HUMOUR-THE BEST TEACHER!!! By Dhira Madan DIRECTOR DELHI CHILPARCO INTERNATIONAL & EDITOR Dhira Madan is an Educator and a Teacher Trainer. She has been a PGT at Presentation Convent Hr. Sec. School, Srinagar and at Bluebells School International altogether for 18 years. She holds a Diploma from IHM, Pusa Delhi and has been a hotelier. A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs, it is jolted by every pebble on the road. - Henry Ward Beecher Self deprecating humor makes a dull, boring, mundane class of students full of fun and frolic. It is an art to be developed as the timing of the humorous anecdote or punch line has to be perfectly matched with what one is delivering to one’s students. A few instances of humor from my personal experience are as mentioned below: I used to write a neat cursive A in capitals on the board and then make it more and more complicated - pretending it to be more aesthetic - till it was undecipherable. Then I would relate it to the the unreasonable expectations of the parents from
their children - comparing their 'A' to that of another child. The class would be in peals of laughter as a little bit of far fetched acting was always involved, sometimes even bordering on farce! Another real life incident was the wall mounted telephone at the Taj Hotel kitchen in Delhi, where the receiver fell into hot boiling oil, a container that had been kept there by a chef after he closed his deep frying section. The entire kitchen staff was walking towards me open-mouthed since I had received a call just before the receiver slipped. One chef got so scared that he picked up the mutilated plastic receiver and somehow told the hotel telephone exchange that the phone had gotten deep fried and their response was, \"Did the phone reach the deep fat fryer or did the deep fat fryer reach the phone?\" as it was unbelievable. To top it all the person who had called was still waiting and fuming and fretting at the other end even after a lot of time had elapsed. I cannot draw and my biggest phobia is drawing anything on the board in front of the class. My rat looks like my dog or even the bird I tried to draw. So I turned it into a humorous act by insisting that I could draw fabulously and then the outcome was hilarious. Once we were reading about a 10 cm prosthetic leg of a dancer and this student kept insisting that it was 10 meters long. We measured a distance of 10 m and asked her how she would walk if she were in the protagonist’s place. The whole class along with the student went roaring as she tried to show us how she would walk with a 10 m prosthetic leg! What ifs are also a great tool for generating humour! What if Alexander’s mother had called him up when he was facing Porus’ army? What if I got involved in binge eating before my job interview? What if I was mistaken for an actor and played along? What if all our electronic gadgets suddenly disappeared? What if Babur had a bout of extreme sleepiness at the Battle of Panipat?
Humour is a great leveller and a great binder. When the students see that their teacher too is not infallible they feel a sense of closeness and are no longer petrified of committing a blunder. Laughter is surely the best medicine and one must try to find humour in everything, but by being sensitive to the situation-humour at the wrong time might cause more pain and harm than bringing a smile on everyone’s faces. You may not be able to change a situation, but with humour you can change your attitude about it. -Alien Klein \"There is no limit as to what we can as a woman accomplish. Women empowerment is not about making women strong, women are already very strong. It is about changing the view of the world which perceives their strength. -Amb. Dr. Karishma Mani, National Brand Amb. Chilparco Int. \"Certain stereotypes are being broken: that only people with a certain profile can be actresses or be the cover of magazines.\" -Yalitza Aparicio

SCHEME YOUR OWN CONSTRUCTIVE WORLD BY AMB. NUR AHMED, COUNTRY AMB. CHILPARCO INTERNATIONAL BANGLADESH “Invest your time and money towards your development, you will invent a new world with your own identity as its feedback” - Amb. Nur Ahmed We limit our own life with limited activities. All youth are keeping themselves busy with study, spending much time on social media, games, and so on. Most of the students aren’t able to get their purpose in life. For this reason, after completing their education, they are suffering a lot to get to their destination. They are feeling blank to think what they have to do. For upgrading their own life, they have to have some skills and experience regarding their field. They can do some courses like PGD, Professional, and so on. Meanwhile, some sort of soft skills (Leadership, Problem- solving, Critical thinking, Communication, mostly) require to be updated. Furthermore, they can be engaged with different International humanitarian organizations or in the local organization to invest some time for community development. Therefore, they will get in touch with underprivileged people, lend a helping hand and be a part of their emotions. Youth can play a role on the development side with their interest. Even youth can work on their passions, interests, hobbies to fulfil their desire and contribute to the socio-economic context. Youth are the true power who can bring changes in their world. So scheme your constructive world now at this moment. \"Stereotypes do exist, but we have to walk through them.\" -F. Whitaker
Peace Education during the COVID-19 pandemic Ms. Rania Lampou Global STEM Educator, Global Peace Ambassador Greek Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs, Greek Astronomy & Space Company The COVID-19 pandemic has been the most disruptive infection outbreak of the 21st century. The tragic loss of life and deep economic disruption will permanently change society and economies. However, the pandemic is much more than a health crisis, it's also an unprecedented socio-economic crisis that threatens peacebuilding gains, especially if it is combined with existing instability. Furthermore, it can heighten conflict risks over time. Therefore, commitment to sustaining peace is now more urgent than ever. Guaranteeing human rights for everyone poses a challenge for every country around the world to a differing degree. Yet, the impact of the crisis on these rights is real. I believe that the COVID-19 crisis could also be a great resetter of economies, societies and education, an opportunity to bring forward long-awaited reforms for development. “The pandemic has created opportunities for peace and at the same time it can give excuses for adopting authoritarian measures that are unrelated to the pandemic. Human rights must be defended in a way that will allow us to focus on sustaining peace and achieving sustainable development.
