LOT 312 $1 1870 NGC PR65 ULTRA CAMEO This is a big, boldly contrasted GEM Proof! Deep, beaming mirrored fields are blinding in the light. The mirrors are quite flashy and icy-smooth save for a tiny planchet flake in the lower right obverse field. The Sharply struck devices are brilliantlyfrosted and create a just superb CAMEO contrast. There is a hint of gold that frames the obverse. The eye appeal is nice. PCGS 3, NGC 3. A PCGS PR64 DCAM sold in January 2014 for $13,513 before this one sold for $14,100 in the 2017 FUN auction. Only 2 NGC coins are graded finer at NGC in the UltraCameo designation. The last PCGS PR65 DCAM sold for $23,000 in July 2008! These clearly do not appear in auction with any frequency! LOT 313 $1 1871 PCGS PR66+ CAC SUPER ULTRA HIGH END everything! If this coin were in a PR67 holder, we would not flinch. Everything about this coin is wild! Incredible mirrors are super deep and blaze from all over; they are crystal clear, ultra clean, and have intense reflectivity. The surfaces do look like a freshly formed perfect sheet of ice. An outrageous original mix of circular royal blue/green/reddish gold/amber/violet colors all dazzle to no end. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have thick frost. We do grade the reverse a full PR67 and the obverse a 66.9+. The eye appeal of this monster is full PR68+ caliber (yes, you read that right). PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1 (there are NO regular PR66’s). There is only one PR67. This coin last sold for $52,875 in April 2014. It is more than worth the money-don’t just take our word on it-see the coin in person. This piece is light years superior to most other Seated Proofs we have ever seen! Plus, it has colors that would make a peacock blush. In the end, PCGS was too tight on this coin. This coin will be a stand out in any GEM Set it is placed in. PCGS #7019 | EST: $45,000+150

LOT 315 T$1 1878-CC PCGS MS64 CAC Yes, this coin did very much sell for $73,437.50 in our July Regency Sale. Since then the collector decided to concentrate on other areas (he bought the Lord St. Oswald-Norweb 1794 Dollar in PCGS MS64 CAC out of the recent ANA Sale). He quickly realized this coin did not really fit into the set he is building, so here it is-back for sale totally UNRESEVED. Here is our description from the last sale: Welcome back to the market! This coin has been away for a minimum of 20+ years. It is from the estate of a major Trade Dollar collector. This coin’s quality is great. Outstanding super satiny smooth surfaces are visible all over. Even using a strong glass you will find hardly any scrapes or ticks. A moderate luster greatly enhances the totally original colors. A thick band of navy opens into deep champagne centers. There are no spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and are way above average. We assure you, this is not your typical 1878-CC Trade Dollar. The overall eye appeal is very pleasing! PCGS 8, NGC 5, CAC 4. The last PCGS MS64 CAC piece to sell in auction brought $69,000 in August2012. We paid $54,050 for a NGC MS63+ CAC in June 2016. The current Collectors Universe Value is $79,000. PCGS has graded only 2 coins higher (the MS65 last sold for $143,750 back in January 2007). The extreme rarity of this date and grade are undeniable. We know this will be a great fit in any choice CC or MS Trade Dollar set. We expect strong bidding here! Now collectors have a second chance to own it. PCGS #7047 | EST: $60,000+152

This MAGNIFICENT SUPEB GEM is the second finest known, and a real prize for any specialist. Not only is the quality all there, and then some, the Eliasberg-Coronet pedigree should speak for itself in terms of quality, eye appeal, and prestige. Listed as lot 2290 in the April 1997 sale of the Eliasberg Collection, and described as: “MS67 or finer. An incredible specimen, breathtaking in its beauty and unsurpassed in its appeal. Delicate champagne toning over satiny, lustrous surfaces change to splashes of gold and blue at the rims. One of the keys to the Morgan dollar series, in Mint State, and one of the very rarest at this ‘impossible’ level. An American numismatic landmark.” Today, 20 years later, the coin is just as spectacular! The luster swirls over the velvety surfaces nearly the way an S-mint coin from 1879-1882 would. The lovely toning mostly clings to the rims, keeping the central devices shimmering in their silvery brilliance. The surfaces are essentially without flaws, and as expected for the lofty grade designation, the eye appeal is SUPERB! J. Colvin Randall sold this magnificent coin to J.M. LOT 387 $1 1893-O PCGS MS66 PL CAC EX ELIASBERG-CORONET180

LOT 387 $1 1893-O PCGS MS66 PL CAC EX ELIASBERG-CORONET A MONUMENTAL example of this very scarce date--the highest numerically graded example at PCGS, and among the absolute FINEST example for the date. Boasting one of the greatest pedigrees in numismatics, Louis Eliasberg, this coin is essentially traced since the time it was struck. This remarkable coin was cataloged in our June 2015 Regency Auction as follows: “This is yet another special former Eliasberg coin that makes you wonder if it’s really a Specimen or possibly a Proof. One thing’s for sure, this off the charts coin is the all time finest 1893-O! If you want to really scrutinize this piece, there are a few microscopic ticks scattered around, but overall the surfaces are extremely clean. Both sides exhibit nearly flawless, icy, 4” mirrors, and nearly 6” mirrors on the reverse with great clarity. A warm, sensationalmix of original blue/violet/pale burnt orange/lavender colors is spread all over. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and well struck. The eye appeal is phenomenal!”Like the 1892-S offered above, this coin was purchased by J.M. Clapp from Colvin Randall in March 1894. John H. Clapp estate sold en bloc to Louis Eliasberg Sr. in 1942. Eliasberg Collection, April 1997, lot 2293. Sold in the 2004 FUN Auction; dealer intermediaries to Legend Numismatics; to the Coronet Collection, Legend Rare Coin Auctions, June 2015, where it realized $458,250. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. LOT 388 $1 1893-S PCGS MS67 CAC182

