Collazzone The origins of Collazzone are dated to Roman Age, as revealed by the presence of an arche- ologic area called “Le Carceri”, located in Col- lepepe. The origins of Colllazzone are still vague. According to some sources, Attone, of the Atti family, built the original village between the VIII- IX centuries, commissioned by the Dukes of Spo- leto, who wanted to maintain their control over the Puglia Valley. Genealogical research has shown that Attone, a descendant of Ildebrando (a Longobard also known as Monaldo III) and re- ferred to as the “Great Count of Umbria” arrived in the area around the year 1000 A.D. obtaining a feudal estatethat stretched from Nocera to Todi.Collepepe

Una leggenda narra che Todi sia sorta per volere dei VeiiUmbri, una popolazione che viveva nella Valle del fiume Te-vere infatti mentre erano già stati iniziati i lavori per la costru-zione della città sulle rive del fiume ecco che un’aquila arri-vò mentre gli uomini stavano desinando e portò via con gliartigli la tovaglia trascinandola sul punto più alto del colle...Gli abitanti della Valle pensarono che ciò fosse un segnodel destino e costruirono così la città di Todi sul colle. A legend tells that Todi was builded by the inhabitants of the River Tevere: “ Veii Umbri”. Infact during the con- struction of the town an eagle seized the tableclothe where the people were eating and dropped it into the top of the hill. The inhabitants of the river considered the fact as a sign of fate and built the town on the hill.

All the rooms are provided with telephone, digital signal TV with 4 satelli- te channel and Premium Channel, minibar and tea and coffe maker; while those in the central building have air conditioning as well. Sono presenti normalmente all’interno di chiese, la maggior parte, ed alcu- ni rari esempi in edifici civili di elevato prestigio. In Umbria quelle all’interno dell’Abba- zia, rimangono testimonianze uniche. Il periodo di maggior sviluppo di questa tipologia di strumenti è compreso princi- palmente tra la fine del 1400 ed il 1700. Two Sundials, sais “a dark room”, are marvelous examples inside the Abbey. This sundials are example of a specific family not very large, widespread mainly in Italy, but also with a few examples in France and elsewhere. They are present normally within chur- ches and some rare examples in high prestigious civil buildings. In Umbria those inside the Abbey, are unique testimonies.
