Memory Lane I only have good things to reminisce about from my four-year-long, light-years-esque odyssey at PIET. In this journey, I witnessed some of the most real phenomena of nature. From the northern lights shining in Arbuda to the glittering Oasis in every lecture I attended, I was fortunate enough to see it all. It all seems surreal now, looking at it in hindsight. I am not going to pretend as if it was all hunky-dory. Yes, there were a lot of detours and way too many regrets. (One of them must be me not even coming close to becoming a Jedi and/or a wizard.) Many shoulda woulda coulda. Things I would want to set straight and do differently given a chance, but all that matters is that even if I would never be able to redo those things differently, I will always be able to learn from the things I did the way I did. I am nothing but grateful to every professor I learned from, every place I visited, and every friend I made during this journey. And I wish that everyone who leaves or has left is grateful too. I hope that the lessons I learned will help me become a Jedi or a wizard someday in the next journey that awaits me. Lastly, to everyone who has completed the journey or is set to complete it: May the force be with us, always! VISHRUTH JOSHI System Analyst, Infosys When I arrived at the Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology, I was just an average introvert student with big dreams. This college gave me the perfect environment and opportunities to make me a better version of myself. These four years in college made me a better person professionally as well as personally. I am thankful to all the faculties, seniors and the whole management of the Poornima group for all the knowledge, unique opportunities, pre-placement training and preparations which helped me to evolve as a better person, to get a good job as a software engineer and later to crack the Merchant navy entrance exam as well as interview to be an Electro-Technical Ofcer in merchant ships. AJAY KUMAR Alumni, PIET My experience in PIET has been both educational and fun. I have met and made so many friends and interacted with seniors and juniors. The college lives up to everything it offers. Two of the most important things I can honestly say that, students grasp through the engineering are a head start on college goals and a more concrete idea of careers of the future. The journey of engineering has truly been exhilarating and wonderful. I would like to thank PIET and CSE department and my peers for being so supportive and helping me throughout to develop my personality thereby making what I am today. The faculty and college management have been very helpful as well. I wish this institution goes on doing great stuff and help students achieve their dreams. HARLEEN KAUR Application Developer UI - GBS ASE at IBM Annual Magazine 2020-21 99 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

As mere kids who graduated school, the 40 some months at college cultivated us with moral engagements eventually lending us the lens to perceive an intellectual understanding of the world out there. I now reect on those lessons back in the dull classroom benches and realize how we fell on deaf ears for all of that was silently coming along and all of that which now helps us understand the bigger picture. PIET, to me, has been all about learning to set less important priorities over more important ones and still be able to ace it, learning to rise and more remarking rising after a fall, learning to make a special position, if not in the society, then probably in the good books of those we have always looked up to. So besides engaging with this remote rapid development, ya'll college goers (for a more informal expression, put in italics), get yourself to persuade and pursue the choice that you have made for yourself. Own that choice and be the captain of your own ship. All hats off to the remarkable faculty staff at the department, phenomenal lot of seniors and excellent juniors for all the best and not-best times I've learnt, grown and shared. VARUCHI Asst. System Engineer TATA Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. My experience in Poornima Group of Institutions has been an amazing one it was a roller coaster journey for me. I have learned many new skills and it provided me platform to upgrade my existing skillset. Not only limited to my academics but also all other extracurricular activities be it going for hackathons or participation in dancing competition and icing on the cake was to win it and be on the rst position. Although there were attendance criteria but balancing it through out my engineering and still be able to enjoy this journey to the fullest. Also made some beautiful bonds for lifetime. The faculties were always there to encourage and support the students for all activities. And lastly, I would also like to give a piece of advice to my wonderful juniors that indulge in all the activities going out there in or outside the college and not only prioritize your academics but also all other elds too. ANKIT KALYA Infosys TCoE SAP Tester When we entered the phases of Lockdown at the beginning of this pandemic, I personally didn't expect that it'll affect our lives so much, nor did I knew its impact on our Professional Life. This last year has taught us a lot, beginning from Virtually experiencing our work life to balancing Personal Life and working hours which was never a problem with In-Ofce presence earlier. I myself completed my Post Graduate during this Pandemic and continued online learning with Faculties sitting at different places altogether, not just that, even the MNC's and start-ups incorporated the Idea of Virtual Internships during this time, from 100% Virtual On-Boarding to Online team learning sessions, all of it was possible only because of this technology. This Pandemic taught us to take many precautions, and also it gave us an opportunity to innovate and adapt to the new World Change. Poornima itself is an example of this Change going around. “Time ies’ like an arrow”. The days I spent at PIET were exactly like this proverb. MyP classmates and me have put a great deal of painstaking efforts into studies and all our energy into unforgettable events and activities. Unlike its relaxing surroundings, academic life at this College has been lled with learning challenging. My rst year in this College was ooded with assignments, quizzes, presentation, papers and exams. However, with the guidance from enthusiastic teachers all the efforts made by me were rewarded at last. It was a great experience studying at PIET College, a memory to cherish for lifetime. My experience at PIET was full of learning and grooming. My days at PIET reminds me of the colorful stage, the vibrant classrooms and the super supportive faculty. The entire faculty and department leave no stone unturned to shape one's future. It's their efforts that make me to count myself into better