, the design work has already been done. All we need to do is to check the designs and thedata to see that we have all the relevant information, and understand what additional data needs to becaptured to meet the goals of the campaign.DurationAbout 30 minutesObjectivesAt the end of this module, you will be able to:zz to identify the variable components in the print, web and email designs,zz check the required data exists in the recipient data, andzz consider any necessary business rules required to complete the job.MethodInstructor discussion/presentation.ProcedureAnalyse the print documentsThe first step is to look at the design of the print piece which will be sent to the customer. Our invitation print postcard will look something like this:The items circled in red are variable or dynamic – the firstname, Response URL, and the promotional offerimage.16 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

The reverse side shows variable fields for the firstname, a promotional offer, the Response URL, and thepostal address details. So, in this case, the design is very simply, with mostly variable text elements and one image. The second print document we will create is a coupon to print for those recipients who register to attendthe event.Analyse the web and email documentsThe next part of the campaign is the Response URL where we want to have the customer confirm theircontact details, and click to register and attend the event. Naturally, we want the design of the web pageto also reflect the same offer that is shown on the postcard. For this tutorial, we will use one of the default XMPie RURL Wizard templates which is designed foran event registration. You will see later what the site looks like and how we can modify it to suit ourcampaign needs. If your future campaigns also have some custom web or email designs, you shouldcheck the designs to see what data fields and content objects are needed to display on the page. What additional information will be capturedIt is also important to understand what additional information you will be asking or capturing from thecampaign recipients. In order to record this new information into the database, we will need to add thesecolumns to the data. Of course you can add additional columns to the data afterwards (refer to advancedtopics chapter). But, spending some time to understand the campaign and plan at the beginning willXMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 17

save you time and effort. In this example we need to capture information as each recipient registers to attend the event. Also, welater want to send followup marketing material to those people who have not visited their personalisedwebsite, so we will need a data column to tag or mark the recipients we want to followup.Analyse the recipient dataNow we know more about the campaign, we can take a look at the available data and check that we haveall the information required. In a real-life situation with data from a customer, you may need to dedupe orclean customer data first. The sample data for this campaign is contacts.txt and is provided in the XM_tutorial_resources_v4folder. Here is what the data looks like when viewed with Microsoft Excel. Now in our campaign, we want to take customer registrations to attend the event, so we need to add anadditional column to the database to identify who has registered and who hasn't.Also, we will want to do some followup marketing to some recipients, so we will need to add a secondcolumn to the database to tag or mark the recipients we want to send followup materials. Our first \"hands-on\" step is to add these two new columns to the data. Step by step instructions Locate the contacts.txt that is provided in the XM_tutorial_resources_v4 folder. Open it using Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Macintosh. At the end of the first row of text, add two new column headers for registered and followup.Save and close the file. Additional information and notes To avoid problems with data being incorrectly \"typed\" – for example having a date treated as text, XMPie recommends the use of data sources which define the data type of each column. – For example Microsoft Access, SQL, Oracle, etc. This sample campaign uses a CSV file only because it can be edited by anyone and does not rely on a specific application to open it.18 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

NOTE: Special attention and warning Do not be tempted to open and make changes to the contacts.txt file in Microsoft Excel. When Excel opens a text file, it will try to determine what type of data each column contains, and it can make mistakes and change the data without telling you. For instance, our data has a postcode field which contains numbers including some which start with zero. Although the text file is correctly quoted so the column should be treated as text rather than a number, Excel will change it without warning: This postcode in the text file... ...will be changed by Excel.Review any required logic or business rulesAt this stage, we know what we are getting in terms of data, and what needs to be displayed on the printweb and email documents. We also know what additional data we need to capture on the web pages. So,now we can make sure we have the necessary information to make any business rules or logic required. This campaign is very simple and only has one piece of logic – this is the rule which determines thegraphic and text for the promotional offer which we described back on page 12: Female recipients willget the offer of a day spa treatment, while male recipients will get the offer of a golf lesson. We can check that we have the recipient's gender in the database, so we are right to start.Lastly, it will be worth bearing this point in mind later when we are doing the \"refer a friend\" page: We willneed to capture the gender of the friend that is being added to our database.Review any required assetsSince there is a business rule to change the image based on the persons gender, we can also check thatthere are assets in the XM_tutorial_resources_v4 folder for both male and female recipients (daySpa.jpgand golf.jpg).XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 19

