Grade 3 EXSTREAM The Grade 3 girls had to design a moveable object. They were given a goodie bag and could use any or all of the items in their bag. In their second activity, they had to design something that could float and move using wind energy. They used recycled materials of their choice for this. For the third activity, the girls had to make their own kites. They then had to test their kite to see if it could fly. Click here to see our Grade 3 EXSTREAM day activities.

On Sunday 10 October, 16 Grade 3 girls, celebrated the sacrament of First Holy Communion at St Dominic’s Parish Church in Boksburg. The Mass was celebrated by Fr Graham, the Parish Priest and Deacon Darryl. After months of preparation, the girls, dressed in white, were very excited that their special day had finally arrived. A small group of family and friends came together in the beautifully decorated church to witness this important milestone in the spiritual journey of these girls. We know that it was a meaningful experience for them and pray that they continue the growth and deepening of their special relationship with God. The music of the Mass was provided by Mrs Penny and Caitlin Richter, our High School choir leader, who led the singing beautifully. We are immensely grateful to Mr Lavos, who very generously made it possible for the Mass to be livestreamed on Teams. Many family members who would normally have been able to attend, were in this way, able to participate in the Mass. At the end of the Mass, Mrs Bradbury thanked all those who were responsible for the organisation and preparation of this Mass. A special thanks was extended to Deacon Greg, who, each year, spends time in preparing the girls and their parents for this special sacrament. Special mention was made of Mrs Kerr, who is retiring at the end of the year. Mrs Kerr has been involved with First Holy Communion preparation for many years and her contributions and care have been invaluable. Before the Final Blessing, the girls were pleased to be called up to receive their First Holy Communion certificates from Fr Graham. Mrs P Penny

God bless you all

First Holy Communion Grade 4 On Sunday 16 May, 16 Grade 4 girls, celebrated the sacrament of First Holy Communion at St Dominic’s Parish Church in Boksburg. The Mass was celebrated by Fr Graham, the Parish Priest and Deacon Greg. After the disappointment of having their First Holy Communion postponed from last year, due to the Covid lockdown, the girls, dressed in white, were very excited that the day had finally arrived. A small group of family and friends came together in the beautifully decorated church to witness this important milestone in the spiritual journey of these girls. We know that it was a meaningful experience for them and pray that they continue the growth and deepening of their special relationship with God. The music of the Mass was provided by Mrs. Penny and Caitlin Richter, who led the singing beautifully. We are immensely grateful to Maarten Pretorius who very generously made it possible for the Mass to be livestreamed on Zoom. Many family members who would normally have attended, were in this way, able to participate in the Mass. Thank you to all those who were responsible for the organisation and preparation of this Mass. We would like to extend a special thank you to Deacon Greg, who, each year, spends time in preparing the girls and their parents for this special sacrament. At the end of the Mass, the girls were pleased to receive their certificates for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion from Fr Graham. Mrs. P Penny
