SCHOOL OF PHARMACYOur school was created since the foundation of the university on April 21st 1966, to offer studies of superioreducation in pharmacy, being the oldest of a private university.We have the most prestigious pharmacy program of all Dominican universities, verifiable in the professionalsuccess of our graduates and our high rate of insertion in the work market, at a national and internationallevel.The curriculum of the pharmacy program has 12 semesters to be completed during 4 years (3 per year),which are organized in the following way: Basic cycle of 5 semesters and a professional cycle of 7 semesters.This program has elective subjects as well as guided practices performed in the future areas of professionalwork and an internship of 40 hours minimal in the National Pharmaceutical Industry which allows thestudent to acquire the development and the necessary skills to successfully compete in the work field.During the Basic Cycle of Pharmacy our students use the labs installed in our campus. In the event of theprofessional cycle the School of Pharmacy has laboratories duly equipped for the practices in subjects as:Bromatology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacy- Botanics, Pharmacognosy, Toxicology. In the eventof the practices of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology the facilities of the Institute of Anatomy and theInstitute of Physiological Sciences and Experimental Medicine respectively are used. CHEMICAL DEPARTMENTThe Department of Chemical of UNPHU was created on 1966. Is the responsible unit to teach the subjectsof chemistry contained in several programs of some careers offered in the university, to coordinate andsupervise the work of chemistry teachers in the learning teaching process and to offer the career of ChemicalEngineer of great importance in the industrial development of Dominican Republic.Our graduates, Chemical Engineers have a great trajectory and honor, with great offer of jobs in Dominicanand foreign companies, perform their profession in Dominican Republic, United States and other countries.The teaching staff of the Chemical Department is composed by teachers of high level of quality andexperience at a teaching and professional level, at master and doctorate, graduated in our university andfrom other local and foreigner universities. DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCESUNPHU offers for the first time on year 1974 the career of BS in Mathematics, concentration in Programming.After the School of Informatics of UNPHU was created to teach careers related with the field of computers,in an independent and separated from the Department of Mathematics of the University. Also was createda Practice Lab with computers to facilitate the learning process of students.Systems Engineering.Applies the general theory of systems and the computer sciences, as well as mathematics for the developmentof information to the development of applications in the commercial, industrial and technological fieldin general as an instrument for the storage and data processing and its communication; as well as thedisposition for the users of the information required in an timely and confident way as a main element forthe decision making.The Systems Engineer is an expert in the software technology, in architecture and technology of computers,in technology of computer nets and in electronic equipment, knowledge that allows the engineer to be ableto work in all type of company and in all departments of the company, even though there are grouped inthe computer department. Analysis: Computer management and Development Departments: managementand organization of computer projects and data programming centers; maintenance of infrastructures;architecture and analysis of computer systems; technician in systems, data base and communications;technical advice; artificial intelligence and new technologies; design, selection and assessment of computerinfrastructure and logic; optimization of methods and means of communication with the computer andusers; conception of projects and application for their posterior analysis and performance; investigation;education; teaching; commercial technicians and management positions in any area of the company. BS in Computers. Provides a solid basic education and from the fourth year can chose a professional/scientific orientation selecting most of the subjects.A BS in computers is trained to devote to the professional activity of systems development, to applications indifferent areas (industry, medicine, communications, education, etc.) or to computer scientific investigation.At the termination of their studies should perform a Thesis of Grade translated into a Grade Work of anarea of importance in computers. These theses can be directly related with an area of investigation orprofessional work.Technician Analyst Programmer: Due to the higher volume of information that companies handle and thespeed with which they should adequate to the continual changes currently is unavoidable the automatedhandling of data, by mean of the incorporation of computers. In UNPHU we train a Programmer Analyst ofSystems highly skilled to provide solutions to these requirements.The theory-practice delivered to our students in the design and construction of Systems of Information,computer programs, nets, data base and maintenance of computer equipment guarantees the success ofour graduates in the modern company.The Programmer Analyst of Systems have open doors in all companies with computer systems o the onesthat require to incorporate it and companies offering their computer services.
