In Cadets were founded in 1966 by former Thunderbirds its first season, the corps placed 23rd at the DCI World director Rod Stubbs. Drum Corps International’s World Class includes corps of up to 150 members. The Corps Open Class groups, which may follow a more abbreviated touring schedule compared to their World Class counterparts, consist of anywhere between 30 and 150 performers. As they have since 2011, both classes will compete against one another beginning with the World Championship Prelims in Indianapolis. The Cadets STAFF Awakening Director George Hopkins The central concept of the Cadets’ 2016 program— Tour Managers statues coming to life—is fantastic enough in itself. But Michael Pfeil, Rod Owens there’s a twist. For these statues, taking on the art of Trainer living is filled with resistance and challenges. Life is not perhaps all Eric Buckman that they imagined. The symbolism is clear, powerful, and real: The Recruitment statues represent human beings in a world where some are afraid John Molloy to step into the light of society and be seen as their true selves. Executive Director Prepare to die.” With these words from William Jim Coates Goldman’s The Princess Bride (spoken memorably by Mandy Drum Majors Patinkin in Rob Reiner’s film version) as a touchstone—and additional Emily Salgado, Ross Werner inspiration from Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Homer’s Iliad—Carolina Design Crown weaves its own tale of revenge through the visual and sonic Michael Klesch, Keith Potter, setting of a classic Spaghetti Western. Pioneer STAFF Saint Joan of Arc Corps Director Roman Blenski The glittering shamrocks on the trademark U.S. Marine Assistant Director Corps-styled white caps instantly identify the Pioneer Roman Blenski III from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The corps’ 2016 production Executive Associate will interpret the exploits of a young girl convinced that the voice of Murray Davis God had told her to lead the French army into battle against England.