professionals. College made me the person who I am today… Bold & condent…!! At This College I gained friendship and experiences which added a different perspective to my life. When I reminisce about my four years of college life in PIET, I see the transferable set of competencies that got build up over a period of time in me. I will denitely not talk about the knowledge piece here but I would like to talk about the skills and mindsets that help to raise the bar of excellence. And when I hark back to my journey of four years I think skills like strategic planning, optimism, coaching, managing self and time got developed at grass root level that certainly played a vital role post graduation. We don’t grow when things are easy, we grow when we face challenges.” I resonate completely with this adage. And those four years were challenging. They escalated me on the learning curve and led to my personal development. When I say challenging I talk about those series of tests in each semester that build the knowledge and pedagogy, I also talk about the interventions that college had for personal development classes (mock interviews, classes in each semester etc). I also talk about the opportunities available in four years to hone the skills- fest (cultural + technical) and workshops. It is easy to whine for things that we didn’t get access to but do we really make best use of the ones that were available to us? The most important thing I learnt was that there is no shortcut to success. The carbon needs to be cut, burnt, pressurized and nally polished to become a diamond. We should have dreams and we should work hard to fulll those dreams. AMIT SHARMA Senior Designer in NK Buildcon I IMESSAGE Thanks to all the Teams collaborating with Poornima Panorama, and the respected faculty members for keeping the spirit high in such times. My best wishes to Simranjeet Sir, and Priya Ma'am for always guiding me in the right direction during graduation. Glad to be part of the Poornima Group. Cheers :) #StaySafe Annual Magazine 2020-21 101 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

Department of First Year “The Covid-19 pandemic is certainly the next big thing in world history and sure to ind a place among the milestones marking mankind’s calendar” Disaster is a laboratory for innovation. During a war, or in the consequences of an Dr Sama Jain earthquake, Flood, cloud burst, drought, the whole societies or common man get HOD, First Year activated to face the direct and indirect challenges, while a group of researchers looks for a way to transform the disaster into advances that will improve lives, or save lives, in the future. The global COVID-19 pandemic is also such type of challenge. The Covid-19 pandemic is certainly the next immense thing in world history and certainly to ind a place among the milestones for mankind’s calendar. It is true that technology will not be capable to avoid the onset of a pandemic; but, it can help out in managing a crisis more effectively in such a progressive way with minimum losses to human being and nature for sustainable survival. We know how adversely COVID-19 has impacted our lives at different personal, social and professional stages. During this time of absolute uncertainty and invariable panic, our readiness and dependency to adopt technology becomes our lifeline. Epidemics and pandemics have been bullying the human race again and again. SARS, H1N1, Ebola and more have shown their teeth in the past, but with each such outbreak; we are learning new ways of ighting and managing such unexpected diseases that can potentially kill millions of people around the globe. Technology has affected our lives in the current COVID-19 pandemic at different levels. Five most familiar and accepted areas in Indian context are discussed at this point Distance Learning during Pandemic in India : The COVID-19 has resulted in schools close all across the world. Globally, over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom. As a result, education has changed signi icantly with the unique increase of e-learning adaptability, where teaching and learning is governed on digital platforms. When educational institutes closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has been encouraging online education to attain academic stability. Mostly educational institutions at Public and private sectors have started using online platforms such as Zoom, Google classrooms, Microsoft teams, etc., while many still ind it a complicated assignment. The challenges of online education are versatile. It is time that we Indians, as a society, understand the realms of online education – in India, for India. There are de initely some challenges to online learning. Some students without reliable internet access and/or technology struggle to participate in digital learning. E-learning requires 40-60% less time to learn than in a traditional classroom setting because students can learn at their own pace. Online Entertainment during Pandemic in India : It has been a year that most of us have stayed at home, with masks becoming a part of life and work from home becoming the new normal. In times like this, ilms, TV and OTT became our means to escape, allowing us to forget that we are in the middle of a pandemic for a few moments. The entertainment industry, however, was badly impacted too – theatres closed down, shootings were halted, TV shows were cancelled and daily wage workers wondered where their next meals were coming from. Annual Magazine 2020-21 127 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

Over The Top (OTT) platforms are gaining acceptance among viewers in the country, with an increasing number of ilm makers opting to stream movies on this medium since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic last year. Earlier, the OTT platforms were limited to cities. However, now it is available in every corner of even villages. And the results are there for everyone to see. Technology-Based Temperature Monitoring : The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought rigorous challenges to public health and has attracted great attention from the research and health care communities. Most patients infected with COVID-19 will have fever. Therefore, the monitoring of body temperature has become one of the most important bases for pandemic prevention and testing. So, the measurement of body temperature is the most direct through the Forehead Thermometer, but the measurement speed is relatively slow. The cost of fast-checking body temperature measurement equipment, such as infrared body temperature detection and face recognition temperature machine, is too high, and it is dif icult to build Disease Surveillance System (DSS). To solve the above-mentioned problems, the Intelligent pandemic prevention Temperature Measurement System (ITMS) and Pandemic Prevention situation Analysis System (PPAS) are proposed across the globe by researchers. Work From