SACRED HEART SCHOOL BAHRAIN WISHES OUR BELOVED LEADERSHIP ALL THE LOVE AND LOYALTY

VISION & MISSION Educational Excellence to transform the world in ‘Love and Truth.’ The Education imparted by the Apostolic Carmel is geared towards the achievement of the highest standards of intellectual, spiritual, personal and ethical excellence by using the creative skills of the 21st Century and enhancing lifelong learning, paving a pathway to be responsible citizens equipped to work for the transformation of society in ‘Love and Truth’ within the global community.

THE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE \"Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow”. Anthony J. D'Angelo The world is always changing, but never has a transformation been more pronounced than since the start of the Pandemic. If there is anything that the Pandemic highlighted most of all, it is our need to change, grow and adapt to a different world. Our duty as educators have always been to prepare our students for their life after school. Very often, we get confused about what this entails. We instruct students in Math, Chemistry, Geography and encourage them to run, dance and sing. We emphasize their performance in tests, examinations, and competitions. But, the Pandemic brought the crux of our collective duty as Educators to the fore, which is to inculcate in our students the passion for lifelong learning. Learning does not stop after an Assessment. Learning does not end after school, or college or even at the workplace. As a case in point, the Staff at Sacred Heart School, has done a fantastic job at learning new technology and skills to adapt to Online Schooling. And thus, it is not the content, but the tools of learning that we provide to our students; tools like critical thinking, emotional intelligence, creativity and cognitive skills that will transform our students into life-long learners. These tools will make them inquiring, independent, and truly global citizens. I would like to congratulate the young artists, poets and writers for their concerted effort, innovative ideas and creative expressions on the pages of this E-magazine. My grateful thanks to the Editorial team for their hard work and self-sacrificing spirit. With God’s blessings Sister Roselyn Thomas A.C.

THE EDITOR'S MESSAGE My hearty congratulations to the organizers of assemblies, competitions etc. for opening a window to showcase students’ talents. The 2nd issue of the E-magazine was spectacular! You all deserve a pat on the back for the magnificent work you produced and for putting your views skillfully , creatively and convincingly. The Parents’ appreciation letters to the Principal were a real boost to the teachers. They sure did a fantastic job to praise the efforts of the Staff in this time of the Pandemic. The 3rd issue of the E-magazine is almost ready for publication. Thanks to the articles sent in by the students, and the long hours spent by the IT Department and Editorial Team. You can read the different segments and familiarize yourself with the interests of our students. The choreographers have done a wonderful job and added colour to the new edition. They surely made the E-magazine look awesome! May God Bless Sacred Heart School! Mrs. Selma Mendonca

S T A Y S A F As I sat in my home E Looking out of the window I hadn’t combed my hair For it really didn’t matter, and I had nowhere to go. I had learnt to keep myself busy with books, toys and make shift games. My best friends were my pet birds And my playmates were my folks. Good things do come around People getting better, people being there for one another. The days are now looking beautiful With a new hope and more laughter. We have the vaccine and a new normal, to keep us safe. The rules keep changing but, In the end my friend, Wash, sanitize your hands and stay safe! Mia Fernandes Jr. 1C

Life is really beautiful, Aliena Jacob Sometimes rain, sometimes sunshine, Accept whatever comes your way, Jr. 2A Then everything will be fine! There may be some thorns in the way, But there will also be flowers, There will be hospitable, smiling huts, So why bother about those frowning towers? Don’t be afraid of the darkness, Look, there is always a safe place by dawn! Amidst the cacophony of crying crows, There is the serene song sung by the swan. Everything doesn’t happen as per your wish, Who doesn’t suffer the adversity’s wrath? With a smiling face and singing lips, Go on moving on your chosen path. And live your life to the fullest without any regrets, As the angel assigned to you from Heaven is always there by your side.

