AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT  Agricultural development refers to the efforts made to increase farm production in order to meet the growing demands of increasing population.

THIS CAN BE ACHEIVED IN MANY WAYS -  Increasing the cropped area.  The number of crops grown.  Improving irrigation facilities  Use of fertilisers  Use of high yielding variety of seeds  Mechanisation of agriculture The ultimate aim of agricultural development is to increase food security

ANSWERS  1) Agricultural developmentrefers to the effort made to increase farm production in order to meet growing demands of increasing population.  2)It can be done in following ways:  *increasing cropped area  *the number of crops grown  *improving irrigation  *Use of fertilisers  *use of high yield seeds  *mechanisation of agriculture  3) Globalisation is a word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world's economies,cultures and populations brought about by cross-border goodsand services , technology, flowof investment, people and information.

 4)The Europian traders came to India in the nineteenth century due to the following reasons:  *India exportes spices to different countriesof the world.  *Cotton was exported to Britain as a raw material for cotton industry.  *Cotton Manchester industry flourished due to good quality Indian cotton.  *Britishers forced Indigo to be grown in some parts fo India.  *Apart from this India was also a producer of rice,jute, rubber and tea.

 5)The green revolution refers to the period when Indian agriculture was converted into industrial system due to the adoption of modern methods and technology such as high yielding seeds, tractors, irrigation facilities, fertilisersand pesticides.  It was mainly found by MS Swaminathan and he is also known as the father of green revolution in India.
