Decorative & Architectural Technical Data Sheet W104-STD (Rev 1/2021) PRODUCT NAME: NC LACQUER SATIN General Surface Preparation & Directions for Use NEW WOODEN SURFACES: Rub down with fine sand paper and dust off all loose powdery material. Ensure that the surface is dry and cleaned of all dirt, dust, oil grease and other debris. Seal all knots with Kaleidoscope Knotting Varnish. Fill all nail holes, cracks, crevices with Kaleidoscope Carpenter’s Wood Filler or Kaleidoscope Pol-Y-Fil. Then apply one coat of Kaleidoscope N.C Sanding Sealer by brush, roller or spray and rub down with fine abrasive paper to obtain a sound firm smooth surface. Follow with one or two coats of Kaleidoscope NC Lacquer Satin. PREVIOUSLY VARNISHED: If not in sound condition, strip with Kaleidoscope Paint Remover and treat as “NEW”. Rub down existing lacquer thoroughly; fill any cracks, crevices, holes with Kaleidoscope Carpenter’s filler or Kaleidoscope Pol- Y-Fil. Then apply one coat Kaleidoscope NC Sanding Sealer and rub down with fine abrasive paper to obtain a sound firm smooth surface. Follow with one or two coats of Kaleidoscope NC Lacquer Satin. Stir thoroughly before use and occasionally during use, allowing 1 hour drying time between coats. Read label prior to use. CAUTION: Use only with adequate ventilation. SANDING SEALER General Surface Preparation & Directions for Use NEW WOOD: Sand to obtain a smooth surface, remove dust. PREVIOUSLY COATED SURFACES: Remove any oils, grease, polish or wax. Kaleidoscope NC Sanding Sealer should not be applied over existing finishes without first testing to determine if “lifting” would occur. For best results strip previously painted/ varnished areas to bare wood and sand to obtain a smooth surface, remove dust. Kaleidoscope NC Sanding Sealer is supplied ready for use by brush or spray. It can be thinned with a small quantity of Kaleidoscope 2008 Thinners if desired. Apply one or two coats allowing 1 hour between applications. Use plastic or rubber gloves and goggles to protect the hands and eyes. Restrict application to an area not more than 1850 sq. cm. (approx. 2 sq. ft.) at a time. 2. Flow on a heavy coat, using a soft brush and stroking in one direction only. Allow Paint Remover to remain on surface, for 5-15 mins., until the coating is completely blistered before attempting to remove. 3. Wash surface by scraping off with scraper. 4. Further applications may be necessary with some tough coatings. Use a paint scraper/wire wool to remove the loosened coating while flushing with water. Apply a mixture of 1 part Domestic Bleach and 1 part water and allow to dry. Then apply a liberal coat Kaleidoscope Sterilizing Solution by brush or sponge and leave overnight. Finally, using a brush, remove all residual growth. Immediately apply first coat of paint. HANDLING PRECAUTIONS: Avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin and eyes.
