LIFE ISN’T 93 BLACK AND WHITE I was given the task of creating nine posters that visually represent a chosen color through experi- mental typography. Each poster was represented by a different word or phrase. Completed I chose gray as my conceptual color because it is the Fall 2018 color “without color.” Achromatic — a tone between black and white and as neither, it is the color of truth. To come up with the visuals, I chose quotes that spoke about items with conceptual ties to the color gray and then represented those ideas with words or phrases related to those items, without literally being them. I wanted to work outside of the com- puter and focused on making everything by hand. Disciplines Typography Photography Poster Design Kind of Project Experimental 04

FOLLOW NATURE 111 IN HER WALKS My challenge was to redesign a poorly designed book about an artist by transforming the layout and visual system to better fit the content. Completed Birdwatching has been an important part of my life Spring 2018 and so when I was looking at potential artists and finding books that were poorly designed, I quickly landed on John James Audubon and a book that contained his journal writings, but strangely did not include his paintings. I redesigned to book to high- light his imagery and tied the images to what was being discussed in the text. I also created a grid and system that was very flexible to allow for a lot of variation and a good pacing.