Module 3:uCreate Print – the invite (part 1)In this module we start to create the InDesign template with uCreate Print.DurationAbout 30 minutesObjectivesAt the end of this module, you will be able to:zz Link to a data source with uCreate Print,zz place text and graphic ADOR objects into the InDesign document,zz create new text and graphic ADOR objects,zz use logic or business rules to change the graphic or text based on a database value,zz apply copy fitting to graphic assets and handle empty text data field,zz create a campaign package to upload to uProduce.MethodHands on exercise with instructor leadingProcedureInstalling fonts Step by step instructions This document uses MyriadPro fonts. In most cases, this font will be installed with your operating system. If you don't have this font installed, in the XM_tutorial_resources_v4 folder, locate the xm tutorial fonts folder. Copy this whole folder and paste a copy into the following directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts On a 64-bit version of Windows, this would be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts On a Macintosh, this would be: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/FontsLinking to the datasource Step by step instructions In the campaign resources folder, locate the invitation postcard CS5.indd file and open it with InDesign. If you are prompted about updated links, choose to update them automatically.20 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

The first thing we will do is select Save As and name the document invitation postcard CS5_ Completed.indd – so that you keep the original document and can repeat the tutorial again at a later date. From the uCreate Print palette's fly-out context menu select Link to Data Source... and locate the contacts.txt file provided in the XM_tutorial_ resources_v4 folder. If you cannot see the uCreate Print palette, select it under the Window menu. Since the file is a CSV or Comma Separated Values file, select Comma as the field separator and click OK. You will get a dialog showing that you successfully connected to the data source. Click OK. Now that you are connected to the data source, the uCreate Print palette will list text ADOR objects for all the columns or fields in the contacts.txt file.Placing Text ADOR objects into the design Step by step instructions On page one, use the Type tool to highlight the word _Firstname_ in the text, and double- click firstName in the uCreate Print paletteXMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 21

You should now see the first recipient's name on the page. To see other recipients, you can enter a specific record number, or use up/down arrows at the bottom of the uCreate Print palette. You will also notice that the variable text is highlighted light blue to show where any dynamic content is located on the page. You can turn this feature on/off with the Highlight Dynamic Objects check box. Another common design request, is to see how the design will look with the longest or shortest record in the database. You can right-click on any ADOR object and select to skip to the record with the longest or shortest entry. The next dynamic object on the page is the Response URL. But we don't know what that isyet, so we will skip over this and come back when we have created the website...22 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Setting the assets folder Step by step instructions The last thing we need to do on the first page, is to set the promotional offer image based on the recipient's gender. To do this, we will create a new ADOR object and set the business rules, but first, let's set the folder where the assets are located. Select Set Assets Folder from the uCreate Print flyout context menu. Select the assets folder which is located in the XM_ tutorial_resources_v4 folder.Creating a new Graphic ADOR and setting business rules or logic Step by step instructions Right-click in the list of ADOR objects and select New Content Object...XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 23

At the top of the New Content Object dialog, enter a name for the new ADOR Object andselect Graphic as the object type. In the Rule area, click the Graphic = drop down, and change it to If.Now use the drop-down menus to create the business rule as shown below: Additional information and notes The graphic files we specify (daySpa for females, or golf for males) can be found in the assets folder supplied in the XM_tutorial_resources_v4 folder. Note that we do not specify the file extension. This is because XMPie will automatically choose the correct image type depending on whether we are creating print output or web output. This feature enables XMPie's ADOR object to be media- independent. After setting the same business rules as listed above, click OK to save the new ADOR object, and you will see your new ADOR object is added to the uCreate Print palette.24 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Placing the graphic ADOR into the design Step by step instructions Now to place the graphic ADOR into InDesign, use the Selection tool (black arrow) to select the graphic box where you want the variable image, and then double-click the new photo ADOR. Additional information and notes If you see text across the image, this is to highlight that the image is dynamic. You can use the Highlight Dynamic Objects checkbox at the bottom of the uCreate Print palette to turn this on/off.Copy fitting dynamic graphics Step by step instructions To ensure that all of our image assets will fit inside the picture box, use the Selection tool (black arrow) to right-click on the picture and select Dynamic Graphic Properties... For this exercise, choose Fit Proportionally and Centered. Then click OK. Scroll through some records to check the correct fitting of the images.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 25