Home (WFH) : Almost exactly one and half year ago, COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. And then the unbelievable happened in working culture. Companies right away close their of ices and employees were asked to work from home (WFH) for an inde inite period. While, at irst, many employees and employers thought distant working would inish with the passing of the pandemic, but now it seems somehow different. The payback of distant working is different for both organizations and their employees. For employers, there are no ixed costs, globalised recruitment, and the option to hire from anywhere. For employees, WFH means working from the comfort of your place of choice, no travel time, and improved ef iciency. Fitness & Health Apps : At the start of 2020, itness centers were doing good business across the globe as people were looking to get in better shape. And then, the immense COVID-19 spread forced these community-based centers to shut. Thanks to the age of digitalization that provides us an easy access to health applications and other platforms that simplify our monitoring to itness regimes. In the present situation, schooling alongside the executives goes about as a fruitful ground to foster pioneering abilities, autonomous reasoning, and capacity to spot openings, hazard taking capacity, and at last turning into a resource in the ield of designing. For understudies iguring out how to become engineers growing up as fruitful business visionaries, a decent mix of hypothetical establishing and reasonable openness and association with business visionaries could be an aid. In Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology, a few measures are being taken to inbuilt trust in their thoughts, homeroom instruction along modern preparing openness are the critical highlights of PIET. The excellence of schooling lies in the Dr. Gautam Singh measure of brilliant work contributed. Chief Proctor & Registrar The solid assurance of each individual PIETIAN lies in the achievement proportion of each individual character related with the administration of Poornima. The instruction area, by empowering enterprising soul could itself become a set up development industry. What's more, subsequently, we here at PIET lourish to give a chasing ground to ind the stowed away sprouting designing business visionaries from among the generally scholastically capable yield of understudies. Annual Magazine 2020-21 128 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

A few workshops are led and seen like clockwork for the understudies of PIET beginning from the principal year to the last year. The principle saying of this drive is to teach each necessary expertise in the student so he can look for information from each and every source present around him. By having openness to these practices, understudies can get inclined to learning and applying information essentially. Development on the other angle has the noticeable potential to enhance essentially everything. It doesn't generally need to be of inancial worth which is the principle apparent explanation that it assumes a crucial part in the ield of designing. It is a critical driver for expanding expectations for everyday comforts and personal satisfaction. With a similar belief system, we solidly have faith in taking forward a similar tradition of not getting best from others however our own self. Furthermore, effectively looking for each chance coming in the manner and giving out the best and fruitful yields. DEPARTMENT’S PEN CRAFT In our country educational institutions (schools, colleges, and universities) are mainly based only on traditional methods of classroom teaching, that is, they have face-to-face interactive lectures in a classroom. Although many academic units have also started blended learning, still a many of them are stuck with old methods and not getting much outputs. The sudden outbreak of a deadly disease called Covid-19 caused by a Corona Virus (SARS-CoV-2) shook the entire world. This pandemic challenged the education system across the world and forced teachers and students to shift to an online mode of teaching. Students can take bene it of Online Learning (Opportunity) • Ef iciency • Accessibility of Time and Place • Affordability • Attendance • Suits a Variety of Learning Styles They can also feel like, (Challenges) • Inability to Focus on Screens • Technology Issues • Sense of Isolation • Manage Screen Time Many academic institutions that were earlier reluctant to change their traditional pedagogical approach had no option but to shift entirely on online teaching–learning. Students will ind from the article importance of online learning and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, & Challenges (SWOC). Students need not loose with pandemic, grow and learn with time. “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think” -Albert Einstein Department of First Year provides a strong footing to the students in First Year of the Engineering where students get acquainted with wide range of basic science and technical subjects and gets hands on experience on various instruments. This inculcates con idence and makes them ready for the task ahead by developing their logical and analytical skills, which will help them to prosper further in their career. To improve the overall academics of students Department of First Year follows different practices like Quizzes, Pre Mid Term Test, Revision Classes, and Remedial Classes for weak students. To nurture the students the department organizes Conferences and Workshops time to time, runs non syllabus project scheme where each student gets an opportunity to develop project so that their innovative and managerial skills can also be improved in the First Year itself. The departments run various club under its venture to grow students in all directions. To develop human ethics in the students the department follows best practices like Social Visits, Swacchata Pakhwara, Blood Donation Camp, Village visits etc. Arshad Ali Assistant Professor Department of First Year TODAY'S NEED: SMART MATERIALS Wise design is a framework that contains numerous useful segments that can bode well, control, and execution; is an antiquated simple of the living body. Brilliant structure materials are utilized to construct these shrewd structures, which can perform both tangible and useful functions. \"I.Q.