Technical Training The models with two cylinders have a extra check valve. When we stop to raise or lower the platform the 2 cylinder pressures are being connected. This training manual and the information contained within is designed to be used as an aid to a service training course. The appropriate Genie Service Manual should always be referred to when carrying out maintenance or repair procedures So the pressure transducer can measure the pressure in both cylinders to avoid pressure being “trapped” in one of the 2 cylinders resulting in a false load/overload detection. Up: When the platform up button is released the solenoids Y7, Y9 and Y8 stay activated for two seconds, in this way the pressure is held by the check valve for equalizing . After 2” all solenoids are deactivated and the pressure in the lift hose is relieved to tank. Down When the platform down button is released Y7 & Y9 and Y8 are activated during two second , in this way the pressure is held by the check valve for equalizing. After 2” all solenoids are deactivated and the pressure in the lift hose is relieved to tank. GS DC Smart Link Rev.A GS Slab Smart Link 1000 www.genielift.co.uk 3. 23

Technical Training The relief in the manifold that is used to limit the max load that can be lifted from the ground up cannot be used for that purpose on the GS4047, because the pressure at the This training manual and the information contained within is designed to be used as an aid to a service training course. The appropriate Genie Service Manual should always be referred to when carrying out maintenance or repair procedures start of lift is lower then the pressure at full height. So we use the relief valve in the manifold to be able to reach full height with full load. (3000 psi approx) The second separate relief valve with solenoid valve is used to set the pressure for lifting from the ground up. (approx. 2400 psi) Once the down limit switch is released, the G-con send power to the solenoid valve and blocks the “ low pressure” relief. valve GS DC Smart Link Rev.A GS Slab Smart Link 1000 www.genielift.co.uk 3. 27

Technical Training Down limit switches are in opposite position with pothole switch for security. The input to This training manual and the information contained within is designed to be used as an aid to a service training course. The appropriate Genie Service Manual should always be referred to when carrying out maintenance or repair procedures the GCON J3-7 and J3-5 allows fast driving, safety stop, pothole system and outrigger functions. The picture shows the limit switches with the platform stowed . The analog level sensor S8 is only used for machines with the outrigger. Its powered by a 24 Volt power supply and gives two outputs: a pitch and a roll out. When the machine is on a level surface the voltage should be: Roll (yellow wire)= 2.5 Volt DC Pitch (Blue wire)= 2.43 Volt DC Note; the complete procedure to calibrate the level sensor is shown in outrigger calibration. The analog level sensor S7 is only for machines without outriggers. Its powered by a 24Volt power supply and it gives a 24V Volt input to J3-8( white wire) when the machine is withing the maximum allowable angle. When the machine is stowed the signal is ignored, allwing the machine to drive on a truck. GS DC Smart Link Rev.A GS Slab Smart Link 1000 www.genielift.co.uk 4. 13

Technical Training These codes are generated by the system to indicate that a device or circuit malfunction has been detected in the electrical system. The DTC’s are broken down into the following types: 1. Type “HXXX” – these indicate malfunctions associated with devices that control This training manual and the information contained within is designed to be used as an aid to a service training course. The appropriate Genie Service Manual should always be referred to when carrying out maintenance or repair procedures hydraulic functions in the electrical system. The “HXXX” faults are divided into short circuit to battery negative, short circuit to battery positive, open circuit and generic shorts. Examples of these devices are solenoid controlled hydraulic valves, motor controllers etc. 2. Type “PXXX” – these indicate malfunctions associated with power type devices in the electrical system. The “PXXX” faults are divided into short circuit to battery negative, short circuit to battery positive, open circuit and generic shorts. Examples of these devices are horns, sensor power, alarms etc. 3. Type “UXXX” – these indicate malfunctions associated with user interface devices in the electrical system. The “UXXX” faults are divided into short circuit to battery negative, short circuit to battery positive, open circuit and generic shorts. Examples of these devices are the GCON up and down switches, PCON drive joystick faults etc. 4. Type “FXXX” – these indicate malfunctions associated with machine feedback devices in the electrical system. The “FXXX” faults are divided into short circuit to battery negative, short circuit to battery positive, open circuit and generic shorts. Examples of these devices are Limit switches, angle sensors, pressure transducers etc. 5. Type “CXXX” – these indicate malfunctions associated with controls devices in the electrical system. Examples of these devices are platform controls and ground controls ECM. GS DC Smart Link Rev.A GS Slab Smart Link 1000 www.genielift.co.uk 5. 4