The crisis exacerbated humanitarian crises and aggravated unrest and conflict. Social isolation and business closures resulted in a sharp economic downturn. COVID-19 has affected all the countries influenced by the pandemic but for countries with peace and security challenges, the crisis is even more detrimental. At this point we should make a distinction between positive and negative peace. Negative peace signifies the absence of violence while positive peace is filled with positive content such as harmony in relationships and societies, the creation of social systems that serve human needs and the constructive resolution of conflicts. Peace is not the absence of conflict but the absence of violence. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, social media and online communication have become essential tools for maintaining social connections. Many young people have been independently promoting positive narratives and engaging in peacebuilding activities during the COVID-19 crisis. In April 2020, UNESCO launched the \"My COVID-19 Story\" campaign. This universally shared experience of COVID-19 is allowing young people, demonstrate positive resilience. Positive peace is based on sustainable investments stability and a high-standard of living. I am trying to promote positive peace through my STEAM educational projects too. I am the Founder and International Coordinator of many humanitarian International projects \"Water, life giver and threat\", \"Food for thought\" and \"COVID 19: A Life-changing experience\". These projects are focusing on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) described in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. My water and food projects are specially addressed to students in Africa and India who suffer from all the disadvantages of negative peace such as lack of water and food. The \"COVID-19: A Life- changing experience\" teaches students what coronavirus is and how to protect themselves from it. It highlights the effects of the pandemic on the mental state of children. Story telling/sharing, creative projects and discussions help students to come to terms with this frightening situation. Peace education is a very important part of children’s education. Only through peace education, the advancement of human civilization is possible. An educational system that ignores peacebuilding goals, is a system that denies itself. \"Attempting to get to the truth means rejecting stereotypes and cliches.\" -Harold Evans
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT IN BANGLADESH BY FARHANA HAQUE, COUNTRY AMB. CHILPARCO INTERNATIONAL BRUNEI Women’s empowerment is defined as women’s ability to make strategic life choices where that ability had been previously denied them. Women empowerment now is often accredited as an important aim of international development policies, and many donor agencies include women’s empowerment in their development strategies. Women empowerment in Bangladesh means giving women of the country the power to rule and govern their own lives, away from traditional and social constraints. The women empowerment movement in Bangladesh focuses on giving women the power and authority they need, to be men’s equals. The structures of sub ordinance that have kept women in the dark for so long must be eliminated. Women must have intellectual resources which can be acquired through good education and material resources that can be accumulated with the help of a solid job. Women in Bangladesh work in rural areas and do most of the manufacturing labor as well as most of the harvesting. This traditional practice needs to stop. The violence against women must also stop. Women need to gain a lot more power over their decision making process. They should not be seen as fertility machines that have only the goal of reproducing. Most of the violence against women that takes place in Bangladesh is located in urban and rural households. Violence against women is an old, patriarch practice that focuses on establishing the balance of power in the family. The system of early marriage for girls is also a cause for violence against women because little girls are forced into new families from an early age.