\" of protected innovation is estimated by its \"reaction\" to natural components and their \"aptitude\". The principal condition requires a critical change in adequacy, while the second furnishes quicker reaction properties with a higher \"Level of intelligence\". The structure materials and structures that are frequently connected with them can be isolated into three unique levels: (I) single-stage materials, (ii) composite materials, and (iii) insightful structures. Most ferric objects and those with at least one varieties related with the developmental states of the class are of the top of the line. Useful mixes are generally intended to utilize dormant materials to improve utilitarian properties or to consolidate a few practical components to shape a blend of numerous capacities. The third stage is the mix of sensors, actuators, and a control framework that emulates the living body in performing numerous attractive capacities, for example, adjusting to natural changes, ixing itself, etc. These three levels include the overall meaning of building and underlying knowledge. In this short rundown, we will utilize a couple of guides to delineate those plans and give general rules to planning \"shrewd\" programs. The distinction between a norm and a \"savvy\" thing can be shown by the accompanying harmony (PTC) things - the dismissal things. The enormous gathering of temperature sensors relies upon the warm reliance of the electrical resistivity of the transmitters. Platinum, for instance, is a broadly utilized PTC sensor. Opposition is continually expanding with expanding temperature over a scope of around 20 to 1,500 K. Temperature sensors dependent on this material show the bene its of having solid synthetic and mechanical strength and covering a wide scope of temperatures with nearly a similar factor. The change, be that as it may, Annual Magazine 2020-21 130 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

is not exactly - 03 μω⋅cm/K. Hence, the hardware can't be utilized for self-warming purposes. An illustration of a keen PTC material is benefactor doped barium titanate pottery. For this situation, there is a wide scope of temperatures (from - 350 to 450 K) where the resistivity increments by around six signi icant degrees. (Ref.1) We hear a lot about new experiments done using 4D printing. 4D printing technology uses the same printing process as 3D printing, the difference between the two production methods is: the use of what we call intelligent materials allows the creation of 4D printed objects. If 3D printing has already completely transformed the industrial world, 4D printing could also be a real turning point. Indeed, this process can allow for the creation of more vertical structures. Intelligent objects are objects that respond to external stimuli and have one or more spaces. We can also call them responsive ones. These substances can change the shape or behavior of hot water, pressure, chemicals, light or heat. Researchers from the University of Bristol and the University of Bath work on inspired material. For example, they are encouraged by the behavior of a pine conifer in water. Indeed, underwater, a lump of pine changes its shape and releases itself. In this trial, researchers worked with cellulose. Cellulose is a truly absorbent substance and is the most abundant polymer in the world. They decided to use a sealing material such as a pine cone, in contact with water, to make ink, which includes hydrogel, particles of clay and cellulose pulp. This experiment leads to the creation of an intelligent object, capable of reacting to regeneration. Environmental stimulation is not a new approach for researchers. It is actually called Biomimicry. This process helps us develop new products that bring new production opportunities. We can look at it, learn from it, and use it to our advantage. Polymer memory is a clever material that provides the most lexible twisting, in natural reaction. In order to change its structure and improve its durability, the material must be exposed to heat, light, electricity, moisture, for example. There are many requests for smart devices, here we are talking about 4 D printing only. To save Human Lives- 3D printing is actually really helping the medical industry, and the development of bioprinting is also helping. What could be the role of 4D printing for healthcare? Shape memory polymers could be inserted inside the body and react to the changes and stimulation of the body. Indeed, it could allow to create brand new antibiotics reacting, for example, to the body temperature changes. Energy ef icient Device: A possible use of shape memory materials would be on solar panels that would be working as sensors for detecting the sun. This way, solar panels could totally be auto-rotating towards the right direction. Combined to robotics, it could allow to create solar panels totally optimized to get the maximum solar energy. Smart materials for construction: Combining traditional construction materials with smart material could actually be a great solution to get structures able to grow, self-repair or adapt quite quickly to their environment. That is precisely what the DARPA’s Engineered Living Materials (ELM) is looking at: using living biomaterials for architecture and construction! Aeronautics and Motorized: Airbus SAS is starting to use a 4D-related “smart” material that reacts to temperature to cool jet engines and a wing that morphs according to aerodynamic conditions to decrease air resistance. Getting devices adapted to external condition automatically could be a major asset for many different industries. OPPORTUNITIES IN PANDEMIC Pandemics are threatening humanity with time, again and again. H1N1, Ebola, and more have shown their effects on various countries in past and currently COVID 19 stretched its leg all over the world, but with each such outbreak, we are adopting new ways of understanding, managing, and ighting such unexpected disease, which will affect the lives of millions of people. Technology cannot prevent the arrival of a pandemic but it can educate, aware, empower and help in preventing the spread. Today with a lot of connecting technologies like mobile, laptop, 4G/5G, cloud analytic, high-speed internet. It’s become possible to check several innovative approaches to pandemic responses. Today technology is playing a vital role in the ight against COVID 19 from online education to the development of the vaccine. We all know how badly COVID 19 has impacted lives, both personally, and professionally. During this time of sheer uncertainty and constant fear, our willingness to adopt technology has been our lifeline. Major areas where technology plays a vital role: - 1. Fighting misinformation: There are numerous misinformation regarding medicines, treatment, vaccines, precautions, etc. which creates more panic and anxiety among the population. To reduce such false information companies like Google, Facebook and YouTube are guiding people about right and WHO veri ied information. 2. Online shopping: During the spread of COVID 19, people were limited to their homes only so, online shopping became the safest option for buying vegetables, medicines, and other essential items. Online shopping has seen massive growth in the lockdown period, owing to the increasing demand among consumers. 