Setting up the second side of the document Step by step instructions Assuming that all is OK, move on to page two. Use the Type tool to place the text objects in the address text box by selecting the text and double-clicking the relevant ADOR object: firstName, lastName, address1, address2, city, state, postcode Additional information and notes Don't be surprised if nothing appears when you place the address2 content object. Some recipients only have one address line. You can scroll to different recipients at any time to help you layout the text as required, and we'll fix the empty line in the next step. When you have all the fields placed in the address zone, we need to set the text block to ignore empty content objects so we don't have blank lines in the address. To do this, use the Selection tool (black arrow) to select the text box. Then right-click on the text box and select Suppress Trailing Spaces on Empty Content. Scroll through the records to confirm that both 3-line and 4-line addresses appear correctly. Next, place the recipient's firstName in the text box on the left of the page. Apart from the Response URL, the only thing remaining at this point is the promotional offer text. The logic (or business rules) is exactly the same as we used for the graphic ADOR, so we can cheat and duplicate the existing content object... Right-click on the photo ADOR and select Duplicate \"photo\"... Now right-click on the photo copy ADOR and select Edit Rule...26 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Change the Name, Type and the resulting text values as shown below: Click OK and you should see your new offer Text ADOR in the uCreate Print palette. Use the Text tool to select _offer_ in the text box on the left and double-click the new offer Text ADOR in the uCreate Print palette. Repeat the process to replace the word _offer_ in the yellow circle in the middle of the page.Exporting a campaign package (CPKG)Our template is nearly complete. All we need now is the correct Response URL to place on the page.Naturally, it is very wise to first create the website and test the URL before, printing and sending out theinvitation postcard. So, this is the process we will follow in this tutorial. Step by step instructions Choose Save from the File menu, or use the Ctrl-S shortcut. Select Export from the uCreate Print flyout context menu. Additional information and notes If you didn't save the file before, when you go to export, you will first be asked to save the InDesign file. The default type of export package is a Document Package (DPKG). For this step, we need to create a Campaign Package (CPKG), so remember to change the Save as type as shown below:XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 27

Additional information and notes A Document Package (DPKG) will contain only the InDesign file and static resources required by the document. A DPKG must be uploaded into an existing campaign on the uProduce server. A Campaign Package (CPKG) can contain the DPKG (if creating a general package) as well as the plan or logic, data source and assets. If you have PersonalEffect e-Media edition, then you will not be able to process the InDesign document on the server. Therefore, if you have PersonalEffect e-Media, you should choose Web Campaign Package (CPKG) for the above step.If you correctly selected Campaign Package (CPKG) then you will receive a font licencewarning requesting you to confirm that your font license permits you to copy fonts to theserver:You can leave InDesign and the document open. We will come back to it in a few minutes.28 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Module 4 –uProduce – uploading the CPKGIn this chapter we will take the campaign package that we created on the desktop and upload it to theserver. We'll also convert the campaign for web use which will setup our Response URL and configure thecampaign for tracking in Marketing Console.DurationAbout 10 minutesObjectivesAt the end of this module, you will be able to:zz Create a new account,zz upload a campaign package, andzz convert a campaign for web use.MethodHands on exercise with instructor leadingProcedureCreating a new Account Step by step instructions Open a web browser, and enter the URL for your uProduce server dashboard. Enter the User Name and Password for your server. Click Login.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 29

NOTE: Special attention and warning In this demonstration, my uProduce server name is uprodsrv1. – To get to the dashboard on your server, remember to use your servername followed by / xmpiedashboard. Click New to create a new accountEnter a name for the new account, and select any additional people who you want to be ableto see/use/share access to the account.30 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

A little further down the New Account screen, you can also change the default Email Settings for this new account. NOTE: Special attention and warning If you are going to use an SMTP Deliver Provider for this example, you must set Custom Physical Address placeholder information or you will not be able to do the bulk email sending later. If you are using Exact Target or XMPie Email Services Delivery Provider, then you can leave this set to Default since it will take the settings from your ET/XES account setup. If you want your new Account to default to a different delivery provider, or to have different email sender information in the footer of the email, then you can change the account's default email settings here. Additional information and notes The aim of this feature is to enables you to setup accounts for different customers and have email defaults set with their contact details in the footer, and their email server already configured. Click Save. You will be returned to the Accounts list.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 31