There, they have to work like adults. Bangladesh is a society that perpetrates the myth of the mother as a divine creature. Women who do not get pregnant are considered inferior because they can’t bear children. In Bangladesh, gender inequalities are a social construction that can be eliminated with time. History of Women Empowerment The real unexpected truth is that these types of working women are always overlooked by women themselves. The main important thing is that women are the major force behind the development of today’s civilization for extending their contribution without earning in the economic, political, social and cultural process of the modern civilization. However, women's work always remains under reported; especially women’s own market homestead based economic activities. Theoretical perspective of the study: Credible documentation of women’s participation in economic activities is problematic particularly for women belonging to farm households. In recent years, empirical research has tried to document the extent of women’s participation in specific responsibilities, and their contribution to GDP, economic growth, household management, education, health & amp; politics, but the argument regarding the complication of women’s task and the interconnectedness between different types of functions, remains. My research presents some empirical evidences of recent changes in women-roles in socio-economic activities, and impact of women’s participation on their empowerment and the socio-economic conditions of the household. \"Why should men be constrained by antiquated stereotypes of masculinity? What does it mean to be 'A Real Man' anymore? Shouldn't we be celebrating a wide range of definitions of manhood?\" -Andy Dunn
Col. Zahid Siddiquie Sena medal, Soldier/Social Activist/Author Director, Axis Colleges CHILPARCO INTERNATIONAL CHIEF ADVISOR Chhodo Kal ki baaten, kal ki baat purani Naye daur me likhege hum mil kar nayi kahani (Forget the past, it’s old and gone It’s a new time, let’s write a new story) There is no choice but to shatter stereotypes and there is just no excuse not to dream deep and aim high if we wish to move with the times and breathe fresh air. Tarakkiyo ke daur me usi ka zor chal gaya Bana ke apna rasta jo bheed se nikal gaya (In the times of progress only he remains One who surges through the crowd and, Makes his/her own path.) There are far fewer applications for the huge, life-changing roles, contracts and grants than there are for the smaller ones. It’s lonely at the top. People talk themselves out of aiming high. They settle for less, make excuses and rarely leave their comfort zone.
Submit the application. Put your name in the hat and make the case for why it should be you. Back yourself. Dream big because no one else is daring to do it. Picture hearing the best news you could ever hear, for your life or career. Now, imagine falling just short of that. Aim for the moon, even if you miss it you will land among the stars. Aim to surprise and delight as many people as possible, as fast as possible, and ride the word-of-mouth wave to reach higher heights. Unlock the opportunities that come from scale and magnify your impact. Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. Make living an ordinary life your worst-case scenario, not your master plan. You can always opt out and take a step back in the future. It’s always possible to downsize, downgrade and take it slowly. You always have that fallback. I’d much rather say, “I can’t believe I did that” than “I wish I’d done that”. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. If someone else is doing it, you can do it. No matter the favorable circumstances or the head start they might have had, you can come up with the ideas to level the playing field. For every person looking at making cutbacks, there’s another looking to spend a budget. Possessing self-belief and courage is impressive to witness and can amass a crowd. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. Fear of failure may hold you back. Yes, failure is a possibility, but is that really the worst that could happen? The worst case scenario is probably that you’ll die. One day that’s going to happen anyway, so you might as well dream big ahead of that. Stop acting like you’re going to live forever. What if I fail? But think, what if you fly? For every person looking for experience, there’s another looking for fresh eyes and enthusiasm. Other people are accessing the opportunities that could be yours, so let that be proof that it’s possible for you. Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work. Big plans ignite the imagination of others.
You’re taken seriously, you’re thought of differently. Your name becomes synonymous with big projects, big opportunities, big success. You gather a tribe because others want to share in that success or cheer you on. It could be you that gets that life-changing phone call or opportunity or that unexpected “yes”. Dreaming, planning and putting the work in turns, transforms long odds into short ones. Make the audacious plans, ask the giant questions and consider that every possibility could very well happen. Paro Ko khol zamana udan dekhta hai Zami pe baith ke kya aasman dekhta hai (Open your wings and take a flight As the world sees you soaring It is pointless just sitting on the ground and Looking at the skies) \"Fit no stereotypes. Don't chase the latest management fads. The situation dictates which approach best accomplishes the team's mission.\" -Colin Powell
Ms. Georgia Maneta Educator , English Expert -Greece Country Amb. Chilparco International- Greece We have been fortunate enough to witness the “dawn” of 2022, which has found us under the siege of the pandemic BUT (at least this is what I am hoping for) it is full of dreams and plans for the New Year. What I/we have learnt during 2021 was that, no matter how much society has advanced, there are still stereotypes and discrimination. Men and boys are still the breadwinners and the strong ones (the “macho”), whereas women and girls need to take care of the household, while also being vulnerable and sensitive and in need of protection. Let’s make a New Year’s Resolution then! Let’s not listen to anyone BUT ourselves and our hearts. Let’s dream and try to conquer the impossible! Let the boys be dancers and make-up artists, let the girls be taxi drivers and heavyweight champions! As long as their heart desires it, let people dream incessantly and try to fulfill their dreams. Shatter the stereotypes; make a better world for the young! Teach everyone to embrace differences, to respect each other’s desires and needs. Let us all try and make 2022 an unforgettable year in which everyone is defined by oneself and not by society or the stereotypes. Keep Dreaming, Keep Smiling, Keep Hoping!! A new year has come!
