Day-2 Circle time: 9.00 to 9.30am Concept: Introduction of Seasons Teacher shows the pictures/objects of all seasons which were already shown during the introduction of each season in the previous sessions. Teacher poses questions like: What are these? When do you use these? Do you find the same weather every day? She then tells the students that there are mainly 3 seasons. Summer, winter and rainy seasons. She makes children repeat the names of the seasons. She discusses with children the climate conditions in each of these seasons. Summer – hot weather, winter – cold weather and rainy season – wet and rainy. Tomorrow we will discuss the clothes worn in each season. 9.30 to 10.00 am: Sight words: This week and in fact for this whole month I am enclosing a list of 44 set of sight words. These are high frequency words which teachers and students will use frequently. Please print it out or even better would be if teachers can prepare charts of these sight words and display it. Each day make children learn 4 sets and then next day start with these 4 sets and continue another set of 2 or 4. This depends on how fast children are able to do it. 10.00 to 10.20 am: Language development. Singular and plural: keep one set of things on the left side of a chart and multiple sets of the same on the right side. Those on the left side will be one pencil or one eraser or one pen or one book and the child has to say two or three pencils etc., Encourage children to look at the environment and say the number of things that are there around. Reinforce that if any object is one it is singular and more than that plural. Use one and many if singular and plural is sounding too difficult for kids. 141

Day-3 Show and tell activity: 9.00 to 9.30am Concept: Weather Teacher shows the calendar to the students and asks the following questions: What day was yesterday? How was the day? What day is today? How is the day today? What day is tomorrow? Can you tell me how would be the day for tomorrow? Teacher ensures that every child answers the questions in turn and sums up the session by saying that weather is not the same all through the year and also each day. It keeps changing. But seasons occur in a cyclic manner i,e after summer season next comes is rainy season and then winter season. Note: Teacher can also talk about autumn or spring, but it will become too abstract to them. Also they are so much evidently witnessed each year. 9.30 to 10.00 am: Language development: Reinforcement of CVC words with ‘I’. Pin, tin, fin, din, kin, rin, sin, win, pit, sit, bit, fit, hit, wit, sir, etc., Teacher please write this on the board and children should repeat it. Structured Play: 11.45 to 12.10am Physical Exercise: Relay Race Teacher makes the students form groups and makes each group of students stand different distances. Every group leader (who stands in the beginning of the line) is given an object to run and pass to the friend who is standing next to him/her in the same line. Once his/her friend starts running to pass it to the next child, the leader occupies the second child’s place. The same procedure is repeated till every child in the gets the object to take and run ahead. The competition would in the groups. Teacher makes sure that no child pushes the other in the process of passing the object to each one. Large Group Time: 12.10 pm to 12.45 pm Concept: Water Cycle Material used: Ice cubes, a glass tumbler Teacher displays ice cubes in the glass tumbler and asks the following questions: What are these? (ice cubes) What do you use these ice cubes for? When do you use these ice cubes mostly? Why do you use these? What happens to these ice cubes, if I leave it in the glass tumbler? How do I get back the ice cubes? What happens if I boil the water? 145

Teacher sums up the session by saying that when the water is kept in the refrigerator, it forms into ice, if the ice is melted, it changes back into water, if we boil the water, it evaporates. Same things happen in the seasons change. All the rivers get dried by during summer season. It rains after the summer season. After rainy season, the weather becomes cold and the winter season begins from then. All these changes go in a cycle.
