Phraya Ratsadanupradit Mahitsaraphakdi or Khaw Sim Bee wasthe former governor of the province. He was the pioneer who brought the Para rubber trees to plant in the province and later it has been widespreadly planted all over Thailand. He developed agriculture, animal husbandry, transportation, education and local administration so Trang has been the prosperous town up to nowadays.He also initiated the connection of Trang with Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung by road as well as the railroad connection to Nakhon Si Thammarat, one of the first railroads of Thailand.
