INTRODUCTION KLANG HISTORY KLANG HISTORY The Klang district had appeared earlier than Malacca. This state was part of the colonial Sri Vijaya and Majapahit governments. The origins of its name came from the Mon- Khmer lamguage “Klong” which meant warehouse. Similarly, C.O Blagden explained Klang as an important port with many warehouses. While Charles A.Fishr de ned Klang as a “canal”or waterway. His opinion was widely accepted given that Klang has many waterways that are made out of rivers, including Sg. Klang, Sg. Bertek, Sg. Penang, Sg. Sementa, Sg. Agas, Sg. Kandas, Sg. Binjai, Sg. Kapar, Sg. Jati, Sg. Aur, Sg. Rasau, and Sg. Putus. The name of this river remains to this day. Klang became important only after the decline of Kuala Selangor after the death of Sultan Muhammad (1826- 1857). In 1875, Klang was chosen as the capital city of Selangor before the capital city was moved to Kuala Lumpur in 1880. In 1886, Klang was touted as a beautiful and clean place. ‘LITTLE’ INDIA RAJA MAHADI FORT It is a shopping focal point for the local Built in 1866 by Raja Mahadi Ibni and foreign Indian community. Its tracks initially connected Klang to Bukit Kuda. The station was built in view that the Bukit Kuda stop was no longer suitable as it was located quite far(approximately 3 miles) from the town of Klang. Hence, a railway bridge was built across the Klang River for RM94, 600. Approximately 5 years later, the Port of Klang was no longer adequate. Total imports and exports increased at a rapid rate. This was the result of the development of co ee crops and tin mining. The railway tra c between Kuala Lumpur became increasingly busy. Thus, in 1895, again decisions were made to extend the railway track from Klang to areas nearer to the sea so that larger ships could dock there. The implication of the move was the o cial opening of Port Swettenham( now Port Klang) on 158 September 1901. The track stretches 6 miles from Klang to Kuala Klang.
A GLANCE OF KLANG VALLEY INTRODUCTION Klang Valley – An IntroductionKlang Valley, or Lembah Klang in Malay, is named after Klang River, which is associated to the early development of the area as a cluster of tin mining towns in the late 19th century. Situated in the centre of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Klang Valley comprises the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and its adjoining districts in Selangor, namely Gombak, Hulu Langat, Petaling and Klang, covering an area of 2826 square kilometers. Geographically, it is delineated by Titiwangsa Mountain Range to the north and east, and the Strait of Malacca to the west. Being the most vibrant and lively region in the country, Klang Valley is the heartland of Malaysia’s industry and commerce and is always buzzing with vitality. Home to a great number of migrants from other states within Malaysia and foreign workers from Indonesia, Myanmar, India and Nepal, it is considered as the fastest growing region in the country with many more rapidly growing new towns and yet more is believed to develop in the near future. Development of the region took place mainly in the East-West direction (between Gombak and Port Klang) but the urban areas surrounding Kuala Lumpur have since grown south towards the border with Negeri Sembilan and north towards Rawang.www.uzbekistantheguide.com www.kltheguide.com.mywww.melakatheguide.com.my www.i3cs.com.myInterested in what you see ? http://mccd.koko.gov.my www.klangvalley4locals.com.my We’re looking for NEW TEAM MEMBERSAssistant Business Manager - Advertising Sales (to lead a team)Business Executive - Advertising SalesBusiness Executive - Circulation and Marketing SupportBusiness Executive - Acquisitions and Development (new business and business development)Media Executive - Media Planning and ServicingMedia AdministratorGraphic Designer/DTP/Web DesignerAccounts Assistant/ Credit ControlAdministrator (manage the ofiice)Secretary/P.A. INTRODUCTION Now, with the emergence of Klang Valley 2 Region, covering two areas in the south of Selangor—the districts of Sepang and Kuala Langat, this new region will generate economic development, strengthen the intra and inter-regional economic network and distribute its bene ts to the surrounding areas. These districts have been directly a ected by the implementation of mega projects, such as Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) and the Federal Administration Centre in Putrajaya, hence becoming the new areas for the expansion of the present Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan Region, Klang Valley. Sepang District, shaped like the stem of a ‘keris’ as seen from the air, is the youngest district for the state of Selangor. It borders the districts of Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Petaling, as well as Bandar Baru Nilai in Negeri Sembilan. The road network in Sepang comprises the Elite Highway on the west, the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway on the east, and the B20 Highway in between, as well as the Express Rail Link and new roads such as the South Klang Valley Expressway, Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Highway, Putrajaya Urban Motorway and the new B15 Highway. The district of Kuala Langat has become a strategic investment area following the intense development of Putrajaya and KLIA, and good road network linking it to Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Klang, Port Klang, Putrajaya and KLIA. Kuala Langat is located in the south-western part of Selangor and bordered by the districts of Klang to the north and Sepang to the east. Not getting enough? Subscribe to us... ...