Uploading the campaign package (CPKG) Step by step instructions Click on the name of the new account you just created Click Upload. Click Browse and locate the Campaign Package (CPKG) you created in InDesign. Give the campaign a more friendly Name. Click Upload.Adapting the campaign for web Step by step instructions After the campaign uploads, you will be presented with a new browser window which enables you to adapt the campaign for web. Click the link to Adapt the Campaign for Web. Additional information and notes If you forget to check the Adapt this Campaign for Web checkbox, wait for the campaign package to upload, then when you are returned to the Accounts page, check the box next to the name of the campaign, and click the Adapt for Web button.32 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Since we just uploaded this campaign, there is only one data source, so we can just click Next. The next step is to configure the friendly URL for the website. In this example, I'm selecting to place the recipient key after the domain name, rather than embedded in the domain name. Also configure how you want the recipient key formatted in the URL by clicking on the ADOR names from the list on the right-hand side. In my case I've selected to use the recipient firstname, a full stop, and the recipient lastname. Click Next.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 33

NOTE: Special attention and warning The domain name that you enter should be setup in DNS and point to the IP address of the web server where you have RURL Wizard installed. NOTE: Special attention and warning In order to use the recipient key in the domain name, your DNS needs to be capable of supporting (and setup to use) a wild card – for example an entry such as *.company.com Additional information and notes Also, since I am running multiple campaigns with the domain name www.rwt. xmpie.com, I am using a sub folder /cruise to identify this particular campaign. If you register different domain names for each campaign then there is no need to use a sub folder. The next step is to configure the tracking. Select the ADOR values that you want to use fortracking. I chose to track all ADORs except the photo.Click Finish. The next screen will show a list of what the Adapt Campaign for Web process has done foryou in the background.34 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Click XMPie RURL Wizard link to continue in the RURL Wizard.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 35

Module 5 –XMPie RURL WizardIn this module we use the RURL Wizard to make a Response URL website for our travel campaign. TheRURL Wizard automates much of the setup, and in a few simple steps your website can be online andworking. Even if you intend to design your own web pages, or have the html pages provided by yourcustomer, the wizard simplifies and automates the web server, proxy, URL and other configuration steps.DurationAbout 10 minutesObjectivesAt the end of this module, you will be able to:zz use the XMPie RURL Wizard to setup a personalised website using one of the built-in website templateszz linking the website to the sample campaign's database and plan file.MethodHands on exercise with instructor leadingProcedureCreating a new website Step by step instructions After converting the campaign for web, clicking the Create a Website button will automatically log you into the RURL Wizard and start creating a new website. Click OK.36 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

For this demonstration, select the RURL with Update Info and Confirmation Email template. Click Next. Additional information and notes The RURL Wizard comes with a number of template sets built-in. Templates make it quick and easy to create cross media websites. Advanced users are also able to create template sets to for the Wizard to use. If you already have web pages designed for your campaign you can choose the Blank Page template for this step and add your pages to Adobe Dreamweaver as shown in Chapter 8 Update the website. Click on the number 3 icon under the page preview. The numbers in blue circles on the page preview, correspond with the same number in the placeholder list and will help you identify which placeholders you wish to set. Next to placeholder #1 Banner Title, click the button to Open Editor.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 37

Use the inline HTML editor to change the banner text. Select the word Sparrow, and typeCruise to welcome people to the Cruise Event. To save your changes, click the Save icon (diskette image) in the top left of the HTML editortool bar.Next to placeholder #3 Landing page main content, click the button to Open Editor. Again, use the inline HTML editor to customise the text for the Cruise event. Click the Save iconwhen completed.38 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Next to placeholder #6 Site logo image, click the Browse button and select the RoundTravelLogo.gif file from the images for web changes provided with the training resources. Click OK on the file selection dialog to upload the file to your server. Next to placeholder #7 Header image, click the Browse button and select the newMainPhoto.jpg file from the images for web changes provided with the training resources. Click OK on the file selection dialog to upload the file to your server.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 39

At the bottom of the list of placeholders, set numbers 11 to 15 by selecting your ADOR objectname from the drop-down list. You can edit other items such as footer text and/or colour as you wish. When done, click the Next button at the bottom of the dialog.Next Confirm the details on the summary page are correct for your site, and click Finish.40 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

You will see that the website is ready to use. The Response URL for the first recipient in your data is shown. Click the link and confirm the site is working OK. Here is the default landing page for Jane. We will come back and make some changes to the web page design with Dreamweaver shortly, but first, let's finish off the print invitation. Now we have the Response URL setup and working we can complete the invitation postcard knowing that the URL we use is correct.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 41