LOT 388 $1 1893-S PCGS MS67 CAC Legend Rare Coin Auctions is proud to have been consigned the world’s most valuable Morgan Dollar! Pedigreed back to the San Francisco mint in 1893, the Vermuele-Jack Lee-Coronet 1893-S is the undisputed FINEST KNOWN example of the rarest, and most important circulation strike Morgan dollar.Everything about this coin is SUPERB! The first time it ever sold, was in the Stack’s November 2001 sale of the Cornelius Vermeule III Collection, where, as lot 548 it was described as: “This is a simply incredible 1893-S Dollar. It surpasses every other specimen seen by the cataloguer and is rivalled only by the magnificent Norweb coin...It is a challenge to adequately describe the gorgeous appearance of this coin. If we employed all the superlatives necessary to do justice to its magnificent colors and surfaces which we might be criticized for saying too much. That is until the coin is actually seen in person. Then, the reader would know that worlds almost fail to do justice to the superb quality of thiscoin. The obverse and reverse are as satiny smooth as one could ever hope for from a common date Philadelphia Mint coin, let alone a great rarity of this importance. The piece is beautifully toned in a pleasing combination of deep russet, gold, iridescent blue and pale green. The fields are pristine with nary a mark to be seen anywhere. The strike is as sharp as ever seen...” Today, the quality is still as mesmerizing as it was 16 years ago. The luster, with its satiny brilliance brings out not just the dominant hues, but also the subtle shades throughout the surfaces. After handling many damaged, low grade, circulated pieces, you have to sit and marvel at how lucky we are that Cornelius Vermeule put this coin away at the time of mintage, and cherished as a family heirloom until his grandson, Cornelius Vermeule III sold the collection in 2001. Vermeule, was a lifelong numismatist, having worked for Stack’s early on in his career, then becoming the curator of antiquities at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He also authored several numismatic references that are still used today, some fifty-sixty years after being published. At the time this coin was sold by Stack’s it was uncertified, and called SUPERB GEM BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED, and the cataloguer noted that it rivaled the then PCGS-graded MS67 Norweb coin, which before this coin was offered was considered the finest known. Since that time, the Norweb coin, has been conserved, and the originality of the coin has been lost. PCGS has not regraded that coin as an MS67, and currently resides in an NGC MS66 encapsulation. Other impressive examples of this rare date include the PCGS MS65 CAC coin, ex Randall-Clapp-Eliasberg-Stellar-Sunnywood-Simpson. Each of these coins can trace their provenance back to the cashier’s window at the San Francisco mint. The 1893-S, like all the dollars struck that year are lower mintage issues, as the nation battled a serious financial panic. San Franciscostruck 100,000 silver dollars for general circulation where they would remain in commerce for many years. Any bags that were stored, unlike other dates, were melted under the 1918 Pittman Act. No large holdings of 1893-S in mint state have ever come out. Thetechnical qualities of this SUPERB GEM are beyond your wildest imagination. This cataloger, was a young numismatist in the summer of 2001 when the Vermeule collection was being prepared for auction (originally to be held on September 11, 2001). One summerafternoon before classes started up again, he walked into Stack’s where one of their numismatists came over and said, “Greg, do you want to see something really cool?”, and brought over this coin, raw (not even in a flip) on a velvet tray for me to view. For a 17 year old, that left a major impression, and planted a seed for the future. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. This coin has only sold in auction one time before, way back in November 2001, where it sold for a then record $414,000. In October, 2014, Legend Rare Coin Auctions proudly sold the Eliasberg-Sunnywood-Simpson PCGS MS65 for$646,250. Our consignor purchased this coin via private treaty sale from Legend Numismatics in October 2008 for a price “in excess of $1,000,000,” again a record. While we sold the rest of the Coronet Collection in 2015, this coin was being offered for direct sale, with an asking price of $2,000,000. The Coronet Collector has decided that now is the time to sell the coin. We believe that the recordbooks will have to be completely re-written when this SUPERB GEM crosses the block. A true trophy for any advanced Morgan dollar collector. This is an important opportunity that should not be taken lightly. It could be a very long time before another true GEM 93-Sis offered. Authorized in what would become the Coinage Act of January 18, 1837, which authorized the gold dollar denomination, and it has been suggested this was done because of the popularity of the Bechtler gold dollars that were circulating in the south. Christian Gobrecht is credited for the design, which features a Liberty Cap within a burst of rays on the obverse, similar to contemporary coins of the Mexican Republic, and the denomination within a palm wreath on the reverse. Struck in gold with a plain edge, this pattern is considered R-5, making this one of the only collectible pattern issues struck in gold (aside from Stellas which are technically patterns but collected along the regular U.S. gold series, which has catapulted them into the high five figure price range for even the lower quality examples).