Amb. Sheeba Sachdev Agra Director Chilparco International In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt: \"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams\". Having a dream in life gives us a sense of purpose. We all aspire to achieve something in life and it all begins with one dream. No shackles can prevent us from dreaming deep, and if we work hard enough, no obstacle can stand in the way of accomplishing our goals. Even in the direst of circumstances, the hope that we will one day achieve our goals, motivates us to keep striving to the very end. In their early life no one believed in Albert Einstein, Stephen King, Benjamin Franklin or Walt Disney, to mention a few, however, they were driven by dreams in their minds which they never abandoned, and their tenacity and perseverance enabled them to achieve fame and fortune. The pursuit of great dream demands honest diligence and an indomitable spirit, but in the end the efforts are always worthwhile. No dream is too vast to be realized. We must constantly remind ourse;ves- \"All dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue t-hWemal.t\" Disney

Let's resound together the message: Let's sublimate with each person's feelings, language and emotions – that will resonate with one big heart- The heart of Chilparco International. \"Don't live upto your stereotypes.\" -Sherman Alexie
TED TALK A COLLABORATIVE TECH TOOL By Reena Garg, CHILPARCO INTERNATIONAL PARENTING MENTOR Mrs. Reena Garg is a distinguished English facilitator for the last 30 years and is presently working as HOD English department at St. Xavier’s school, Delhi. She is a certified Stanford university trainer and recipient of the famous Dr. S Radhakrishnan Memorial National Teacher’s Award. She is CBSE Innovation Ambassador, Observer and Head Examiner. She writes Plays, Short Stories, Poems and Educational Articles. Being a proud wife of an Indian Army Officer has given patriotic and multi linguistic colours to her profession. Though English cements its position as the world's lingua franca, English language teaching has evolved with time, alongside advances in technology. Language Learning Technologies have brought about a paradigm shift in the art of teaching and learning. They have acted as catalysts in stimulating pupils to not just oil the wheels of communication in the world of business, trade, education and tourism but also to emerge as confident orators and better communicators.
The amalgamation of technology in classroom teaching has enhanced collaborative learning, lowered learning anxiety levels, improved academic abilities by engaging students constructively and thus helped create self-motivated independent learners. OBJECTIVE The article is a humble attempt to homogenize language learning with TED Talk videos into our classrooms. It inspires application of an exciting pedagogy based on creative and innovative practices. WHAT IS TED TALK? Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) is a website and a downloadable application with a noble mission to make great ideas accessible and spark conversation. It hearkens to the seeds of peace and positivity by igniting the global community through short talks and presentations. ADVANTAGES TED Talk is a great platform that helps acclaim voice and participate in the global conversation by sharing innovative ideas. It is ardently employed to inspire the youth by nourishing the intellect and spirit. Apart from injecting motivation, it serves as a rich breeding ground to develop language skills/ ESL teaching tools, connect to content and foster critical thinking skills. It's about inspiring students to study more, learn more, and speak more English.
USE TED screen is 21c ally which arms the ESL learners with communicative elements to voice innate thoughts, profoundly propagating the maxim of “practice makes a man perfect”. Kinesthetic expressions along with verbal skills displayed in the videos make TED talks a trusted repertoire for perfect comprehension and advanced understanding. TED subtitle is a handy feature that helps the non-native English learners decipher the gist along with the content apart from disseminating additional information. Speakers in TED talk videos manifest language as an art for expression of ideas surpassing the territories of accent, diction, dialect, and articulation. Topics like autism, addictions to hallucinogenic substances and environmental issues not just help students identify their relevant concerns but also fuels motivation to share their opinions in an oral and written way, promote the use of the target language and participate actively in the proposed activities, thereby creating a path to learn in a meaningful manner. ACTION PLAN As being an English language facilitator, the age group and the relevance of the topic was kept in mind as the yardstick before handpicking a video. Talk by John Mc Whorter on “4 Reasons to Learn a New Language” helped in initiating discussion amongst students on the topic Why are we learning English? It encouraged learners to share their views. After watching the video students were divided in small groups & made to list the benefits of learning English and how English will help transform their lives.
The talk ignited the students in ‘Debate’ on the topic “Instant translation technology will render language learning obsolete”. It fostered deep thinking; critical evaluation & constructive understanding of the topic presented in the video. Students were also asked to compare English with other languages and tell how English differs from their first language, or any other languages they have learned. The video came as big aid to teach Superlatives and comparative sentences such as: English is more difficult than French Chinese is spoken by more people than English What’s the most difficult language in the world? After teaching grammar, it facilitated students to create superlative questions in groups, and play the Quiz O Quest in the class.eg What’s the biggest country in the world? What’s the fastest animal on land? TED Talks fruitfully gripped the students with note making practice assignments. It helped in integrating both writing and listening skills to further enhance their comprehension. Introduction of Concept-based terminology, new words, technical terms, slang & phrases helped in enriching vocabulary. By intently listening to TED talks featuring native speakers, it assisted young scholars to modify and improve pronunciation. Subtitles are a great feature of TED talks but with restricted application, it helps learners observe cues of body language and walk through the talk independently.