Module 6 –uCreate Print – the invite (part 2)Now we have confirmed the URL of the campaign website, we can complete the print design by addingthe URL to the postcard invitation. This module also looks at creating the personalised print output bothon the uProduce server and on the desktop.DurationAbout 30 minutesObjectivesAt the end of this module, you will be able to:zz Relink your print document to a different data source,zz get data from your uProduce server, andzz get the recipient id key and campaign RURL from your uProduce server.MethodHands on exercise with instructor leadingProcedureLinking to uProduce ICP Port and add Response URL to the document Step by step instructions Return to the InDesign file we were working on earlier. Select Link to ICP Port... from the uCreate Print flyout context menu. Enter your uProduce server name or IP address, and your dashboard User name and Password. (Customer name is optional.) Click Next. Select the Account, Campaign and ICP Port that we created in the previous section when we uploaded the campaign to the server. Click Finish.42 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

XMPie will save a backup of the document (which is currently linked to the contacts.txt file) and report back what it named the backup. Your document is now linked to the uProduce server, and the data that you see on the screen is now coming from the server rather than the text file. You will notice at the top of the ADOR list, that you have two new ADORs being provided automatically by the uProduce server: XMPieRURL and XMPieRecipientKey. Go to page one of the InDesign file and highlight the URL text on the page. Double-click the XMPieRURL ADOR object in the uCreate Print palette. You will notice that the text overflows the box. This is highlighted by the red + at the right- hand side of the text box. Use the Selection tool (black arrow) and click on the text box. Right-click and select: Dynamic Story Properties -> Dynamic Story Length Handling...XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 43

In this case we want to copy fit on Overflow, and we will use font size and horizontal scaling to fit the text. Click OK. Now scroll through the records, and you should see the copy fitting take place so that our longest recipient id (Scott.McPhadden) fits correctly. Go to page two of the InDesign file, and highlight the URL text on the page. Repeat the above steps to place the XMPieRURL ADOR object onto the page, and apply copy fitting. Our print invitation is now finished. Choose Save from the File menu, or use the Control-S shortcut. Additional information and notes Note that the XMPieRURL content object is only available when you are linked to the uProduce Port as a data source.Creating the print output file (uCreate Print)Let's create the final print file and track that we printed it. We will just output to PDF so we can open andcheck the file. In reality, when outputting your own documents, depending on the job and your printer/rip, you may find that output formats like VIPP or VPS are better suited. XMPie provides several outputformats designed for variable data printing and we recommend that you do some testing to compare theproduction speed and printing speed on your equipment. You can choose to create the print output on your desktop computer, or on the uProduce server. If youhave PersonalEffect e-Media, then you must do the print output here on the desktop. Step by step instructions In the fly-out menu on the XMPie uCreate Print palette, choose Dynamic Print... Additional information and notes If you didn't save the file before, when you go to Dynamic Print, you will first be asked to save the InDesign file.44 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Choose the following settings: Format: Adobe(r) PDF Records: All Destination: If you wish to specify a folder for the PDF to be created, you can browse to select it. If you leave it as (default) uCreate will make a new folder called \"output\" in the same folder as the InDesign file, and create a subfolder with the current date/time Click on Advanced. The InDesign file is setup with 5mm of bleed. There is no need to use such a large amount of bleed. So, turn off the Use Document Bleed Settings, and manually set 2mm of bleed for all sides.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 45

Click on Imposition. Use these settings: Template: Step and Repeat Sheet Size: A4 Margin: 3mm (this is the area around the outside of the sheet in which to draw the cut marks.) Auto Calculate: checked Duplex: checked Centre Pages: checked Draw cut marks: checked and set the cut marks 2mm into the documentAdditional information and notesThe value entered for Draw Cut Marks is not the length of the trim marks. Thisis how far into the document the trim marks will be drawn, and it also takes thebleed setting from the advanced panel into consideration. Examples:Bleed 2mm with Draw Cut Marks 2mm = trims will be drawn at document size as set in InDesign.Bleed 0mm with Draw Cut Marks 2mm = trims will be drawn 2mm inside document size so trimmed size will be 4mm smaller than document size as set in InDesign46 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Click on Tracking. On the Tracking panel, click the New... button to add a new Touchpoint. Enter a name for the new Touchpoint. Click Create. Additional information and notes \"Touchpoint\" is a marketing term and refers to a communication with a customer. Later when creating reports in Marketing Console we will be able to see who we did or did not print and mail the postcard to.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 47
