THE ROTARACT CLUB OF KELANIYA Annexure 1 – Game On • \"Game On '19\", one & only Rotaract hand ball tournament was held on the 30th of November 2019 at Excel Futsal Arena with a participation of approximately 150 people. • Game On - the first ever Rotaract hand ball tournament is a project initiated back in 2017 in introducing a new sport to Sri Lankan youth while promoting the need for youth engagement in getting the public involved in a more dynamic sport lifestyle. • It is recognized by the national handball federation of Sri Lanka as one of the major events that promotes handball among the youth in Sri Lanka. • https://www.facebook.com/GameOn2k19/ • https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=160330448689663&id=10819359390 3349 Annexure 2 – Lumiere Fusion • As Rotaractors, part of our role is to hand over a safe and beautiful world to the next generations full of human rights and the cultural diversity which will lead to peace and harmony among human beings. • Lumire fusion is a joint project with the Rotaract Club of Coimbatore unique, RID 3201, India as a part of the twin club agreement process. • We celebrated the two cultures & strengthened our friendships. • A Cultural costume exchange was organized which was named \"Traditional SWAG 2020\". It was followed up with a cultural quiz under the topics related to Arts, History, Movies, and other pop-cultural values in both countries. THE ROTARACT CLUB OF KELANIYA • Phase three was the breast cancer awareness & screening workshop and a clinic for women in the Kelaniya and Biyagama area to check their possibility of getting breast cancer. The workshop aimed at educating women in the unknown on how to recognize breast cancer symptoms and how to proceed afterwards. THE ROTARACT CLUB OF KELANIYA Annexure 4 – Defend the Ocean • Due to human activities, most of the Sri Lankan beaches are polluted with polythene, plastic and many other garbage sources which are non-biodegradable. In partnership with Green Map Sri Lanka, Rotaract Club of Kelaniya with Rotary Club of Kelaniya organized Coastal Cleanup Project “Defend the Ocean“to clean the beautiful Crow Island Beach, Mutwal. Driving clubs on achieving same goal on different perspectives. Hence Rotaract Club of Kelaniya decided to have a Symbol which represents all Rotaractors in one badge. • We were able to raise funds by selling around 60 lapel pins in terms of club administration. THE ROTARACT CLUB OF KELANIYA Annexure 6 – Revival Day Celebrations • The Revival Day, celebration of the revival along with the 20th year in service of the Rotaract Club of Kelaniya was celebrated on 10th of January 2020 in the Hotel Royal Grand Paradise from 5pm onwards. • The presence of past presidents, Rotary family, past Distritct Rotaract Representatives, guide club coordinator and past and present rotaractors was witnessed in this event. • Along with formalities as rotaractors, the evening was conducted in a familiar sense, in remembrance of the journey of 20 years of the club. With inspiring speeches from the past presidents, DRR Krishan Balaji, Past DRR past presidnet Jacke Diaz, and the president elect and the DRR elect for years 2020/2021. • Project was carried out with the intension of connecting Past Members, Past DRRs, Rotary Family members with the current membership. Through these connections, the current & future leadership of the club intent to elevate the status of the club & scale up the current projects with the support of potential past members, Rotarians & other influential people related to rotaract. 156 Annual Report 2019/20
THE ROTARACT CLUB OF KELANIYA Annexure 7 – Dance for Kindness • In 2012, Life Vest Inside initiated Dance for Kindness, a worldwide event which aims to promote kindness and remind people that the little things we do for each other matter. This is also the kickoff event to commence the Kindness Week in honour of World Kindness Day - showing that regardless of the differences in race, religion, ethnicity culture and background - the common thread that unites us all is kindness. Groups from across the globe join together to perform a Kindness Freezemob/ Flashmob to the same song, same dance, all happening on the same day! • This year Rotract Club of Kelaniya united to be the event partner/ coordinator for Sri Lanka. Hashali is a true inspiration for all the club members. Her involvement in organizing & handling tasks in both project & administrative tasks in very impressive and she has been the back bone of the club since 2018 as she was appointed as the secretary of the club for the consecutive year.