EVALUATION Integration of living and breathing language of TED talk generated interest amongst learners. It also boosted their confidence leading to significant progression in their thought process and expression. CONCLUSION TED talk is an engaging & versatile tech tool providing solutions to language learning and teaching needs. \"Stereotypes should never influence policy or public opinion. -Janet Reno
That’s What Friends Are For… - Dhira Madan The love and concern for another emanates from the will to be there for him/her, the intention has to be selfless compounded with generosity. Our miniscule gesture might be a miracle for the one in need; we must never underestimate divine intervention. Who could have fathomed that The class of 1993, IHM Pusa (Hotel Management Course) at Delhi would come together after having passed out of college since more than 28 years, to help the family of a close friend and batchmate who succumbed to the pandemic, leaving behind aged parents, a sister who is married, a homemaker wife, one daughter who had just joined college and the younger one in class 11. The savings were meagre as the tourism industry had suffered great losses during this period; our friend was an integral part of this industry. 70 of us came together and contributed Rs. 5 million towards this noble cause. It was given as a loan by the group with a clause that none of us would ask the friend’s wife ever to return it. This prevented her from paying a huge amount towards taxes, as she needed every penny to gather her life once more. I feel so fortunate to have such magnanimous batchmates and friends who stand by you no matter what... Stay Blessed each one of you. \"We shouldn't judge people through the prism of our own stereotypes.\" -Queen Rania of Jordan

It was so memorable I couldn’t wait to get involved. My position was operations manager.
Each week, we met at Greg Apodeca’s home, the curator who would encourage all to meet the organizers and attend the speaker training. I did both as the speaker trainer. We sat on elementary chairs, I introduced myself as merely a vessel to learn. In the hallway, Kat Haber approached me, a major TEDx organizer from Homer, Alaska who organized lots of events. Just like a sporting scout, she decided I would be the perfect coach with 13 years as a professor. The organizer of the event John Bates became a lifelong mentor. My sample speech “My love of Teaching” he described as Jedi in Star Wars. Kat Haber introduced me as a coach to a dozen speakers. One was Emmy winning tv reporter, a Film maker, a teacher on discrimination, a high school student, a lady talking about best friends and tomatoes in Denver and even a 10 year old. 10 was my limit. 2 weeks later, I got approved for the first TEDx in Thousand Oaks Performing Art Center. The speech was practiced over 40 times and rewritten about 19 and seen over 3,000 times. The day arrived and I nervously stood in the restroom practicing one more time. Standing on the stage and looking out at all those faces it was magic. The organizer told me, “You did it just perfect” and I was on fire. Greg Apodeca gifted me 6 months of coaching. My first book, “Random Acts of Kindness are Changing the World” was released. Greg was pleased when I sent a message on the first TEDx. I was more than just an adjunct college teacher. TEDx opened many doors. Later, I gave two more talks, “Breaking Cultural Barriers”, and Coming Around the Curve. Kat Haber and John Bates are co-authors in my 3rd book, “A Message for Tomorrow’s Leaders.” I have coached speakers from youth to seniors who want to stand on a stage and change people's lives. TEDx speaker was a game changer. Submitted another talk “Seeing Pandemic from Both Sides Now.” Is TEDx on your bucket list?
Speaking on TEDX has forever changed my life. In this year alone, I was instrumental in speaking internationally on NGO, Global Youth Festival, World Inspiring Young Leaders, A World Record Holder Organization. Just received World Kindness for 2nd year in a row. \"Master the Message with Passion & Purpose.\" - Rosalyn Kahn \"Someone with my name and my appearance comes with preconceived ideas attached. LOVE By Amb. Dorota Jankowiak Energia International Ambassador from Poland 'It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all.\" Love is a strong word. Love is a very powerful emotion which can bring a lot of happiness or sadness. Nowadays, most of the teenagers go through difficult and painful loves. The first relationships rarely end happily. But alone people need to believe that their soulmate is somewhere in the world and waiting for them. In my opinion in the world exist many types of love. For example mother's love, family's love... However, the most beautiful type of love is when the person whom you love like a brother or sister but you don't have the same parents. The real love is when you care about this person more than about yourself. You treat that person more than a best friend. When someone is truly in love, they can do anything for the other person. When you love someone then that person means the world to you. It's a great feeling, when you know that someone outside the family loves you for who you are. I wish everyone feels this feeling.