3. Entertainment during a lockdown: Without any outdoor entertainment, lockdown led people towards the OTT platform which refers to “over-the-top” is used for the delivery of ilm and TV content via the internet. During lockdown OTT platforms like Hotstar, Amazon prime videos, Net lix, ZEE 5, and Voot select saw a rise in their viewership and app downloads. 4. Online education: After the announcement of the closure of schools, colleges and universities, impacted studies of about 1.57 billion students all over the world. Educational institutions have started to offer their courses online to make sure education is not disrupted due to the pandemic. 5. Developing and producing vaccines: To ight against a pandemic like this, there is a need for effective treatment. Technology is making this process faster. AI is playing an important role in developing vaccines by suggesting components of a vaccine by understanding virus protein structure. Then during production robotic machines are making the vaccine at a faster rate so that it could be available to everyone as soon as possible. Technology is also playing a vital role in various other activities such as contact tracing, stock market, contactless online deliveries, itness and health apps, temperature monitoring, work from home and so on. COVID 19 has proved that technology is helping in the proper management and controlling of the pandemic. COVID 19 has given us a lesson and warning of being well prepared in advance at an individual as well as collective level. All we need to ight a pandemic like COVID 19 is preparedness. Advancement in technology is continuously progressing. It will undoubtedly continue to grow sharply. It’s our “Humans” duty to adapt to the changes in technology faster and continue to invest in building the technology systems for better preparation to ight any a situation like this in the future. POSITIVE & NEGATIVE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY IN FIGHT AGAINST CORONA What do you mean by technology? Technology is the machinery and equipment developed from the application of scienti ic knowledge. The world is growing very fast in terms of technological development. In the current situation of the pandemic in which we are restricted to go out, technology is playing a very important role. Aristotle coined the Greek term Technologia and split scienti ic knowledge into three parts: theoretical science, practical science, and productive science (technology). Technology is playing two types of roles, positive and negative. On one side technology is helping people to connect with doctors, relatives, etc. By technology people are taking treatment at home, it is educating people and making them aware of the situation. This is the positive side of technology. Whereas on the other side many people are using technology for misleading others. They are transferring unnecessary information which is developing anxiety among people. But the big companies or social media platforms like Google, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. are working to reduce the transmission of this types of false information and give people the right information which can help to deal with this pandemic. In India, telecom operators like Jio, BSNL, Airtel and more, are using the caller tunes to spread awareness about the pandemic and the importance of the vaccination. The best examples of positive technology in this pandemic are Infrared thermometers, Oximeter which is now a day is in great use and plays a very important role in testing series of Corona. These are being used at checkpoints of of ices, airports, hotels, hospitals, train stations, shops, and other public places. AI is seen playing important role in suggesting components of a vaccine. Using AI platforms, it has become easier for researchers to quickly ind relevant studies that can potentially lead to new insight or approaches to address the COVID-19 outbreak. As pandemics or other calamities keep threatening the business world, working from home ensures business continuity as well as facilities. In such a scenario, technology that enables secure to data, enterprise applications, virtual meetings, cloud conferencing, and virtual/mixed/augmented reality is the forefront leaders to ensure deliverables are not impacted. Self-driving cars, drones, robots can be seen helping when the need is to avoid human contact. As recently seen in the news that many are scamming people who need oxygen cylinders urgently by taking money in advance and not giving them oxygen cylinders. CONCLUSION - The conclusion is that technology is playing a crucial role in this situation. Without technology will not able to ight against this pandemic. But the condition is that we should be aware of the fake news spreading on social media and should not believe in any news without any authentication. THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY DURING THE PANDEMIC COVID-19 is an unprecedented, worldwide pandemic that has been compared to the Second World War, the Great Depression, and the 1918 Spanish Flu in terms of the impact on human behavior. To control the COVID-19 pandemic, physical distancing, and quarantine measures were mandated. To meet this mandate while trying to maintain the status quo, various types of human behavior (e.g., shopping, learning, working, meeting, and entertaining) shifted from of line to online. Now one basic question that needs to be answered is how much literature has been accumulated and how much is known about the digital technology used during the COVID -19 pandemic. The coronavirus (COVID -19) pandemic closed schools across the globe and our kids had to suddenly rely on technology for their online studies and adapt to a new style of learning, almost overnight. The vicarious interventions were undertaken to contain the virus forced the government to issue ‘stay-at-home orders that resulted in our kids engaging in, (and in some places) still using online learning for long periods. Any good parent will already have had certain guidelines in place for their kid's screen time, but these were thrown out the window as a rise in technology for our kids became a necessity! Technology was already integrated into the fabric of our modern lives but a global pandemic was the key to our kid's learning, kept businesses running and families connected as well all battened down the hatches and tried to ride out the storm. Schools were thrown a massive curveball with over 1.2 billion kids out of the classroom and had to immediately put steps in place they had never foreseen as a result education changed dramatically. Our kids had to adapt and adjust to this ‘new normal’ style of learning where teaching was undertaken remotely on digital platforms. All of their studies started to take place on Zoom with the use of e- learning platforms like Udemy or WizIQ and many other portals made possible by the use of technology. Technology in our kid's lives and the ongoing debate on how they should manage this, but let’s face it, where would we have been these last 14 months without it. Digital learning has now emerged as