SHARKDOG There was a boy named Jack. One day, he went to the beach and played. When he was playing, he saw a magical Shark land near him. First, he was afraid, later became friends. He named it as Sharkdog. Jack’s Parents wouldn't allow pets to play near. They sneaked in the house and they slept. Next morning, breakfast was fish sticks. Jack didn't like fish sticks. He gave them to Sharkdog. He ate it. Mom and Dad had gone fishing at the beach. Jack also went and took Sharkdog with him. There was a shark hunter called Miss Vee. She was looking for a magical shark. Miss Vee said to Jack, “You look familiar”. Jack went looking for Sharkdog who jumped in the water. Sharkdog made friends in the water. At night, they came back home. Mom and Dad watched TV and Jack made his baby sister sleep. Next morning , breakfast was pasta. “Humm yummy tasty pasta’’ said Sharkdog. Jack called his friends and showed Sharkdog to them. They planned a prank on Jacks’ Parents. When Jack’s Parents were at the beach, they hid Sharkdog. At night, Jack’s friends enjoyed the sleep over. Next morning, they had breakfast, It was apple pie. That morning, the Parents saw Sharkdog with Jack. They were surprised, but not angry. From then on, they all lived happily. Hari Joshi Jr. 2B

God put breath into our bodies and gave us life, without which we cannot live! Each of us has a different story to tell about the kind of life we live. Well, here is mine. I am only 8 years old and my life in short, is beautiful! Beautiful because of all the things God has provided for me and my family! It is never the same for everyone! Some people are sad, some are happy, some are rich and some are poor, some are very sick and some are healthy. Sadly that is life! However, if each one of us try to focus on what we have and not what we do not have, we can live a happy life. I know it is easy to say this, but hard to do. So, this is what God expects us to do - to reach out to those who are struggling and help them to see life in a different way! When we feel the love of people around us, see the beauty in the world around us and count our blessings, we all can see life differently. LEYA RAJKUMAR Jr. 3C

My One day, I had a dream. In my dream, I was standing in a hilly area with beautiful greenery around. My dream takes me through lovely lakes, waterfalls, hills, mountains, tea plantations and paddy fields… Such a beautiful land! I wondered! I decided to learn more about nature. Suddenly, I woke up and realized that it was a short dream! Even though I live in Bahrain, my homeland is Kerala, a natural paradise in India popularly known as “God’s own Country”. I was thinking of my vacation days and eventually it appeared in my dream. But, I realize that each country and region has its own natural treasures different from each other. We can experience different varieties of life and culture in different parts of the world. Let us try to learn more about them. It will make our journey called life more exciting! By 6 am, we met at our place, and then we went directly to Dumestan Beach. The weather was nice. We had our breakfast first, we ate egg sandwich, marshmallow on hotdog and our parents ate one of the most popular Filipino food called “lugaw” or “porridge”. After breakfast, we went swimming. The water was so clear, but there were a lot of stones under it , but still we enjoyed our swimming. It's really fun to swim with your friends. By 10:30 am, we had our lunch and then we went to visit the Karzakan Forest. The forest was so beautiful and we even got the chance to eat ice-cream. English is the language of science, aviation, computer, diplomacy and tourism, knowing English increases your chances of getting a good job. As the world has become a small place where people from all over the world can easily communicate using the English Language. The Evolution of Spoken English began from the 5th Century with waves of attack and eventual occupation by the Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Frisians. They spoke the same West Germanic Tongue but with different dialects. The English Language was invented in London though Netherlands has emerged as the nations with the highest English Language Proficiency. There are four phases in the English Language. They are: Old English, Middle English, Modern English and finally Social Media Language

