He was always thirsty. \"I can't go near the pond,\" he said. \"The crocodile will eat me.\" So he was always thirsty. \"Friend Crab,\" said the crocodile one day. \"I am hungry.\" \"You're always hungry,\" said the crab. \"You have a huge body and you never get enough food.\"

\"Oh, poor me,\" cried the crocodile. Tears ran down his eyes. \"I'm hungry. Iwant to eat the jackal.\" \"Eat the jackal!\" cried the crab. \"You can't eat him. He's very clever.\" \"Listen to me, Crabbie,\" said the crocodile. And he whispered something tothe crab's ear. \"Will you help me?\" he asked and he cried again. \"Please don't cry Croc,\" said the crab. \"I'll help you.\" The crocodile walked to a tree and lay under it.