Even when you loved someone and you lost them, you still have memories in your head, on photos, etc. This also applies to other cases like relationships with which you connected, things which you've got. Remember that you can love someone and still choose to live without them. Because maybe life then will be better. When you loved someone once you will hold this person in your heart your whole life. You will have memories with them. Sometimes memories are really helpful. For example on a worst day you will remember these good times and imagine that one day in the future will be good. The same situation is with things, money or friends.. Be thankful for the things you have. But when you miss something or someone and you keep in your mind, just believe that some day in the future you will get this again. Because history repeats itself. \"I never feel confined by gender, by labels, by expectations, by stereotypes. I'm free to be myself.\" -Princess Nokia
My Online Teaching Experience By Nasreen Bazaz, CHILPARCO INTERNATIONAL Parenting Mentor Mrs. Nasreen Bazaz is working as a senior I.T. teaching faculty at Presentation Convent Hr. Sec. School, Srinagar, since the last 20 years. I am highly honored to be a part of the Presentation family. Being a teacher in such a prestigious institution, I am proud of the fact that I am a continuous learner as well. It was a very stressful moment for me when we got the order to conduct online classes from our homes through a video conferencing app, Zoom. Since the entire country got into a complete lock down, so we could understand the importance of our prestigious institution’s commitment to the cause to stand by our students. Consequently, I prepared myself to accept the challenge, leaving all other domestic concerns aside to understand the technical intricacies and get to work as per the requirement and directions from my institution. I immediately got attuned with the programme and started conducting the classes right on time. I admit that on the first day I had a little nervousness, but as the moments unfolded during my first class itself,
I got well conversed with the programme and started feeling a kind of enjoyment while delivering my lectures to the students. The day which had started with a little anxiety ended with a refreshing enthusiasm to get deep into this new method of teaching which at every moment gave me a good learning experience. In the subsequent classes it used to be a thrilling experience as, while teaching my students, I at the same time was getting richer by gaining more digital knowledge and expertise. This again was a great experience as, while exchanging the methodology I got an abundance of new techniques to learn from our well qualified and highly experienced faculty. While conducting these classes with our faculty, I could feel that we all were enjoying while getting acquainted with the nuances of the programme. I am thankful to the administration of our institution for taking up this challenging exercise, which on the one hand took us to the doorstep of our students, engaging them into this highly useful digital process to complete the syllabus and on the other hand helped us and the students to pass the otherwise tiring, lockdown period peacefully and enjoyably. This process didn’t let our students suffer by losing their precious time in this worldwide pandemic and we too enjoyed ourselves immensely while working on the project. \"I just wanted to kind of break down those gender stereotypes and just say everyone's equal, everyone's their own person, everyone's their own individual.\" -Little Simz
My Experiences As A Student By Sugandh Saneja Sugandh Saneja is currently pursing my studies towards Japanese language at the proficiency level. She graduated as a commerce student from Delhi University. She loves to draw Mandalas and spend time with various hobbies like driving, playing badminton, travelling, reading, etc. Have you ever wondered how often we reflect on our past experiences. Each human being on Earth has a different story to tell and these stories are nothing but their erstwhile experiences. However, the most surreal and magnificent being, your experience as a student! What you experience and learn as students makes you the individual being in society as a grown up. Hence, it's commonly quoted; “Never stop being a student!” I recall my experiences back in school. As a student, I was sincere, hardworking and had the desire to meet all my deadlines with as much excellence as possible. I owe what I’m today to my parents, my school and my well-wishers who have always supported me in all my good and bad times. Coming from an international school, I had the opportunity to learn with students across the globe and had the exposure to relative cultural understanding at a very young age.
I was offered numerous experiences not just in the arena of academics and co- curriculars to shape my personality but also in social work and across boundaries. Taking up Japanese as a school subject and being an active participant in all its events, I developed a passion for the language which was stretched to a point that I’m still a passionate student of this language and Japan’s culture even today! I was blessed with an opportunity to visit Japan for a cultural learning. I presented programmes in school and that grew my love not just for the country and its language but also for foreign cultures and international learning. This was supported by the opportunity to host Japanese guests twice and dig into their culture at a deep root level. Social work and tasks helped me to evolve as a sensitive person and understand the needs of society. It made me become a more grateful person. \"We don't often talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes but I can see that they are and that when they are free, things wil change for women as a natural consequence. -Emma Watson
Special Children - Special Education BY MS. RUMEET DUTTA, Special Educator, USA Ms. Rumeet Lives in DC Washington Area USA. She has been working as an IT Professional Consultant for the last 20 years now. Rumeet loves to make new friends enjoys traveling, hiking and reading. Education enables every child in this world to successfully develop to their fullest potential. Alone and left out, kids with special needs have this feeling all the time. They are sometimes excluded by their peers in both academic and extracurricular activities. Thinking back to our own childhood or teenager experiences, we were rejected or not invited to a party making us feel the same isolation, confusion, sadness, and painful emotions. Special education can provide kids with identified disabilities to meet their unique learning needs, giving them the opportunity to develop and gain high level of independence. Special education should be designed to ensure children are provided a safe environment that allows them to be educated effectively. Special children need to feel like they belong to the school community same as their peers. Give all special kids a chance to succeed. It should be clear that children with disabilities have the right to be a part of regular classroom programs, have accommodations made for them, get individualized support and attention to reach their academic and social developments goals.
