From Editor’s Desk \"It is under the greatest adversity that there exists the greatest potential for doing good, both for oneself and others.\" - Dalai Lama As the world continues to present new adversities and challenges; mastering resilience and possessing a resilient mindset has been a constant challenge and task for all of us to conquer. It not only helps us to cope and withstand stress and uncertainty, but also gives us the allowance to learn, grow, thrive, and ultimately emerge stronger on the other side. \"Technology in pandemic - A Success Story\" is not only the theme but it's a feeling we all are thoroughly experiencing. The harder the pandemic has hit us, the stronger we all have emerged. A year ago if someone would have posited that all the worldly actions would shift to digital world, this simple proposition might have sounded as wishful thinking. But as we all see now, the online mode of operation in education field has become a constant and consistent factor in the development of our students. In PIET, the tireless efforts of faculties and students have resulted in the success stories everyday. The online learning process and progress have been nothing but consistent efforts resulting in holistic development of the students. The advancement in technical world has brought us ample amount of opportunities and challenges to conquer and retain the sense of productivity. I wish all the best wishes to everyone and feel extremely happy to see the 14th edition of \"POORNIMA PANORAMA\" being published. Kudos to the efforts and the outcome. Annual Magazine 2020-21 Dr. Ritu Soryan (Editor-In-Chief) 1 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

MESSAGE Technology like art is a soaring exercise, of the human imagination. (Daniel Bell) I am glad to learn that Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) is bringing out 2020-21 issue of its Annual Magazine ‘Poornima Panorama’ with the theme “Technology in Pandemic: A Success Story\". The PIET right since its inception in year 2007 has focused on ensuring the overall development of competences and capabilities of its students and grown into a unique institute of engineering education. Engineers are essentially inventors for the future. Innovation and entrepreneurship are key drivers in today’s engineering world, and the push for sustainable products, services and technologies is needed now more than ever. The pandemic Corona accelerated the transformation of engineering education – removing barriers to innovation as well as introducing new challenges. With almost no lead time, education delivery and assessment was transformed for online delivery. A challenge specific to online engineering education is on offering laboratory experiences to students. Possible solutions such as virtual labs, remote labs and digital-live labs that aid in overcoming this challenge will need to be developed and continuously upgraded. There is a need for developing entrepreneurship skills among the engineering college students right from the starting of the education. I am sure PIET has successfully handled these challenges and is adequately equipped to meet similar challenges in future. I would like to quote from inaugural speech of former US President Barack Obama. “Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends — hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism — these things are old. These things are true. This is the source of our confidence — the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.” I am sure that the magazine ‘Poornima Panorama’ would make interesting matter, encompassing and reflecting the vibrant campus life and would prove to be a good platform to showcase achievements of faculty and students. I congratulate all contributors and wish excellent success to the coming issue of the magazine. Annual Magazine 2020-21 Dr. S.M. Seth Chairman (Emeritus) Poornima Group Former Director, NIH, Roorkee 2 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

Annual Magazine 2020-21 Shashikant Singhi Chairman, Poornima Group & Chairperson, Poornima University 3 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

MESSAGE I am ecstatic to discover that Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology is bringing out the next edition of its annual magazine – Poornima Panorama based on the theme \"Technology in Pandemic: A Success Story\". A college magazine helps record the curricular and extra-curricular excursion of the establishment and gives a chance to the workforce, staff, and understudies to exhibit their ability and investigate their innovative potential. I congratulate all contributors and wish excellent success to the coming issues of this magazine. Annual Magazine 2020-21 Ar. Rahul Singhi Director, Poornima Group 4 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

MESSAGE “We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.” Creativity involves breaking out of expected patterns in order to look at things in a different way, and that is what “POORNIMA PANORAMA” brings to you as a collection of all that creativity. It brings out the inventiveness of the academic community filled with imagination and knowledge that this institute provides. And in Poornima institute of engineering and technology the motto remains crystal clear of being better than today. With such vision and imagination this year “POORNIMA PANORAMA” is focused on how the technology has helped us in the time of pandemic. As we are all familiar with the effect of covid-19 on the entire world and the academic community, technology brought us all back up to our feet to stand in the time of crisis. While many critical needs are addressed during the epidemic, the most important thing to remember is education. The covid-19 crisis has led to many schools around the world closing their doors to students. Education shapes and plays a major role in our development. When education is affected, it can have a detrimental effect on children and young adults who want to improve their knowledge and quality of life. The good news here is that this does not mean the end of education. Educational institutions use IT to create alternative ways to learn about digital technology and resources for online educators. Video calls, file sharing, remote access to the learning center, and platforms allow students and teachers of all ages to collaborate and ensure that academic interruptions are as limited as possible. IT and digital technology have allowed people to easily and quickly share information during a disaster. Health organizations and governments are using information technology to improve public health by disseminating news related to the COVID-19 virus to millions of people. I feel nostalgic to see the dream getting flourished day by day, each year pass by and we witness yet another astounding innovation by Poornima Institution of Engineering & Technology. One of the most exciting innovations today is its growth in society. It is increasingly needed in all aspects of Education. Here in PIET, each and every student is treated individually and thrive towards achieving their goals by not only competing with the others but with their own selves hence growing their interpersonal skills. I wish you all success in your honest endeavour with courage, grit, tenacity & determination. Annual Magazine 2020-21 Dr. Dinesh Goyal Campus Director, PIET 5 Poornima Panorama (Issue-XIV)

Hands-on sessions explored the depth of knowledge in Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking. It was organized from 6th - 10th Oct 2020. Cyberspace is one of the most critical domains in maintaining our nation’s superiority. Cyber Security awareness is one of the most important aspects that everyone must handle in their day-to-day operations. Small to medium-sized organizations are especially at risk as they often do not have the proper funding, knowledge, or training to protect themselves from cyber security vulnerabilities. The program aimed to promote research aspects in internet security, familiarize with tools available for network scanning (anti-virus, anti-spam and anti-spyware scans), identify and synthesize needs for internet security techniques ( irewall, honeypots etc.), share information and practical awareness for data and system protection from cyber-attacks (Prevent, detect and respond) etc. The FDP started with an overview of cyber security, information security and cryptography aspects to help the audience understand importance of these aspects in real life scenarios. This FDP was planned in two parts: technical session and hands-on session. The technical session part of the FDP focused on the most challenging contemporary issues in cyber security (Cyber threat, cyber incidents, cyber threat sharing, cyber technology evolution etc.), data science (collection, analysis and visualization) and cryptography. The hands-on session part extended the discussion to address the practical evaluation of security tools and techniques, machine learning for data analysis and data forensics, and implementation of cryptography primitives and protocols. After each session, a small group breakout session was conducted where key topics from the current session were addressed with participants helping identify recent trends and research gaps.
