In the Fire Station, guests can take part in an interactive game called Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. Pick up a map and a packet of spell cards, then head out on a quest to become an apprentice of the wizard Merlin as you battle the evil Hades as he tries to take over the Magic Kingdom. The street ends at the Plaza, or hub of the Magic Kingdom, with the breathtaking Cinderella Castle. At the Main Street train station for the Walt Disney World Railroad, guests board one of the four steam powered trains for a 1½ mile trek around the Magic Kingdom. Está coordinado y dirigido por The Walt Disney Company a través de Walt Disney Parks, Esperiences and Products. Abierto el 1 de octubre de 1971, es el parque temático más famoso de Florida, y el más visitado del mundo. Fue diseñado y construido por WED Enterprises (ahora conocidas como Walt Disney Imagineering), la disposición de las áreas y las atracciones del parque son similares a las de Disneyland en Anaheim, California, abierto en 1955. Hoy 22 de abril se celebra “El día de la tierra” y además es el vigésimo cumpleaños de Animal Kingdom. En el proyecto original del parque se había estipulado que tuviera una altura máxima de 15 metros y que permitiera el ingreso a pequeños visitantes para jugar dentro de él. Pero debido a la gran demanda que tendría y los pocos visitantes que podrían disfrutarlo, decidieron modificar el diseño y hacerlo más grande, 3 veces más grande. Así fue como logro alcanzar los 44 metros de altura y los 15 metros de diámetro. Pero a medida que el proyecto fue cambiando fueron surgiendo nuevas ideas que lo único que hacían era convertirlo en una misión imposible. Al equipo de Imagineers Disney se le ocurrió que el árbol debía albergar un teatro de 450 asientos en su interior. Para resolver esa “loca” ocurrencia debían crear una estructura descomunal y que les permitiese hacer todo lo que quisieran sobre ella. Fue así como un ingeniero iluminado del equipo de Imagineers propuso utilizar una estructura ya construida y que había demostrado que podía soportar construcciones de gran peso sobre su base. Por lo que lo trasladaron en barco hasta Tampa y desde ahí (unos 60km aprox.) se montó en camiones especiales y lograron llevarla hasta el parque sin sacarle ni siquiera un solo tornillo. La forma de árbol se hizo con una maqueta de goma espuma, sobre la cual se fueron “cortando” paneles de hierros tejidos para crear los planos irregulares del tronco. Todos esos paneles fueron transportados en helicópteros hasta el parque y luego se soldaron uno a uno hasta terminar la estructura y cubrirla con hormigón. ENGLISH THE OIL PLATFORM ...