Old English is also known as Anglo-Saxons which is derived from the names of two Germanic tribes that invaded England during the 5th Century. The most famous work of Old English literature is the epic poem “Beowulf”. Old English is very different from Modern English. Examples of Old English Literature were: Thou, thee, thine, thy, thyself, ye, and you. Middle English was a form of the English Language spoken after the Norman Conquest until the late 15 Century, the English Language underwent distinct variations and developments following the Old English period. Middle English saw significant changes to vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and orthology. This largely formed the basis for Modern English spelling, although pronunciation has changed considerably since that time. Modern English also known as “New English” began in the late 14th Century and was completed in roughly 1550. There are many dialects of Modern English spoken in English English, American English, Australian English, Welsh English etc. With some difference in vocabulary, texts from the early 17th Century, such as the works of William Shakespeare and The King James Bible, are considered to be in Modern English, or more specifically, are referred to as using Early Modern English or Elizabethan English. The beauty of nature is not only greenery, actually almost everything you see around you is the beauty of nature, like, birds, flowers, mountains, forests, plants, animals, we humans and in fact even air, all these are a part of the beauty of nature. Have any of you ever realized how we, human beings depend on it for everything and every time. with A sibling is a lens through which you see your childhood. Siblings are like branches in a tree. They grow in different directions, yet their roots remain as one. They say that no matter how old you become, when you are with your siblings, you revert back to childhood. There can be no better companion than a brother, and a no better friend than a sister. I have 3 sisters and a brother. I am Neha, age-11, my sisters are Hannah, age-9, Sarah, age-6 and Leah, age-7 months, my little brother is Johan, age-2. So as you can see I am the oldest. One morning, my parents said they had to go somewhere and would only come back at night. I was petrified thinking of handling four little naughty kids all on my own. I knew then and there, that I would not be able to take care of them. My mom said that I would be fine and they would be little angels. The previous time, I was left alone with them, they were the exact opposite. When my parents left home, I thought they would play a prank on me or they would do something bad, but I was in for a surprise. They actually were behaving themselves. I don’t know what they had got into them, but I liked it. The rest of the day they studied, played games and we also did some painting. Since they were so good, I decided to have a picnic in the backyard. We ate sandwiches, apples and also had some mango juice. After an hour we went inside and watched a movie. When it was time to go to bed, I tucked all of them in bed and had a good night’s rest. The conclusion is that even though your siblings trouble you, doesn’t mean they don’t love you. I would never be able to live without them. Neha Thomas Jr. 6B

They say the sky is the limit, but what if it isn’t? What if, there were animals that could talk? What if, there were real-life genies? What if, escalators were monsters and the railings were their weapons, which had spikes that could go up and down? Yup. That was me. My mind soaring through the zillion possibilities. That’s my imagination for you. A wild one. One cool Tuesday night, I prepared to go to bed. As I was drifting off to sleep, I hear some knocking. It continued until I finally opened my eyes. I looked towards the window. The moonlight was streaming through it, but, that wasn’t what I was looking at. There was a peculiar thing, that’s silhouette was the only thing shown. Slowly, I crept out of bed and approached the window. Now, it looked like an odd creature. I grabbed my hairbrush and opened the window. We both screamed. I screamed because there was a purple creature with three eyes and two pointy things on top of its head. The creature probably screamed because I had thrown my hairbrush at it. “What are you?” I whispered. “Hello, nice hairbrush. I’m Melay and I’d like to talk to you, Tamara.” I almost freaked out. “How do you know my name?” “My people and I have been keeping an eye on you. You’re a special one. In fact, they’d like to meet you right now.” She started climbing down. I saw a ladder and climbed out too. She led me to the backyard where there was a huge object, what you’d call an alien spaceship.

When I entered it, I then understood what Melay 1. A piano meant by her type of people. There were loads of aliens 2. A shadow like Melay, except that they had different colours and 3. A door handle each one of them had a different body structure. A cyan 4. It’s the spare tyre one with one eye who was sitting on a high chair, got up 5. It’s a glove! and came towards me. “Hello, Tamara. Welcome. Now, 6. His car door let’s cut to the chase.” As I walked back to my house, 7. Stop imagining now! about to climb up to my room, I processed it all again. So, the aliens were an organization that I wanted to be part of them and spy on potential threats? When I closed the window and turned to my bed, I had another shock. There were five evil looking aliens with black masks, pointing guns at me. Suddenly, I woke up with a start. It was a dream. Just a dream! I sighed with relief and went to a non-alien sleep. My imagination can really get to me sometimes. Tamanna Daniel Jr. 6A