Special students always need a different approach on their outcomes instead on inputs, Effective general education, Ensure children can read, Extra instructional time each day for those who struggle, Focus support on health, safety, and their behavior rather than on their academic needs, Provide high quality programs to children with more severe needs. Being a parent to a special child can be very hard and challenging. Parenting a special child with extra needs is like a marathon. It can cause a lot of unexpected stress when your child is struggling and doubt your parenting abilities. As a parent of a special need child, I have always focused on my child’s strengths rather on her weaknesses. Raising a special child requires lot of time, energy, and resources but we always think life success rather than school success. Tips for parents to special children Self-awareness and self-confidence. Being Proactive Set goals Being supportive and positivism. Ask for help when needed Ability to handle stress. We are not perfect but that is okay. Join support network to connect with other parents Always remember “you know your child better than anyone”. It is very important to listen to professionals, but you are the only one who knows what is best for your child.
Nations around the world are becoming aware of the importance of special education. Many countries have their children with disabilities excluded from a normal school program. Developing countries are attempting to develop family or community-centered programs for special education and these programs have been shown to be successful. Integrating students with disabilities into the normal school program of education can improve the learning outcomes for all children. Such children bring diversity and strength to the classroom. They challenge the system to provide better ways to educate all the kids. By allowing these special kids to be part of the community from the very beginning of their learning experience can help us lay the foundation of acceptance and generosity for generations. \"Metal has always been somewhat marginalized, and I love to prove the perception and stereotypes that go with it wrong.\" -Eddie Trunk
ONLINE EDUCATION---A LIFE LINER by Ms. Monica Khanna B.Sc. Medical GNDU Certified Medical Transcriptionist CHILAPARCO INTERNATIONAL PARENTING MENTOR Knowledge is power and there is no age limit to gather more knowledge. In fact, “The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge” - Stephen Hawking The traditional mode of education is when a teacher directs students to learn through memorization and recitation techniques thereby stifling the creative mode of thinking of students. Based on a pre-set system of curriculum set up by government---the traditional system of education needs to be updated. The current pandemic changed the course of life globally. Forced to stay indoors and practice social-distancing became the new normal norm. Man being quessentially a social animal was worst effected psychologically.
Outdoor activities were hampered and people took refuge to internet for education, business and leisure. The pandemic had an unprecedented effect on the education system. There was a sudden surge of online- courses. Some students were quick to adapt to this system while others took a little longer time to acquaint with this new system. Some teething problems like leveraging technology were there. However online education offered a myriad of advantages for people. Cost effective, flexible timings, freedom from commuting long journeys to reach an institute were a few of them. Online education proved to be a boon for the elder section of the society and females. People were free to learn and explore a wide range of subjects irrespective of their age. A variety of online courses were initially offered free of cost that lured people globally. Their dream universities were now available at the click of a button. Education platform like Coursera offered world-wide university courses. Even a home-maker like me who was a science student took a different course offered by Dr Barbara Oakley and Dr Terence Sejnowski from University of Chicago “Learning how to learn”. It opened a whole new world to me. I was learning something new sitting in the premises of my home according to my own schedule. It gave me confidence and boosted my self-motivation. Many middle-aged people have jumped on the e-learning bandwagon. Sparking new friendships globally, online education has created a new platform for middle-aged people to learn’ interact and broaden their horizons. In fact, sparking in them a zeal to achieve what seemed impossible with traditional mode of education. It is not that it has been a smooth sailing for all. Technical difficulties do hamper the progress. In developing countries like India where connectivity is either poor or not available buffering is irritating. The need of the hour is to improve broad-band plans and make online education more accessible by handling technical issues. \"There's a difference between being yourself and being your stereotype.\" -Iggy Azalea
WHAT IS REAL EDUCATION? BY MS. RASHI SANGHERA Education, when asked to be defined, can be explained as an act of teaching in an institutional setting. But is education limited to an institution? If education is nothing but learning and garnering knowledge, do we stop learning once we step outside? Of course not education is not restricted to an institution. It must not be. And it most certainly is not confined to the pages of a textbook. We are all educators and students. The roles, interchangeable yet one cannot exist outside these boundaries. One cannot escape education because what are you if not an animal, without the capacities to raise you above them. Your etiquettes, manners, language, behaviors are all part of a pre-existing education system, one that separates you from other beings. While everything is a part of education, which teachers are the greatest guiding force? The past, not just mine or yours, but everyone's. We look back at the lessons of our ancestors with awe and fear, hoping to understand their steps while following our aspirations. The past makes an excellent teacher if one pays close attention to the lessons it has prepared. Failure as an end or a beginning is often limited to a perspective. Learn something and one opens another myriad of possibilities to tread the path and near the goals. Admit defeat and it leaves one in the rubble fretting over what was and could have been.