a necessary resource for students and schools all over the world. The Pros must include the ef iciency as it offered teachers an ef icient way to deliver lessons to students beyond traditional textbooks. Through the use of communication tools such as videos, PDFs, podcasts teachers were able to become more ef icient educators. It also allowed students to attend classes from any location which resulted in improved attendance as there were fewer chances bonus is that online lectures can be recorded, achieved, and shared for future reference. This allows students to access the learning materials at a time of their comfort. Every student has a different learning journey and style, the online system with its range of options and resources can be personalized in many ways which is an advantage especially for students who do not thrive in a classroom setting or who are distracted by large groups. The Cons among the most obvious disadvantages of students being easily distracted by social media and other sides, by far one the biggest challenges of online learning are the struggle with focusing on the screen for long periods. Teachers were challenged to keep their online classes engaging and interactive to help students stay focused on the lesson. Another key issue of online classes is internet connectivity. With billions of users now relying daily on the internet for school and business, staying connected at a decent speed is a problem, especially in more rural areas. Without a consistent internet connection continuity in learning can be both frustrating for students and detrimental to their learning. The state news reported that felt demotivated, anxious, isolated, loss of sleep, and a notable increase in poor vision, posture, and other physical problems due to staying hunched in front of a screen. PANDEMIC AND TECHNOLOGY In this world, we have been facing issues from human-made to natural calamities. One of them is epidemic; we humans have already dealt with epidemics like SARS, H1N1, Ebola, and now Covid-19. Yes, technology can't prevent the onset of pandemics but it can help mitigate the effects, in almost every ield be it education, medication, or business. Today, technologies like mobile, AI/ML, etc are playing a vital role. During this pandemic, we consumers have moved drastically towards e-platforms, and companies have responded too. Various surveys were conducted to gather data on such a rapid shift from of line to online modes. And since India is a developing country. We are always open to new challenges and changes. Some of the main areas where technology comes in handy: 1. Discovery of Drugs 2. Resisting and reporting misinformation 3. Increase transparency through data sharing 4. Facial recognition and AI 5. Contact-less deliveries through autonomous vehicles, drones, and robots 6. Temperature monitoring Surprisingly, technology was the only way out of this pandemic, where people could’ve lost their lives due to hunger and poverty. But that’s not it; technology played a supreme role in gaining inancial stability in hard times through e-commerce (electronic commerce) and e-business. Not only students but teachers and business experts are learning new technologies to survive ef iciently. This is not just helping them but also the educated and responsible citizens in the country are increasing. Idle students are now learning freelancing and stock markets which is going to upsurge their careers. People are trying new apps and software to maintain their health and routine, which gave the developers a glimpse of earning, and now we have our startup programs leading to a better nation. India is a self-dependent country because of such brilliant ideologies of serving the nation. In conclusion, COVID-19 has demonstrated that technological innovations have been helping in managing the epidemic in a prompt, structured, and calm manner. And it taught us to be cautious and prepared, not only at the individual but at the collective level. We all fought well, but what we need now is a fast adaptation of technology in our daily lives since technology will be growing exponentially. And as soon as we get familiar with this, we’ll be counted in those developed countries. AKSHARA PAREEK First Year, Sec-G, PGI, Jaipur TECHNOLOGY IN PANDEMIC When the world was reduced by the coronavirus epidemic, the world of the internet opened new doors of opportunity for us. We kept experimenting with the Internet and our time passed, but even today the Internet is a far cry for many people. There is no doubt that the Internet is one of the most important things in today. Without the internet, it seems that something is missing in life. When news agencies irst reported the suspected disease in Wuhan, China, it was the Internet through which this mysterious disease was discussed all over the world. Over time, news about this disease also started coming after iltering from China. After newspaper, TV, and magazine, information related to this started coming on our WhatsApp also. Some misleading and some false but some news was also real. Annual Magazine 2020-21 135 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

When the lockdown happened, everything came to a standstill. People started making contact with their parents, siblings, and relatives through video calls and chatting while staying at home. The cocktail of smartphones and the Internet made life easier for people who were away from family in times of crisis and needed emotional connection. In such a situation, talking to parents or other family members by making video calls, their mind becomes lighter and they do not feel lonely in the stranger city. Of ice work, which was earlier done from the of ice itself, was also possible to do from home and after the holiday or of ice work, people would like to entertain themselves at home on the over-the-top platform for any show, ilm, or other entertainment material. Started watching. On mobile, no less than a treasure like an internet. You can watch your favorite movie or web series sitting in any corner of the house or on the balcony. School education is also being given through the Internet and for this, there is pressure on the family to buy a laptop or smartphone at home. Many people buy smartphones but have to buy internet data every month. Before the Corona era, parents used to avoid this expense. Connecting to the Internet in villages and remote areas is still a big challenge. Even during the Corona period in Kashmir, the people there are deprived of high- speed internet and they do not know when they will get the facility of full speed web browsing in the future. Different platforms used in COVID-19 to help in the educational system: - Diksha portal contains e-Learning content for students, teachers, and parents aligned to the curriculum, including video lessons, worksheets, textbooks, and assessments. Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom are the various platforms that provide both teacher and students a classroom where teachers taught students about their subjects and we can interact with them directly. With the help of these online platforms, we can continue our studies without any kind of interruption or any kind of price/cost. Krishna Sharma First Year, Sec-F, PGI, Jaipur TECHNOLOGY IN PANDEMIC : A SUCCESS STORY The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a certain low in the use of digital technologies due to the social distancing and lockdown. Due to this pandemic situation, people use technology in every work. Now everyone is doing “work from home”. Even students take their classes in online mode. We can see a rapid change in the number of people who use technology. As the virus has spread, people around the world have increasingly turned to social media for news and information. But the pandemic has been convoy by a lood of unreliable information. In response, social media platforms have taken steps to decent content and promote of icial sources of information actions that they had long been unenthusiastic to undertake. A new chapter in the history of humanity has just begun: as of April 2020, 195 countries already have cases of coronavirus and are ighting this pandemic. We have seen how the appropriate use of technology can be of great support to control the spread of disease and reduce mortality as well as the socio-economic impact of the crisis. Beyond social distancing and isolation currently affecting 3.9 billion people worldwide, some countries are taking successful measures based on arti icial intelligence, big data, and more, and ef iciently understanding them. The speed with which each government leverages information and technological resources show a very diverse impact on social health and economic realities Nowadays we use technology even for very small work because of that we are now witnessing a rise in online fraud, scams, intrusions, and security breaches. Digital payments have a key role in the post-pandemic situation. We use digital payment because it is contact-less and safer. Conclusion: We understand that a pandemic can have severe consequences including destroying empires, changing political things. For the Covid-19 pandemi, we predict a dramatic shift in digital usage with impacts on all aspects of work and life. TECHNOLOGY IN PANDEMIC Pandemic is a type of dangerous disease that spreads in many countries, because of which a lot of people are affected and in short duration of time and many people are death. Nowadays one more pandemic situation we are facing is COVID-19, to control these types of pandemic technology helps us a lot. Nowadays due to covid-19 whole country is facing lockdown everything is going online. IT companies develops many applications which is help us in this situation like we all are doing work from; classes are going online. In industrial area technology is using to manufacturing products faster and effective. In medical area technology is moving towards develop. We are seeing robots are taking care of patients in many hospitals. In current situation that is covid-19 pandemic robots are used to delivered food to those people who are in quarantine. Not only this technology is also use to check vaccination status of covid-19, quick information about covid-19 patients, these days with the help of technology and medical facilities we can get covid-19 report of any person quick and easily. These are the advantage of technology that our work is well and effective, but another side these are very harmful and dangerous effect of technology that we are totally depending on the technology. Niku Kumar Singh First Year, Sec-C, PIET, Jaipur TECHNOLOGY IN PANDEMIC According to a report the average time spent on mobile phone by an average person has gone up by 25 percent after April 2020 up to 7 hours a day. This not only suggests that pandemic has been a period of boom for technology but also that people have been more accepting of technology. While the other sectors were in devastating loses, the tech sector posted record breaking pro its. The year 2020 has improved the grip of technology on many sectors. Once education online was just a sidekick to the traditional classroom method. Now online is the most prominent form of method to learn. This ensured public's faith in an online education system which is way more convenient and way better than the conventional classroom method. E learning platforms like Unacademy and Vedantu have been able to capture a large portion of the education sector because of the lockdown as they were cheaper and easily accessible than the coaching classes. Tech have been a vital part in ighting the pandemic as well. From ighting fake news to resource management tech has been at the center of it all. As a student who aspires to work in the same sector this gives me a lot of reassurance as well as con idence in my chosen carrier. Shubham Mishra First Year, Sec-C, PIET, Jaipur Annual Magazine 2020-21 137 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

TECHNOLOGY IN PANDEMIC No doubt development in technology is one of the biggest achievements of human history. It has not only created history for creation of technical gadgets leading to the ease of human life and improvement of standards of living. It has transformed the world by introducing such things that could never be imaginable in the earlier days. It has brought us to modernization. Today the world is dealing with COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus). It has converted a prosperous and peaceful world into threatening and miserable one. Technology played a vital role in stabling such situation to some extent. Invention and discoveries of medicines and vaccines are only a result of technical development. It had allowed the medical sector to deal with such situation by enabling them to invent new medicines, test accessories, machines, treatment equipment. The number of deaths is increasing day by day. There is a threat in humans. Those who are affected by corona virus are not only in pain but also alone in isolation centers. Isolation is not so easy it could make a person weaker, but in such a situation technical and electronic gadget have allowed them to be in contact of their love ones and share their feelings and pain with each other. Mobile phones, laptops, and others have contributed to make them healthy again. Moreover, it had strengthened country’s infrastructure in such an pandemic situation by opening the doors of self-development and self-suf iciency. It has allowed us to stand with world in such a worse situation. Nowadays the Supply of oxygen is in demand and is has become necessary to produce more and more oxygen. This could be possible by establishing new laboratories and factories with proper technology to ful ill such need. Development in Technology can be considered as a vital necessity for the world. It has saved the life of many families