If the past is a calm, patient teacher, failure becomes the brash and hard-handed one. Together, balancing each other out, they would be remarkable. Yet nothing is in such harmony and that too must be learnt. In the grey spectrum of our existence, there lies the unity, a balance of realization and designation. The past failures must never be forgotten, for they keep the ground beneath the feet while letting one fly among the clouds grazing the cheeks of success. In the end, both teach something but only to the one deserving. The lines blur between the past and present by the acceptance that we learn from their failures and others learn from ours. In hindsight, one might explain it as a never-ending cycle- the past lessons teach the present of hope for a bright future. Education does not stop. No matter how experienced or old, no man can say they have learned everything. We learn from each moment of our life as it never stops, much like time. Because education is not limited to the classroom. \"I am a rare species, not a stereotype.\" -Ivan E. Coyote
Travel Diary By Dr. Madhu Bhatnagar Academician, Director Dubai Chilparco International \"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” - Saint Augustine I have always been enchanted by world heritage sites and never miss an opportunity to visit them. In 2010, my husband was posted in Seoul, South Korea, a beautiful East Asian Nation. It was just there I came to know about Jeju Island which boasts of having volcanic lava tubes and in 2007, UNESCO declared it as a natural world heritage site. Grabbing this opportunity, I made a plan to visit the island along with my family. I booked early morning tickets of Asiana Airlines to Jeju from Seoul and two rooms in Astar hotel located in Jeju Island. From the cave we proceeded towards Jeju Maze Park located in the same area. The green maze is created with thickets of evergreen local bushes. The walk through the maze became challenging when we wended our way to exit but could not locate it even after 45 minutes. I started getting anxious. Luckily, I saw Chinese tourists who were also lost in the maze and were trying to get help from other members of their group standing on a foot over bridge located near this maze. They guided their Chinese fellow members towards the exit gate.
I also followed these tourists blindly and heaved a sigh of relief after coming out. I pledged never to enter any maze for the rest of my life. By the time we came out of the maze we were exhausted and wanted to break for lunch. So we asked the cab driver to take us to a restaurant where we could try some local Jeju food. He took us to ‘Olle Market’ and suggested us to have “Heuk Dwaeji Gui” which is actually a black pig BBQ, a delicacy in Jeju Island. Since most of us are vegetarians, only my son in law could relish this dish. We placed the order for “Bibimbap”, a South Korean dish made up of rice, bean sprouts, pepper and lots of greens garnished with sunny side up egg yolk and served in an earthen pot. For dessert we had Udo Peanut ice-cream (Udo is an island near Jeju where special peanuts are grown).Post lunch we proceeded to “Jeju Folklore and National History Museum” to gain some understanding of Jeju’s culture and history. The museum displays various objects ranging from natural historical items to 3D way to traditional tools, ritual materials used by farmers and other locals there. By evening we came back to the hotel. Next day was planned to visit some of the museums there. First of all we went to the picturesque Glass Castle and were mesmerized by the magic forest scenery displaying the range of big chariots to small pollen grains made up of only glass. I felt as if I had landed in a fairyland. From there we went to “Teddy bear” museum. It was a very cute place to view the teddy bears in lifelike poses wearing different costumes. The museum displayed the historical events and figures like Monalisa on one side and Mahatma Gandhi on other side. The statues of newly married teddy bears caught everyone’s attention and naturally we could not miss clicking the picture there. While visiting the museums we came across huge fields of blooming Sunflowers, Hydrangea, etc. The third day we started our trip to “Cheonjiyeon Waterfall”, a well known tourist place. It had incredibly clear blue fresh water falling into the sea. One can appreciate the mixing of fresh and saline water due to its different colour. The whole place looked calm and serene. We spent half a day there admiring its natural beauty. From a local shop we bought \"Dol Hareubang\" as a souvenir. It is actually a stone couple made up of volcanic rock. The weather was getting hot so we ate mandarins. The lunch comprised pure vegan jeju cuisine. We had lotus leaf rice, namul (spinach and kohlrabi leaves in soya sauce) along with vegan kimchi. We had a short but wonderful trip and we all still cherish the fond memory of Jeju island. \"A chic type-a rough type-an odd type, but never a stereotype.\" -Jean Michel Jarre