and happiness of many children. Education was a very important factor affected by the lockdown due to the crisis. It was a need to study for those who are preparing for boards. Online classes had brought the new world of education. A new method of learning and teaching. It also led to increase in technical knowledge and intelligence of students. Development of medicines and machinery had made us to overcome such situation. In the absence of technology, it would be very dif icult to bear such a crisis. Technology on the one had contributed to medical and human development, on the other hand it led to economic and social development also. It could be considered a blessing of God. Technical development has made the history in the world in order to overcome such a pandemic situation Shubham Kumawat First Year, Sec-G, PGI, Jaipur TECHNOLOGY IN PANDEMIC “Technology will not be able to avoid the onset of a pandemic but, it can assist in managing a crisis more effectively.” As we all know how badly COVID-19 has impacted our lives, both personal and professional, the world is hit by a big crisis. This duration of time is full of constant fear and uncertainity , making contact with people was full of risk, government started applying lockdown due to which of ice, shops ,schools everything got closed and all were stuck at the place here they were staying weather their home or out of state or nation. ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY The industrial revolution (1760-1840) lead to the development of new technologies with immense power. This was succeeded by continued technological advancements in the developed countries like USA, UK, etc. which lead to the development of advanced technologies arounds the world. Since then there was a negative impact of technology on environment which include misuse and damage of natural earth. These technologies have damaged our planet in two main ways; pollution and depletion of natural resources. Due to these negative impacts of the technology on environment and rise in global concern for climate change led to the development of Environmental technology which helps to reduce or solve the negative effects of technology on environment. Environmental Technology is also called ‘green’ or ‘clean’ technology as it means the development of new technologies which helps to save, monitor and reduce the environmental hazards of technology. The new technologies include- Renewable Energy : It refers to the clean energy which can be renewed and cannot be exhausted. It is obtained from renewable resources like sunlight, wind, biogas, hydroelectric energy and geothermal heat. In India renewable energy sector is the fourth most attractive renewable energy market in the world. The government is aiming to achieve 227 GW of renewable energy capacity (including 114 GW of solar capacity addition and 67 GW of wind power capacity) by 2022, more than its 175 GW targets as per the Paris Agreement. Smart Technology : Smart home technology uses devices such as sensor connectivity and other Internet- connected (IoT) devices that can be monitored and con igured remotely to be as energy ef icient as possible and responsive to users' needs. Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of online objects that are able to collect and exchange data using integrated sensor technology. This data allows devices in the network to 'make decisions' independently based on real-time information. For example, smart lighting systems only illuminate the areas they need and the smart thermostat keeps homes at certain temperatures at certain times of the day, thus reducing wastage of energy. Electric Vehicles : Electric vehicles are propelled by electric motors(single or multiple) and they use energy stored in rechargeable batteries. Since 2008 there is an increase in the manufacturing of electric vehicles as they are environment friendly and also they do not cause greenhouse effect because they don’t release carbon emissions. Further they do not contribute to pollution which means they are not harmful to environment, animals, plants and humans. DAC (Direct Air Capture) : DAC technology helps in capturing the carbon dioxide from that the atmosphere and producing a concentrated stream of CO2 for sequestration or utilization. This technology is still in early stages of development. Full scale DACs can absorb annual carbon emissions of average 250,000 cars. In recent years there has been a boost in development of new technologies which has several negative impacts on environment, hence environmental technology is necessary as it uses creative and innovative methods to create environment friendly products. It also aims at development of technology which leads to sustainable development. We should use environmental technology ef iciently then only we can ensure the availability of natural resources and other valuable resources for the upcoming generations. GLOBAL WARMING Introduction : Global warming is the long-term heating of Earth's climate system observed since the pre-industrial period (between 1850 and 1900) due to human activities, primarily fossil fuel burning, which increases heat-trapping greenhouse gas levels in Earth's atmosphere. In simple words, Global warming is the temperature of Earth's surface, oceans and atmosphere going up over tens to thousands of years. Cause of global warming : Global warming is mostly because of people burning things, like gasoline to make cars go and natural gas to keep houses warm. But the heat from the burning itself only makes the world a tiny bit warmer: it is the carbon dioxide from the burning which is the biggest part of the problem. Among the greenhouse gases, the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the main cause of global warming. When people burn fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas this adds carbon dioxide into the air. This is because fossil fuels contain lots of carbon and burning means joining most of the atoms in the fuel with oxygen. When people cut down many trees (deforestation), this means less carbon dioxide is taken out of the atmosphere by those plants. Conclusion • The atmospheric concentration of CO2 has increased by at least 25 percent since preindustrial times and is currently increasing at about 0.5 percent per year. • Atmospheric concentrations of CFCs, which are a result of industrial activities and have been released into the atmosphere in quantity only since World War II, are currently increasing at about 4 percent per year. • Human-induced climate change has contributed to changing patterns of extreme weather across the globe, from longer and hotter heat waves to heavier rains. • Pollution, fossil fuels, and high population are Main cause of global warming . • There are many of effects that happened already like melting ice. • Most warming is probably the result of human activities. • There will be positive and negative repercussions from global warming.
